Thank you so much dean! also thanks to laurafitz4 for adding. :)

I've deicided to start dexing my first breed on YellowSun84, so if anyone has anything in the way of "color wheels", that would be helpful. I would take any breed below level 9 and return some frogs I breed with the wheel (if that makes sense).

My favorite thing about Pocket Frogs? When you're low level, there's always something to do.:D

So what are people's Froggydexing methods? I have a base spectrum of secondary colours in the first three habitats in order so I pretty much know where each colour is each time (Tingo-Caelus, Pruni-Cafea, Picea-Chroma). I keep seven frogs so I can move the base colour frog into each habitat for breeding. My fourth habitat has all the extra base colours not covered in the first three. Each breed I replace the entire spectrum with the same colours in the same order so I don't have to think too hard where each colour is. Then I breed each colour combo from the top down in Froggydex order. I breed two eggs for each colour, sell the eggs, check the dex and repeat for any colour I didn't get. That way I have a 50% chance at each colour combo each cycle. Not sure if it's the most efficient method but it has been working for me so I will probably stick with it. I also keep two Glass-Chroma Magus for breeding cash frogs to fund my Froggydexing which is getting real expensive with the high level frogs.

I vary my methods on each account. I am a "frog hoarder", meaning I really hate to sell frogs unless it's necessary, so I'm always cramped for space. So I usually use a breeding wheel made up of frogs I already have, and them request the other primaries/secondaries.

On my new account (the one I added you on:D) I keep one habitat empty for growing my "for profit" babies. My top five habitats (excluding the nursery) are for my "keepers" ranging from levels 1-9. Habitats 7-8 are random frogs mixed with my regular breeders. My bottom two are my potion frogs.

Haven't started 'dexing yet on that account but when I do I will have to reorganize my bottom habitats so I have room for my wheel. I usually go from Glass to Maroon. I usually finish Maroon before Red, though, since I breed Maroons while I'm waiting to request my next color that I don't have. I then wait until the babies are grown, 100% happy, and (when I feel like it) tamed, so I actually make a profit from dexing.

Interesting :) I've been breeding by color since I figured out what all the "potion" frogs were. (I.e. the frogs that can't be found in the pond or won in races).

I have the accent colors sorted out too. tingo at the top to chroma down in the middle.

I'm terrible at breeding frogs for money. I give all I can away and tend to only breed frogs if There is at least a 25% chance of making a new frog and most often will pair up fogs with a 50% chance of getting a click in that Dex total.

    Thanks

Thanks to the generous dlstar, I've finished my first primary color on my new account! Thanks so much! Also thanks to dean and laurafitz for the wonderful frogs. My mailbox is jammed full of two day frogs and I'm down to 100 stamps, so be patient with me if I don't thank you for a few days.:)

Also, with this post I'm no longer a "junior" member. I'm happy to be able to call myself a regular here :D. Many thanks to everyone who's gifted me and talked to me, especially Lisi who brought me here in the first place. Happy frogging! (lame ending, I know. :))

My dexing method has certainly evolved since I started.

I'm someone who grows frogs to maturity before selling, so my present method probably isn't ultimately efficient, but it works for me.

In the habs 2 and 3 are my breeders for my two-day breed (presently Floresco). In the top hab I keep Tingo-Pruni, and in the bottom, Viola-Chroma. The base colors were selected based on what I already had, as when I start a new breed I buy all the breeders out of the dex. I start by completing the base colors I need to in order to buy the seven base colors that don't fit in the two habs. I have an Excel chart for each breed which helps. Say I'm trying to complete Olive. My Olive happens to be Olive Tingo. I look at my chart, and see I need Olive Muscus, Caelus, and Pruni from hab 1, and Floris, Bruna, and Picea from hab 2. I'll breed my Olive to my Musc, Cael, and Pruni, then check the dex. Repeat as needed, then switch the Olive frog into the other hab to pick up the other pattern colors.

Hab 4 contains the frogs I gift.

Habs 5-8 I fill with two-day eggs one evening. Habs 9-12 I fill with two-day eggs the next evening.

Hab 13 is where I build the weekly set, and when it's not in effect, is a fast-breed hab.

Hab 14 contains my three racing frogs (still trying to complete Veru through pond gifts and racing, so I race whenever I have mailbox space, which isn't often!) and the remaining space for fast breed eggs.

Habs 15 and 16 contain my breeders for my present fast breed (just finished Ludo, about to start Partiri), done on the same principle as described above. Before stopping playing, I can fill every available spot, including the nursery, with fast-breed eggs, as I can sell the frogs when I come back to the game. My fast breeds I could breed in the morning if I have time, but usually just breed them at night along with the usual four habs of two-day breeds.

The way I have arranged it, I can play for a good bit of time each evening. Every once in a while I get "off" due to not having time to play, so have to fool around a bt to get everything back in sync.

It all sounds complicated, but after playing for oh, a couple of years now?, it's all become quite routine! I'm a bit anal and hyper-organized; besides my excel breed charts, I have a notebook with pages for my trading friends, where I keep track of gifts given and recived, so I can at least try not to duplicate gifts or give someone back the frog they gave me. I'll keep playing as long as I enjoy this insanity!

    Happy hopping!

I considered that but with over 19,000 frogs to breed I don't have that sort of patience.

I am also a grow (most) frogs to maturity before I sell them type of dexer, and I started out dexing by breed but am currently dexing by colour. I choose my breed or colour randomly.

    Somewhere else
My method is the simplest: no rhyme or reason. OK, OK, I have fully 'dexed the the Anura (thanks to the advice in this forum which served me oh so well!) as well as the highest value level 16 frogs. This was done totally randomly & for the value of the frog in terms of leveling up. Some were gifted as thanks or "just because," some were sold to support my set breeding habit.

NB Support Forum's loss, our gain.

OMG, I would never have the patience or dedication to do what you do! Yes, I eventually got a mini-memo notebook, after using sticky notes, to keep track of who sent what but only the breed of frog which was sent so I could send back something of the same or greater value. The notebook & the constant MB full of frogs halted my trading for it was interfering with my more leisurely play & my enjoyment of the game. I couldn't take advantage of finding (& keeping!) presents in the pond, for example.

That said, you were perhaps my earliest forum friend, Quossum. I think I was working on the award with the Serpentis frogs & you helped me complete it. My first IM is from you.

You disappeared after a while & I disappeared a good deal later to spend time on the NB site; I just took great delight in helping people solve problems & that ate up my time. Glad you're back posting. I'm back in a less active way.

p.s.: As I said, my notebook of who sent gifts is gathering dust but I will thank the few people I recall who sent frogs somewhat recently: danj, dean, snappy, & Maholah. I apologize for forgetting anyone but my memory is as imperfect as my gaming strategy.;)

p.p.s.: So many people have come back but...Where's Waldo (& Nirtew)?:confused: S/he used to be so active.

    FROGAZON order :)

I know I gave you a list already but I love to make people feel useful (in a nice way:D), and please know that I can and will return anything I can. So with that said, can I have these for my new account (YS84):

    Red x Partitri
    Orange x Partitri
    Golden x Partitri
    Lime x Partitri
    Emerald x Partitri
    Olive x Partitri
    Marine x Partitri
    Aqua x Partiri

If you think I've asked too much already, you can give my eight frogs to another one of your neighbors, or just keep them yourself. You're one of my top gifters, so I hate to be greedy.
