Can I have a pony? Pretty please? I'll hug him and squeeze him and love him....I would also like someone, anyone to tell me what is the pattern Magus suposed to be. An angel? With stars? A swan? Please help me out if not with a pony, then with what you think Magus is. TIA
Just a quick update - started this game last week and the warm welcome has kept me going in a fervor. I reached lvl 8 over the weekend and am most of the way to lvl 9. Filling that froggydex is quite the job which definitely gets harder as you stop getting "free finds" of ones you weren't trying for near the end. I am up to 62.77 of anuras and then intend to work my way up the ladder. A quick question I have been trying to deduce just how mail works. If you have full mail I now realize that anything sent to you will "bounce" and retry later (I originally thought it was gone forever so I either had to cash it or lose it). Is there a limit to how many "bouncers" you can have at once? Again thanks all it has been a chunk of fun.
Level 9 now - the joys of doing a major number of your max lvl frog combines. Any chance I could get an Orbis? I try to vary things up a bit as I know someday I will reach that lvl in my "dexing" so a bit of variation will only make it easy (I already have a Sagitta and an Amfractus).
First, congrats on your progress. As a casual player it must have taken me over 4 months to reach Level 9. As to your question about the MB, my experience is perhaps unique, I don't know. Not wanting to refuse gifts, the backlog on my MB got longer & longer for the mail tries to deliver the most recent gifts first before doubling back & trying again for the older gifts. When my backlog reached about a week, I found that older gift frogs were simply not offered again & I lost a good 6-10 of them forever. When I posted this a while back, no one else had an experience which mirrored mine (maybe because they didn't let things go so long) so maybe it's only a danger for the slow but heavily gifted player. Plus, it was with the last version of PF, before the update. Either way, I've learned my lesson. I currently do what I never did before (unless I got a duplicate), I just sell frogs if my MB is too full or I need a frog someone gifted me right away, not sometime in the future. p.s.: Thanks for today's froggies to Dom, sab, Andi, lilacherie, Andi, & bezoar. What a delightful way to begin the day!
Thanks for your advice I know I felt horrid "cashing in" too a few times but I thought it was a "that or it either bounces back to them and inconveniences or it is deleted like the gifts you find". Once I realized that I was seeing the same thing again if I "hopelessly accepted" it dawned on me that it queued them up for a try again later. I am trying to go with the "let it come if I think I will use it someday" and just burn stamps to get it out of the mailbox method. If it is something that is not on my "to get list" like a +happiness that is lower than 36 I realize it wouldn't be worth using stamps (or the time) and call it a sell item. There seems to be a lot about the etiquette I can't really figure out but I try to be respectful of the gifts I get and someday I will figure out the ropes of giving gifts as well.
What is the catalog? I can't figure out how it differs from the froggydex (other than it doesn't seem to let you grab one). I haven't been cataloging anything (except by accident) is that an oversight on my part?
OMG, there is no specific etiquette! Like you, I used to think that it was somehow disrespectful to sell a gift freely given, that maybe the person would check my habs to see if I got it. Then I realized I never find the time to check others' habs to see if they got my frog(s) or not - furthermore, if they want to sell, fine. It's a gift no matter what happens. As for giving gifts, I know my guidelines are if someone sends me a gift, I reciprocate with a gift which is usually of the same or higher value (one Veru might equal a whole bunch of lower frogs, for example, & take up less MB space). If someone sends me a Set or Request frog (both of which are the equivalent of stamps & potions), I try to highly generous in my thanks for they've saved me time & money. Newer players can't be expected to reciprocate in kind or even reciprocate. Give them a while to get started. But we once had a person who popped in week after week asking for the Set, once two Sets! Those players tend to be ignored by people like me. Frankly, my experience has been that there are all types here in this forum from the exceptionally generous dean, Q, & Dom to others who take & take & never give. In time you'll form your own "etiquette" which best suits your personality & game style.
The catalog allows you to "catalog," or keep for purchase later, 40 frogs. People use it for various reasons. I catalog at least one of each of the frog breeds. If I purchase something from my catalog it costs a lot less than it would cost if I purchased it from the froggydex (which lists all the frogs you've ever bred). For example, a Red Albeo Sagitta from my catalog would cost 10,695 coins (a lot!) but from the 'dex it'd be 35,650 coins (way more!!). Hope that answers your question.
Thanks for the overview of how things work . In addition to "what is the catalog for and should I care" question I am wondering about sets. I got the sumo frog one to complete and reasonably believed it is something well beyond my lvl (at least when I began) - is there any reason I should worry about sets right now? Do they expire? Or can I just leave sets as something to worry about after I get through my dexing as I can get old sets whenever I want?
Wow read the note on catalogs - um oops I guess I will start using it. I had thought the froggydex prices were a tad high. Does the catalog go into your mailbox and the froggydex go into the hatching area?
Q, It's a day since I sent you some high values, so I hope your MB is ready to digest these. If not you can of course just sell them for half price. As I said before, I've got a lot of high values. Again, to quote you, pay it forward.
No, both go into your mailbox. Buying from the catalog cost you 3 times the value of the frog, cloning from your dex costs you 10 times the value.
Congratulations on lvl 9! Keep up the good work. I will send you the one I have maturing as soon as it is ready. Everything lisianne has said is correct, except you can catalog 50, not 40 frogs. Since you are still lvl 9, and most sets are for higher lvl frogs, what most do who are in your situation is request the set from generous, higher lvl players (such as myself ). We are more than happy to pass them along, since, unlike requests, you don't lose the frogs once you redeem a set. If I remember correctly, they both end up in your mailbox. Another suggestion, especially now that we have so many habs, what I find useful is to keep a copy of the most requested frogs in my habitat at all times. I usually find it more satisfying to breed the frog I need rather than buy it from the catalog and definitely cheaper than getting it from the dex. Also, breeding gives you experience as well, helping you level up. Believe me, I am not complaining but I was able to purchase my last habitat the other day. So there is no need to send valuable frogs any longer (although, they have been filling my dex, so they are still extremely useful). I have been spending stamps like crazy to try to keep my mailbox clear to accept your gifts. I really don't want to run into lisianne's problem .
Thanks again for the warm welcomes Qwerty hooked me up with an orbis so I am doing great there for my nightly breeding frenzy . I am around 80% dex of anuras now trying to complete them today! Thanks Qwerty again for the orbis.
I really hate to be a pain, but I was hoping that someone could help me get the following frogs from the new batch -- Vinaceus, Gyrus, Orbis & Bulla -- since they are now the only ones I am missing. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
Uh oh, I feared I might be sending too soon. I'm sorry, I sure as heck don't want you hurting for stamps because of my eagerness. All I can offer is the suggestion to sell them at half price and sometime way in the future I'll send you the second half. And all I can say is that because of your help to everyone, I knew any extra cash is just going to go to aiding others. I'm glad your set with last hab.
