Thanks for the post, I'll look into both of these issues. What are you thoughts on the re-sync issue? I haven't really seen it as a problem since the game isn't competitive, it's something that you can choose to use as a player but not something that interferes with the game because it doesn't allow you to get an advantage over anyone else. If other people see it differently I'd like to hear your thoughts.
Hey Brandon, I know you're pretty busy, but I wanted to make a suggestion. Have you thought of making it possible to see your teammates stats/gold? Maybe when you tap a teammate, and click the box on the bottom right you could see their player card. Obviously not a necessity, but it might be neat and helpful. Might also make dividing loot a bit more efficient than chat allows. Just a thought. I love this game, it definitely has a permanent place on my phone. Keep up the awesome work!
Thanks for the kind words, and the great suggestions. We're working on all of the things you mentioned so stick with us.
You have to fix the resync bug. It gives the game 0 difficulty. I don't know why resuming just erases the monster turn. I'm fine with using it to re roll for chests and store items but when it Wipes out the actions of all enemies it becomes Game breaking
It's really not a bug, it's a tool that you can use if you choose to. It can only break the game if you choose to use it. It's like have a Game Genie back in the NES/Genesis days. If you used Game Genie you could beat any game out there, but you got to make that choice.
This might sound silly, but has any discussion been given to the first stage being too hard? I've died many times getting through the first stage, but rarely through the rest of the game. There aren't a lot of choices you can make with tactics, gear, etc in the first stage so getting this three times without heals, etc makes you dust. Not game breaking, but it might prevent newer players from going on.
How good are the parties in random games at the moment? I've got no friends who would want to play but I like the idea enough to support it if there are people who will actually take their turns and play.
Is anyone else not receiving not receiving notifications? I originally put the game on both my iPad 2 and my iPhone 4, but then I only got notifications on my iPad. Then I deleted it on my iPad and still don't get them on my iPhone. I'm playing with my roomate while I'm out of town, and really liking the game despite the flaws. My roomate and I are pretty responsive on our turns
After posting yesterday I realised that GameCentre doesn't work on the Iphone 3g. Goes to show how much I use it (and notice things in general.) Could this be why the random player button crashes the game? If so does that make the game not compatible with the iphone 3g? Trying to get to the bottom of this because I still can't play and I've had the game since launch.
You'll need to logout and log back in on your iPhone. It grabs the last device you logged in with and then sends all notifications to that device. Multi-device notifications are on the list for the next update.
Can you let me know what OS version you're using? We're trying to track down a bug on the invite screen for people on OS 4.2.1, it would be good to know if that is what you're running as well.
For anyone who is looking for an active party I would definitely try the Organized Parties thread here on the forums: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=144228 You're much more likely to find a good group on there than anywhere else, at the moment.
I would like to see a way to delete the games that hasn't had a move in awhile. Maybe the game could auto delete games that hadn't moved in a week or add a delete button to games that's inactive
Actually, I agree with the person who first brought this up. I don't mind re-synching chests and shop items but the monster turn is huge. If u die, re-synch. Honestly, that shouldn't be an option. Is there anyway to make the re-synch apply after the monster's turn? So u can't rewind to before their turn. Worst case scenario, can the monsters get their turn still? Sure they might miss or do something else but as of now u can essentially skip their turn.
I hate that I am able to do it. It's saved me from a couple of bugs in the previous version, but to me the functionality it gives you should either be a deliberate function built into the game, or it should be removed. The game isn't competitive, but without some level of challenge, it's also not fun. Mostly this makes the game feel "unfinished", makes finding good loot less exciting (since you can just re-loot infinite times until something good pops up), and effectively eliminates the death penalty making battles less exciting. I WANT to feel like I could suffer an unavoidable penalty for dying in a fight, I WANT to get un-useful loot sometimes so that the times that I get a really useful drop feels more special and that I'm encouraged to share drops with my friends when I don't need what I do get, and I don't want to have that evil temptation to just re-roll my turn if the shit hits the fan instead of employing real strategy. In shops, this function should be included in the form of a "restock" button or something similar (hell, maybe just a scroll bar that shows more items). But for chests, loot, and combat, the actions you choose, and the dice rolls, should be final.
Tried playing 2 random player games after updating. Both have stalled. I made a move in one game and so far no more response because it's a 3 player game. The other game is still waiting for character. Does random pick people who have deleted the app?
I completely agree with your take on this. Good post, man. On a side note, kinda related. I do believe the difficulty on this game needs an uptick. I grew up in the NES era, and thrived on the challenges that system brought. Or maybe a difficulty setting. Say u beat the game on normal, then u unlock hard mode, etc. Of just overall beef up the monsters, make them miss much less unless u focus on evasion. Sometimes I feel my brothers sorceress dodges/get misses way more than my rogue. That doesn't seem right at all, especially with my agility build.
RE: Difficulty I dont' know how far you've gotten, but it does ramp up significantly. I've had to run from battles a couple of times when I ran out of potions.
Yea had to start over with my buddy, we wanted to use diff classes. But glad to hear that!! I was hoping that was the case. Nice, I'm always up for a challenge. Especially in an RPG.
