really gives you an idea just how much impact a little (or a lot of) political incorrectness can make. The creator of Baby Shaker probably thought he'd get a few laughs, some cringing, and maybe a few bucks too. I'm sure he had no idea it would make nationwide news. Pocket God however is quite far from being in the same boat. It's not like the dev set out to offend or shock anyone. Some people just try to find offense in anything they can. a good friend of mine is the same way. he's overly sensitive and gets offended over things that are in no way, shape, or form, meant to be offensive. It's annoying having to talk him down all the time because he takes things the wrong way. maybe I'm just too easy going, but I really don't see this app triggering a wave of pacific islander hate crimes or anything like that.
This is all because of the "baby shaker" incident!! Apple has gotten themselves into a sticky situation with the baby shaker app. I think that type of thing has no place in the app store, but apple took it down after it had already created a huge media controversy. Now we will see a lot more articles like these that try to pressure apple to get rid of other apps, and they will probably be very popular apps most of the time.

If you hold a 99 cent game with such high regard as to quickly discredit those hurt by it, you are just too out of touch. Blame the victims or risk bursting your bubble.
Or simply change the statue. Otherwise there is very little reason to feel it is targeted at Pacific islanders. I don't have the app but I can't imagine that being a very big deal. Leave the islanders, change the statue.
Who cares? Take the app out of the app store already. The whites who designed the game made enough money off of it I'm sure.
This is stupid. It's only racist if you're dumb enough to think the people living on those islands today have bones through their hair and look like cro-mags. That's not the case at all, nor has it been in generations, therefore it's not reasonable to make a big stink about this. Or maybe they should call it a historic tribal religion simulator, because then it would be accurate in a lot of ways.
Why should we take it out? Because a few morons found it "offensive"? Well in that case I find BIA, SWAY, CJS, Hill Billy, Zombieville, iDracula, and all the other apps on the app store offensive so let's remove them. I find Apple stores offensive too so let's close all of them while we're at it. Sometimes I don't get how people can be so stupid.
If people think this is offensive why haven't they said anything about apps like bakini blast?!?!?!? If little cartoons are that ARENT REAL are causing all this why are people thinking soft core porn in the app store is ok?!?!?!?!?! Oh, that's wright it's offensive but makes pervs feel good so it's ok(sarcasm). Pocket god is just a game set in pre-historic times(dino egg) so it's clearly not about them.

It is easy to see why someone would consider it racist. I not completely comfortable with the game myself. However, I don't think apple should take it down. I also don't think apple should have removed the baby shaker game. No one is forcing people to buy these games. Not allowing people to buy will not change how people fill in their hearts. Just let the people decide with their pocket books. Maybe these developers will start supporting other platforms so apple can have some real competitions. Hopefully platforms that are open.

Just read 10 pages, most were devoid of on-topic content. I am the adoptive father of a beautiful boy from Micronesia and have come across the game in iTunes and seen tons of threads at TA. I took a look at screen shots of the game and have read some reviews of it. I honestly do feel uncomfortable with the premise of the game because I don't want my son to be teased by kids who play the game. I have read the points made by many that these are cartoon characters with ridiculous outfits. There is obviously no disagreement that everyone knows exactly where these islands are though, and to me that means that the people of those islands are being singled out. I wish they had picked a Far East island and shown yellow people with slanted eyes and shogun helmets. That would have been better, right?
Oh please, the claims of the article are ridiculous. If they chose to use tribal villagers instead, some stupid activists are going to come down hard on them. It's all about people seeking attention. Just because they choose to use the pigmy image, doesn't mean anyone's trying to spite polynesians. If not, Assassin's Creed should be banned because your targets are muslims and christians. World War 2 games should be banned because you're killing germans, japanese, or americans, depending on what game you play. Heck, the NASA department of xenobiology should crack down on Halo! These allegations are stupid. Ignore them, Bolt Creative, and continue to improve Pocket God like you've always been doing.
@crimson. People have found grand theft auto games offensive. And I'm sure if a decomposing human being or a half-man half-bat type figure roamed the earth they would be offended by such titles. I have an idea let's make a september 11 game where you control airplanes that fly into the two towers. As flaming people jump out the window you can control them with your finger. With one swipe you can throw them into cars and flick them into the sun for power-ups. Now one should care I mean it's only a game.
