<snip> Sorry, can't take credit. That was not me, it was my notes. That was a great idea, Dom. I'm adding it to my quote in case any of my friends aren't your friends.
Just looked up my posts and found that I haven't posted a thank you since Dec 21. Now I know that I wrote one out last Monday or so. I guess I just didn't hit the Submit Reply button (talk about forgetting things, Dom). So I apologize for that and here goes. Thanks to Shortbus for *two* weeks worth of weekly sets and to lisi, Snappy, Maholah, danjarus, Nicksparkinson, jklau, andi, WackoRobie, dean, dom, dlstar, laura, InBoots, quossum, jenandroy, javarich, lala2453, and anybody I missed for all the glorious frogs over the past two weeks. They are much appreciated. And oh yes, a belated Happy New Year to everbody.
Back to you, Laura. How could I forget my essential quandary?!! So, if it were a question of spending time in the pond (taming or gifts), about how many hours/day would it take in only 3 weeks, WITHOUT BUYING EXTRA STAMPS OR POTIONS, to get to Level 20? Totally agree, traditions are what make this a lovely, virtual site. A home (or pond), one might say. I happened upon it in search of an answer but stayed because of the uniqueness of this site. Let's not lose that in "our" (OK, I'll use the collective "your") desire to reach nirvana, 100% of the 'dex. Just think, once there, what will you do? What can you aspire to? Will life have any purpose or meaning? Question for the Ages: Is there life after Pocket Frogs???? <cue Twilight Zone music>. p.s.: Thanks, OK, a whole lot of thanks to my generous gifters: Nirtew for the Veru, danj for the Veru, Andi for the Arbor (what a tree-t!), Snappy for the Floresco & Veru (today! Snappy, you know my fairness counselor won't allow me to send more than one gift back a day! Ouch!!), laura for the Pingo, the earnestly elusive Elektra for the Veru, & InBoots for the Gyrus. You are all so kind...& some quite forgetful...<cue Snappy's mournful look>
Lisi, I examined my records and I sent one frog yesterday evening and the other one this evening. I understand, though about frogs coming in at the same time. There are times when I have seen frogs come in from a week ago at about the same time as ones currently sent to me. Not sure how it happens this way (Plus+ network latency?). Anyhow, one return gift per day from you is not a problem. I have been focusing on only sending no more than one per day. I might forget from time to time, though Since I brought up the topic of frogs arriving in the MB at unusual times, has anyone else noticed them coming in when off the network? There appears to be a local buffer and I am not sure how many frogs are stored there (3-4 based on my experience). I believe it is related to Game Center, though I am not sure. I have had it happen more than once, so it is not a glitch. It seems to happen randomly. I did not notice this buffer in iOS 3.x on my previous device which did not have Game Center. Thanks to Maholah for the Violet Amfractus, Lisi for the White Floresco, Danjarus for the Black Veru, JavaRich for the Aqua Veru, Laura for the Orange Ornatus, Andi for the Green Gyrus, Quossum for the Beige Gyrus, Dean for the 2 Azure Geminus, and 2 Azure Sagittas!, Nirtew for the Orange Veru, Gracesqx for Emerald Saggita, Nickspark for the Cocos Partiri, Zeady for the Aqua Veru and Green Bulbus!, and anyone else who sent gifts! A nice evening to everyone,
Does anyone have a spare Ligo bouncin' around in their pond that they could send my way? Will send a handful of lovelies in return
Sure there is - ask Dean! I have noticed the buffer as well, though not sure how large it is. I thought putting the phone into airplane mode for a while would allow me to hold a space open in my mailbox when I needed one, but I still received some gifts.
Ooops! Just sent an "I'm really sorry" gift. In truth, rarely because of multiple gifts but just because, my MB does tend to clog from time to time. It's usually my fault, of course, because even if I already have a certain frog, if it's pretty, I tap to receive the gift. That's one the advantages/disadvantages of not being a 'dexer. Not complaining, however. Dean the Numeric (to quote Maholah) is one of a kind. Really he is. How many avid traders before him left the forum already once their needs were met? Go back to the beginnings of this forum & you'll find most of the active traders have long gone. How many names do you recognize? I haven't been here since the beginning but I *have* seen some pretty powerful players with high 'dexes just vanish. MOST of my very earliest "Friends" with the exception of Dom & Dean. (Hmm, maybe the numbers in their names are predictive of their staying power) Some do tend to reappear when new frogs are introduced only to fade away just as quickly. Make no mistake about it, Dean is the exception to the rule. And what a great exception for those who benefit from his bounty. p.s.: Special thanks to those who sent me some wonderful gifts today: Shasta for Magus, Andi for the Arbor, Elektra for the Bulla & Magus, laura for the Floresco, & Dom for the Cesti. The last three frogs are still waiting patiently to get into the MB - a very recherché place, it appears.
Thanks in advance for the frog, Lisi. My mailbox seems to be a bit behind too. How many frogs does the cloud queue for Plus + hold? I have seen ones appear for previous weeks that I kept pressing "accept" when my MB was full. Others seem to disappear into Plus+ and do not appear again. Thanks to Dean for the Azure Arbor, Dom for the Red Cesti, Andi for the Tangelo Sagitta and Javarich for the Cocos and Olive Verus!, and anyone else who sent frogs recently. I am eager to see what this week's set looks like. Any speculation on which if any of the newer breeds it could contain? A good evening to all,
Months, if my recent experience is representative. The disappearing ones must just get 'swamped' by new arrivals.
Need Glacio Frog Need Glass Albeo Glacio or Any Glacio frog to complete sets. New to trading. Plus + name: Wysky0 thanks!
This & That My experience as well. Mentioned it here a while ago but no one at that time had experienced the same phenomenon. Never saw the frogs again - or, then again, maybe I did but simply didn't know for I was never into floods. Meanwhile, for those seeking to complete this week's set, there is a Golden Stellata in the FrogMart for 766 coins. You'd be a step away from the Golden Aurum Stellata! Next, in my random thoughts, prior to v. 1.2 of PF, I used to populate my catalog with various colors & patterns of Anura. Now that I have them all (thanks to some prodding on this site), I wonder how others choose what to catalog & why. Clearly, if one has a vast pile of coins, it'd be easy to just buy from the 'dex but not everyone can do that. So how *do* you arrange your catalog? Totally unrelated, as many here know I've been spending a good deal of time at the NB Support Site as both an advocate for PF (its development, its features, fixing its flaws for truth, justice, & the American way! [oops! got carried away there...sorry]) & a general help to those with problems. I had suggested in this forum many moons ago that some of the more "advanced" & "knowledgeable" players come over from time to time to help out. Well, someone apparently listened! Thanks, "David," whoever you are! You don't identify yourself as a TA devotée but one of your messages is kind of a giveaway. Fine by me, the more the merrier. The merrier the more likely that PF will see an update before the end of 2012. p.s.: Many thanks since my last message to those generous souls who sent me lovely froggies: Elektra for the Marine Obaro & the Maroon Signum (Συγχαρητήρια για το 90% του 'dex <--hope I got that right), laura for the Emerald Signum, Nirtew for the Orange Carota & Andi for the Blue Viduo.
I just wanted to thank everyone who has sent me frogs over the last few days! I never know what to send back in return, fearing you already have the frogs I'm sending. I horrible at remembering names, so thank you all. I have every frog pattern except Ludo, and am currently working on completing all of the weekly sets. I will eventually start the dexing process, but I'm sure I will complete some of that by working on the weekly sets.
Cataloging: Lisi, I used to keep mostly Anuras in my catalog too. Recently, I have been keeping random odds and ends there. Some are breeds not in my habs, a few are request frogs, but most are frogs that were good racers or frogs for breeding later. Many thanks to JavaRich for this week's set and the Beige Veru!, Lisi for the White Veru& Bulbus and Marine Bulbus!, Dom the the Golden Calyx, Nirtew for a Red and White Verus, Dean for the Axure Vinaceus, Nickspark for the Blue Stellata, Gracesqx for the Violet Sagitta, Zeady for the Blue Gyrus, Milow8740 for the Golden Veru, Laura for the Tangelo Calyx, and anyone else who sent gifts! A nice evening to all,
1 of this weeks set ready to pass on Thanks for the set Javarich!!! All came through and I am ready to pass it on if anyone wants it. My wife found a game that she is addicted to on the iPad and took the ipad last night . If there is a great need I can help out but otherwise I will for sure do next weeks set when the rime comes.
Domenic, shortbus, and other new frogging friends. Thanks everyone for sending me Glacios! got what I need to make the set. Let me know if I can send you anything. cheers, Wysky
Fort Knox Fort Knox? Well, not quite, but it sure feels that way. Both java AND Elektra sent me full Weekly Sets! Due to MB clutter, first set will be ready to send out to someone here who needs it, late this afternoon (in about 5-6 hours). PLEASE LET ME KNOW either here or via p.m. If no requests, I'll do "eeny, meeny, minee, moe" as my choosing method. Second set, *hopefully* ready sometime tomorrow - not all frogs are in MB yet & are vying for space with other newer frogs. When all are collected, they will also be gifted but more likely in bits & pieces, checking habs & seeing where the need lies, since many of you will have begun (or finished!) their sets by now. p.s. Thank you both, java & Elektra, so very much for your great & unexpected generosity. p.p.s.: Aside from the gift of these "Golden Oldies" (or Golden Young'ins"), I've received some other *very* fine froggies. Thanks to Elektra for the Marine Obara, Red Glacio, Tangelo Mixtus & Maroon Signum, Snappy for the Red Bulbus & Aqua Veru, Nirtew for the Orange Veru & Tangelo Magus & Andi for the Blue Viduo.
I also have this week's set available. Full or in part, just ask away. Thanks goes to Javarich, for the set.
