Pocket Frogs Trading Thread

I upgraded to iOS5 a couple of weeks ago and I had no issues whatsoever. My upgrade was done in about 30 minutes. It was pretty uneventful.

 

I wish I could say the same. Hopefully will return with good news. Error (-34) is causing issues to say the very least! Everything purchased crashes.

Edit: Okay I think I can breathe again! For whatever reason, updating a random App fixed it. I just am afraid to ever sync it again as my laptop only reads it as a new iPod.

Lucky you. Literally. It was like Halloween for me - one frightening thing after another (minus the candy...like what's with that?!). It worked out OK in the end but the end took a very long time & gave birth to quite a few grey hairs, I'm guessing.

p.s.: Thanks to the super generous gifters 'round these here parts who have made sure that my MB is never empty: Snappy, Shasta (wish you'd post, even tho' you are busy working), Nirtew (who is making certain I don't miss a single Veru or Magus, BTW - not even sure I'm not sending you the same frogs in return after a two or three days - if so, apologies), dlstar, & InBoots. You are all fantastic. Now let me breathe so I can do the Weekly Set!
p.p.s.: No new friends for me until my MB has time to catch its breath. Me as well. I'm under stress & have a hard time keeping up with the friends I do have. Don't want PF to become work rather than a game -if I were a lawyer, in that case, I'd have to recuse myself.
p.p.p.s.: I usually send something back right away to the gifter. Feel no such compunction on your part, if at all.

 

Congrats, Nirtew on completing the Cesti. Hope your next breed is as enjoyable to complete! I have been breeding the Veru and noticed the Cocos Cafea Veru tends to be dominant. Still trying to get it to produce a Cocos Ceres Veru. Oh, well. I will have to attempt again after this week's set is done!

I just wanted to thank everyone for the frogs. I'm very glad I came across this forum. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming. Thank you to JKlau for the 2 Stellatas and the Sol; Domenic for the 3 Vinaceus for the Picking Grapes set (perfect gift), the Viduo and Ligo; Dan for the 3 Lucas and many other frogs; Dean for the Trivium I needed; Dan or Dean for the Veru ( sorry can't remember who sent it); Snappy for the Serpentis; Firebird for the Velatus and Ludo; Laura for the many frogs. I know I missed some people and some frogs so but thanks everyone for sharing.

 

I can't recall lisi's experience. I had problem too but it was fixed.


One tip I recommended is to make a couple of backup copy before you upgrade so even worst things happened (I had my blank version overwrote my later version) you still have one to restore.

Finished dexing Detera and Viduo today! 64% dex now. Thanks for everyone's support!

HUGE thanks to JavaRich for my request frog.... After 20 failed attempts to get anything close, you saved me with the Yellow Tingo Lucas, the only good news is that tomorrow I should have som 14 odd Lucas frogs to tame and gift from all my failed attempts.

My experience in a non-Halloween nutshell. Knew iTunes would make a backup of my iPhone prior to updating for it always did. OK so far so good, it made a backup. Then, not far into the updating process, it gave a weird error about not being able to install. Huh?! Stuck. Decided to "Restore to previous backup." OK... but NOT OK - that, too, gave me an error. Tried a couple more times. No go. Meanwhile, phone was in weird state & I could do nothing - not even turn it off. Finally found a way to go back to iTunes restore from almost a week prior (I don't sync every day) & THAT worked. (By the way, in this tiny tale of woe, I'm skipping over my screaming, yelling, hair-pulling angst.)

So, don't rely on iTunes to do its backup prior to updating, do your own first. Totally agree with jklau on this one.

I'm faithful to traders here & don't advertise this forum in any way, shape, or form so as not to detract from it or any other forum dealing with PF. All trading partners I have come from this forum, are personal friends I converted to PF. or random people who have adopted me as a friend for reasons I know not & never post. The only other PF forum I participate actively in is the NimbleBit Support forum & it's not about trading, it's about problem-solving.

So no eggs from me. Not even an « omelette »

p.s.: So many froggies tapping, banging, slamming on my MB door today. As you know, we’ve been together forever so this letter is penned with considerable trepidation & under duress.
You know that I’ve been patient & tolerant with you inability to make room in your schedule to fulfill my needs. Yes, I do know you have to work, eat, sleep, keep abreast of the news, swim, see your friends, visit with your family, etcetera, but it’s one of the etcetera’s which is destroying our relationship: Pocket Frogs.

You’ve spoken to me countless (endless!) times about how much fun it is & how you really enjoy writing to some sort of weird forum about these frogs but, frankly, I’ve had enough. Personally I don’t care about sets (heck, if you want a set, let’s have fun & go shopping – I’ll buy you a chess set, if you’re game), requests (how can you put the needs of frogs before me?), & virtual friends – they’re only virtual, not real. Don’t even *begin* to say you’re not partial to Domenic15 (c’mon, who puts a number in their kid’s name anyway?!) & his ilk.

You’ve said that the game is relaxing but it doesn’t look that way. You’re constantly stressed out, filling out your teeny, tiny notebook with your friends’ names & their gifts, then consulting it, as if studying for a final exam, trying valiantly to keep up. Who asked you to do this? No one! All of this has made you tense & grouchy. When I say, “Then spend more time with me,” you reply, “Just a sec, just gotta figure out what to gift or write.” Then I say, “Is this a fun game we could play together?” you answer, “Well, it used to be.” That’s not a ringing endorsement. Face it, you’re not a gamer so don’t try to be one. No one, with a fairness shtick like you is ever destined to be a gamer.

Lisi, seriously, something has to go. You must make a choice: Pocket Frogs or me. But I’ll be fair about it, you can continue to play under two conditions: (1) you stop writing posts to the Touch Arcade forum & (2) you stop gifting for a while after sending out whatever you need to. If you can regain the true zen of Pocket Frogs, then you will have me back in your life.

I *do* understand your point of view. Haven’t been seeing much of you lately at all. Tomorrow it’ll be even worse since my day is scheduled from dawn to dusk, unlike most days. And believe me, I have tried to drop subtle hints in the forum about falling behind & mailbox full, in many of my last posts there. The problem is that the people there are too nice, too generous, & too numerous! Just as I cannot ignore fairness, they cannot deal with their innate generosity – I get it – please forgive them for it’s really not their fault & it’s probably beyond their control.

How about a compromise, my dearest Free? What if I take a week or two off from trading/gifting (after I’ve reciprocated)? I have already bred the Weekly Set so I don’t need a set (oh, yeah, you don’t know what that means…) plus I can breed my own Request Frogs as they appear (FWIW, Free, that gets *me*, not the frogs, something).

If I can again find the “zen” of Pocket Frogs & if, at that point, I moderate my forum participation & my trading to, say, one frog/day per person (even if the person sends me more…ouch, just got an awful pain in my fairness center!) & not feel obliged to post every day, would that suffice? But please let me help people at the NimbleBit site – they need me & no one trades there so no notebook needed.

I’d hate to lose you, Free, my oldest, dearest friend. Please accept my counter offer. Please!
