Sorry about your ipod. Don't be discouraged, i had something similar happen and everything except what i had done in the 24 hours prior to losing it was restored. That said, been fighting signing up here because i figured it was just a game. However, i've been told i have an addiction as well... On level 19. Been looking for a veru or tribus if anyone has a spare. I can trade a Cornus,glass albeo magus or glass albeo glacio in return. Or glass albeo floresco or lanterna. Whatever color you have is fine. Sorry to hear. Did you have the iPad locator turned on? Because if you do, and you can search for it as long as it is powered on. I left my in a limo once and watched it on my iPhone driving all around town. I was able to retrieve it once I told the company exactly where it was. You may be able to do the same. My fingers are crossed for you.
Aack! Sorry for your loss, Nirtew. If it were an el-cheapo gizmo, you might have a chance to get it back but an iPad? Whatever you replace it with, be sure you have Find my iPhone (works with iPad & iPod Touch as well) installed & ready to go into action. If the iPad is being used, you'd have a chance to locate it. After 2 heart-stopping moments, one supplied by apple, the other by pocket frogs, I am happy to report I am, as far as I can see, totally restored to PF. The heart-stopper from Apple was when I tried to restore from backup I got the msg "can't restore from backup because the backup is from an old iOS." Pardon me but WTF? aren't backups supposed to be OS-independent? Hell, I can get backups from Windows 3.1. OK, I can restore Pocket frog from a real old version on itunes. And I do so. Apply the update and open PF. For 3 or 4 seconds from hell I see one little brown frog and cash, XP and everything at 0. Then the frog gods cut in and I get a msg "there is a prior game available, do you want to restore?" GC all is forgiven. I will never complain again.
Great to hear that you got your game back. I will have my own story to tell in a couple of weeks. I loaned my ipod to a friend and have been using my iphone for games. I am suppose to get my ipod back and hoping that I can transfer Pocket Frogs to it. It still has my old PF game on it before the update so not sure how I will handle the transfer. Do I try the update and then hope that GC gives me the options for my current game or do I delete and readd ??

Don't take this for gospel, but I had not touched PF for 4 1/2 months when I blindly went ahead with the 2.0 update. PF updated to GC with all my frogs and numbers intact. The only things I lost were pond presents and gifts sent on the leaderboards. With the new ipad I got it was sort of a delete and re-add. I installed an old PF on the new ipod, updated and opened PF. As I described above, aside from the heart-stopping few seconds of seeing a single brown frog and all zeros, GC said "do you want to install previous game?" and I was all set. I'm sure others will have a more detailed description of the options.

Auriite! To all: i did a test today and i wonder if it's straight across devices. After receiving two gifts from Danjarus, the frogs i received all of a sudden showed up everywhere! In the pond, in a gift box, and as i was "cheating" and messing with my calendar i noticed something... The same frogs are available through frogmart on certain days. For example, try setting your calendar back to october 1, 2010. Should be a signus there. Worked for me! Wonder if i could index that...
