Hey, all! First, my apologies for being remiss in thanking my trading friends. I appreciate the frogs and enjoy trading with you! Many thanks to Quossum, Snappy, Dominic, Khas, Jklau, DLStar, Java, Andi and Lisi. Quossum, please let me know which Ludos, or other frogs, you need--I've been enjoying your many gifts, but I'm not sure what to send in return! Also, I've not been able to devote the time to work out a good game yet, so I'm going to do two quick and simple ones for now: 1. The next 16 posts on this board will each get a Signum; 2. A Day at the Races: Post a species and base color of frog you'd like, and I'll do my best to win you one (at least three races to try for it, probably more, depending on the response). Keep in mind that the "special" frogs (they're all special!) cannot be won by racing. My top three non-nursery habs are the top racers for their species. Races will take place Sat. & Sun., so let me know what you'd like.
I think I have been jinxed from the beginning with bad racing frogs. I do have frogs that win races the first five times and then lose every time after that. And then there are level 16 frogs that I trust with a lot of money, and they come in last. Am I the only one? Thanks to all who have sent me gifts this week. Still haven't figured out the wifi situation, but I'm working on it!
Bluewater, I checked online for the best racing frogs by level, and found some helpful info here: http://www.thonky.com/pocket-frogs/best-racing-frogs/ If you search this forum, I believe I posted my picks for Veru & Magus racers a good while ago--I got about 90-95% of those breeds through racing and pond gifts. I've found that often the highest level/best-rated frogs aren't necessarily the most consistent winners, so it helps to run some races and save the second-place ones as much as possible, then keep track of stats. (When racing for breeds for the dex, I kept several racers on hand per breed.) Another thing I've found is that it works better not to race too often in one day. Apparently they get sluggish from too much racing. I've no idea if that's actually built into the game, but it's been my experience. Hope that helps. Also, I sent you a Signum.
The Maroon Aurum Veru is the best racer, followed closely by the Cocos Picea Magus. The tip to only race them once a day is good. Sometimes I take my racers to the pond for a bit before racing, and (unscientifically) it seems to help. Now i'm racing to try to get Verus I don't have (no easy task), so it's important I have the best possible chance to win when I do see the covetd question mark. Good luck! Thanks to my usual frog-trading buddies. Those of you whom I know to already have 100%, I usually just gift back whatever, hope you don't mind. I've really been enjoying the "complementary sets" of Signums from Quin, the array of goodies from Maholah, and the weekly sets from Snappy and/or Domenic. Thank you all so much! Thanks for enlivening this thread with a new idea, Maholah. PLEASE DON'T SEND ME A SIGNUM. Please send what you would have sent me to the person on your trading list who's at the "lowest level." Encouraging others to persist, who are not that far along, is the best way to perpetuate this wonderful thread.
Racers I just checked my old forum messages, and way back at 21048, I posted: "For Veru/Magus, my top racers were Marine Viola Veru, Red Carota Veru, White Bruna Veru and Black Albeo Magus (but he didn't do as well as the Verus)." That was after having done dozens, if not hundreds of races, to get most of the Veru/Magus. When I was doing those, I had two habs filled with my best racers and would run them 3-4 times a day--but with races separated by a few hours. Since Quossum found his best racer to be the Maroon Aurum Veru, it might be that different frogs do better for different players--although I don't know if they'd have gone to the lengths to code that in. Interesting thought. Anyway, still looking for takers for races this weekend. Do't be shy! I often get frogs for trading friends through races, so I know my little frogs can help some of you out. [EDIT: Signums going out to Quossum and Dom; Lisi, can you suggest a worthy player to whom to donate your frog? Silly rule-breaker! ;-) ]
Coral Reef Hi again, I'm trying to complete the Coral Reef set, but I'm missing a Yellow Caelus Veru. If anyone has one they can give me please send it my way I also have been breeding a few chroma frogs, so if anyone wants one let me know Thanks Fawnzie
This week's Autumn-themed set is cool. As for racing, I like to race a lower level frog first (2-4) to test probability of winning. If a known strong racer frog doesn't win at its lower level, I try again later until successful and then try a higher level one. Sometimes, though PF will get stuck in a "losing streak" and I will stop racing for awhile. If you try with a lower level frog first, you won't lose as many coins. Don't know who your trader friends are that's why I wanted YOU to choose! Pick someone you feel will continue to help this community live long & prosper. Since I've copied about three of your habs, Giroth AKA Disastrously, I suggest others check them out even if they don't want anything. Your hab #8 is my favorite, especially because the frogs match the background! Looking forward to some new, creative designer schemes that I can copy.
