ETbox is my gamecenter id. add me people, i will play frequently. When I get a new game request, I wish I could see what the other player chose as their starting character. That way I can make sure I pick something different and balance the party.
hey guys .. just as Ian said - use your email addresses to link up. we tried it and it worked immediately. we're almost done with the second mission and we're having a blast (feels nice to play games vs making them sometimes, ha ha ha). there might be an error with game centre itself, but when using email addresses, the moves came in almost instantly, so I'm gonna assume F5's backend is working perfectly =) i for one, am genuinely having fun playing Pocket Heroes ...
Sorry. Dont want to play this right now. I realize now how difficult it is to play a game, more so to gather the same players to complete 10 quests. I see why others are asking why there isnt an option to play with random people... Kinda like in DnD where you can go on quests with other adventurers, just taking your character sheet with you and pwning some goblins.
DISCLAIMER - I have not read all the posts in this thread yet. I'm trying to catch up but today is a crazy day so far. First of all I want to say Thank You to everyone who has downloaded Pocket Heroes! Secondly, from the posts here it is clear that some of you are having trouble and that some of you were expecting Pocket Heroes to be something other than what it is. For that I want to apologize. I felt that we had done a good job of explaining that Pocket Heroes was a turn-based multiplayer only game that you would play with your friends. From some of the comments it's clear that wasn't communicated well enough and I'm sorry for anyone who bought the game and isn't happy. I wanted to come on here and post to let you know that we are hearing your feedback ( I've been answering emails and twitter messages all morning and I'll be combing the forums as well ). We are also going to do something about it and I want to let you know what we're working on. We are currently working on a patch that will address at least the following issues and undoubtedly more. 1. Invite issues on iOS 4.1 devices - We had tested on an iPod Touch running iOS 4.0 and didn't have any trouble but I know that multiple people have had problems sending invites, we're looking into that and hope to have it fixed soon. 2. Game Center invite issues - I know that some people are having trouble claiming Game Center invites and we are looking into that to determine the cause. 3. Poor register screen design - I've heard from several people that they accidentally entered their password into the username field when they created their account. We are going to rework the register screen to make the field names much more apparent. Also, if this has happened to you please send me a PM or email telling me what the email address is that you used to sign up and what you want your username to be, I can change it manually. 4. Displaying whose turn it currently is - A lot of people are confused by the 'Waiting for your turn' dialog so we are going to change that to display the name of the current player. That way you can nudge someone who is taking too long to move. 5. Make it more apparent which character is yours - In games where multiple players are playing the same class it can be tough to tell which character is yours. We'll do something to make that more apparent. 6. Ability to see what other classes are in the party when you pick your character - This is actually something that we had implemented and was working in dev but there is a problem with it displaying in the released version. We'll get this fixed so you'll have a better idea of what class you should choose. 7. Zombie Wolves - There have been people that have wolves come back to life and attack them. We will do all that we can to deal with the zombie wolf menace. So that's the easy stuff, we are also looking at the following problems but haven't decided 100% how we're going to address them. I'll try to post a follow-up later today with our ideas. 1. Ability to decline invites for parties you don't want to join. 2. Ability to delete games you no longer want to play in 3. Ability to add someone to your party without the need to GC or email invite them. Like I said, we haven't determined the best approach to solving these issues but we are talking through multiple approaches and as soon as we decide on a course of action I'll let everyone know. Again, I hope you're enjoying your time with the game. If you're not and you think the above list of issues is part of the problem I hope you'll check back with us after the update. If you have other reasons that you're not enjoying the game, or you've run into other problems playing the game please let me know so we can get them addressed. We want Pocket Heroes to have a strong community of players who want to play the game for a long time to come and we're going to work to try and make that the case. Thanks for reading. - Brandon
Despite all the complaints, most of which seem legitimate, I still have hope for this game. Might wait another day or two for the rush to die down, like Outwitters. But for those who have jumped in, how is the turn-based mechanic working out? I've never played D&D so I don't know what to expect. When exactly does one player's turn end and another player begins? Is it only during fights, or does each player get a chance to lead the party and explore?
Each 'quest' is basically a full tactical encounter, with enemy groups close enough together that you generally won't spend more than a turn outside of combat between groups. Everyone just takes their own turn alternately - there's no overworld or other element where one player would control the party. Between quests there's a camp where your HP refills and you have the opportunity to purchase items. Me, I quite like the turn-based aspect, and once you get into it the game is really fun. I would heartily recommend taking some time before your first game to connect with some people here on the forums and organize a party rather than just inviting random people though. Combat is fast and furious - I've finished the second quest, and no single monster so far has survived more than two full attacks from party members, but they make up for it in numbers. Loot drops are also random - it sort of feels like a turn-based Diablo. Your character has a set amount of movement points and action points, which are separate. So you can do a full move and (usually) make two attacks, and you can attack at any point during, before, or after your move, so there's some nice tactical options, like rogues can strike and fall back behind tougher allies.
Okay. Another thing. There seems to be a bug when you die before the tavern. My character is stucked there and my party members must be wondering why I can't move. My game keeps crashing.
Is this the same as random matchmaking (the ability to add random players to parties)? Currently, that might be the most pressing need of all, if my own rationale holds true:
Im with Ayjona on his points. I still have hope for the game, but it is too difficult to get with a proper party that will adventure with you regularly. An option to party with other adventurers (preferably within a character level range if there is such a thing as character level in pocket heroes) AT RANDOM. Even with a forum, creating the party becomes the easy part. Continuing the quests become really difficult from what i've read.
Im still waiting for my frigging activation email so that i can actually play this game i have tried everything redownloading rebooting different emails different usernames but no matter what i do I'm not getting an email
I'm sorry but I'm removing this and givin it a star until random play, it's so awful waiting for players, even having them as GC friends... So sad.
Haven't read through all the comments, but when I first heard about this game, I had my doubts. Playing something like Words With Friends and waiting for turns is one thing. But I was thinking an RPG would be nearly impossible to implement with the same type of "back to you" style of gameplay. I'll be interested to see if this turns out to be a success and proves me wrong. For now, I'll keep doing my own questing in other games.
Playing this with some friends, and one really annoying bug is that sometimes it erases a turn. I get to keep whatever XP I got, but any loot I got is erased, the enemy is resurrected, and I'm back where I was the turn before. Massively annoying, and if it happens too much, a gamekiller.
Head to this thread if your looking to start a party for the west coast PST http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=144228&page=3 I just bought and am looking to start a party =]
i'm glad to see you guys are working on solutions. For my part I knew what Pocket Heroes was,it's a matter that right now things seem very buggy with crashes and error messages that pop up for no reason at all. Right now the crash I get when you try to invite party members makes the game only half playable,I can join other groups just fine. it is very confusing not knowing who's turn it is in a game,i'm glad to see this will be fixed too.
I think the game is fantastic. Me and my buddy love it and have been playing it all day. We;re on quest 4! There are a couple of issues: Sometimes a monster will move over my character and I cannot move and my teammate cannot attack him, only I can. Also, after i kill a monster i can back out and respawn the monster and keep doing it until a loot I like drops. That could be bad.
