Like to share a moment to everyone here. I received a frog request and when I open it the send bottom is green. I happened to have that particular frog in my habitat! Must be my lucky day.

Thanks for everyone's support and gifts. I have gone up a level and now dex 62% at a rate of 3 day per dex % I hope everyone is going alright as well.

Now you're cookin' -level 25 (that means more potential frogs/potions in pond at a time). Mucho congratulations!

It's a bit disconcerting to find a place so far removed from the space / time/ competitive/ "me first" continuum. My first reaction to this place was very much the same as yours when I stumbled upon this forum. Didn't think I'd stay all that long but there's something here which is magnetically unique. (to be continued in answer to DeanK's post)

I agree about the "not quite so competitive" part. It's notable that, IMO (based on my experience) many of the people revealing their gender are female. Wonder if one of those "shoot 'em up, dice 'em, splice 'em" games have the same proportion of female participation.

Also totally agree that I would NOT play if this game required "babysitting" it day in & day out. And the fact that I've said more times than I can count that I'm not a 'dexer indicates that competition is not a factor in my enjoyment of the game.

There's another element to the appeal of this game & this forum as well: it's a long-term game. I've been playing regularly for about a year, albeit not many minutes or hour/day yet I'm only a fraction of the way through it. People who continue to play, very often continue to participate in this forum (take Dean288367 who has done 100% of the 'dex) & that builds more than a thread with disparate, vaguely related posts (as on FB) but more of an ongoing, personally interactive community. Anonymity can enhance "competitive personality spill-overs" in forums that you mention but this forum, with its ongoing, persistent participation, does not provide fertile soil for anger, antipathy, & antisocial interchanges.

Calvarias finally made it into MB & should arrive shortly, short. I never ask, yet you send. Your weekly generosity & phenomenal effort to breed, tame, & then send out rafts & rafts of Weekly Sets or the fixins' doesn't go unnoticed by me. Certain it's most appreciated by others as well. You set a pretty high bar.

Good luck with that exhortation! You're swimming against the tide here. ;)

p.s.: Many, many thanks to all of you who continue to ensure that my Express MB doesn't suffer from unfullfillment: ReachNoble6 (soon to be shortened to Reach), Elektra, danj, java, Snappy, andi, jklau, Nirtew, Dom, Snappy, & InBoots. Many of you are completely incorrigible & sent me multiple gifts. And, again, thanks to short for the set. When grown, it will seek a good home/homes.

    A saint??? *blush*

More of a hopeless addict, I thought... But thank you so much for the kind words.

My own thanks to everyone once again, many of you several times over. Highlights include the Serpentis from Dean, set breeders from Shortbus, and quite a collection of Gyrus from Shasta (congrats on the new job!), but there has been a whole lot more than that, with gifts the past few days from practically everyone on my list, often several times over.

I think you are all wonderful. :)

Oh boy, I think I'm on the slow side! I downloaded this some time in mid-July, the day I bought the refurbished iPod, and I'm only this far. You guys certainly will keep me at it though - if it were remotely competitive I think it'd lose its casual, almost meditative (thinking of the pond) quality.

More froggies made it into the Mailbox today!
jklau for the calvaria and inserno, dean28 for the sol, andiNZ for the serpentis, snappy for the ornatus, kittenplan for the bulbus (for the Melon & Seeds set!), and javarich for the coolest frog I've seen yet - a glass chroma inserno. Can I keep it forever? :p

Again there's a backlog of frogs trying to get in, just wanted to tack up an updated list of thanks! As always my stamps are minimal but like Laura, I use Evernote to keep track of who sends what and who I still owe! (that's right, I refuse to see kindness unpaid :p)

    A sad surprise

My 20 mnth old son had an attempt to crack my iphone and finally factory reset my phone. I tried to restore from my backup yesterday but somehow the "blank profile" overwrote my latest backup. I am now restored with my backup on 18 Aug.

The impact is I am now dropped from level 36 to 33 (Not a big deal), dex dropped from 62% to 55% (Big deal!), about 10 weekly sets behind and I don't even have a Bulbus in my collection.

I had a copy of icolud two weeks ago during my iOS upgrade but I don't want to touch it before I know how to restore my PF probably or if it is even possible. If someone know how to playwith this icloud thing please let me know.

I have decided to drop the other games I am playing but I will still keep playing PF. I hope everything will be the same in turn of gifting.

Thanks you for your continuous support and I have changed my signature backwards :(

Wow, huge bummer. That's why everyone needs to remember to backup often!

Just wondering, if you had the same Pocket Frogs version since August 18th, have you tried logging out of Plus+ and logging back in? Plus+ has online saving and it might get some of your frogs back.

Thanks. Let me get myself together before sending something back. I am trying to rescue my record from my icloud backup. Wish me luck.

Really, really sorry. Two thoughts: 1) according to TiltMyTouch & NB, all data is stored on the Plus+ Network servers. Deleting & logging in with the same account, might very well restore your data & your spirits; 2) you have one heck of a bright 20 month old son! And now you'll have a super story to tell him when he's a teen engaged in his own games.

I read this post & it could have been written by me. Previous to PF, I had Koi Pond (some here may remember a top non-game app from two to three years ago). I would play with my fish, watch the water swirl, the fish dart then nip, enjoy the color & the peaceful setting. It relieved my tension & distracted my mind when I needed it.

Then I found PF. Didn't read the instructions much, just enjoyed the slightly more active aspect of having my Anuras hop around the pond, well beyond their full maturity. Loved the sounds, the movement, the surprise gifts. Enjoyed decorating the habs. It was only bit by bit that I even stumbled upon Awards. Then, it was the social, interactive part of the game I found here, on TA, then this forum. Finally it was the Weekly Sets.

In a way, the original zen aspect of the game has become less so for me. Like you, absolutely wanting to reciprocate, I began to keep names on scraps of paper. When they proved insufficient & unreliable, I bought a tiny notebook where I write down the person, frog sent to me, & cross off the name when I've sent something back which is usually when I realize I've received something. Since I had played for quite a while in a non-interactive way, I had a backlog of stamps plus I only fill requests for frogs for stamps so I have more to spare.

The non-gamer in me makes little use of potions. Even more rarely using stamps for myself. The non-gamer finds it hard to turn away a high value gift frog although I know it's stupid to receive the same frog again & again. My MB is constantly full & sometimes I really wish it weren't for time I used to spend taming & relaxing is spent more on checking my notebook to make sure I'm not sending back to a gifter the frog s/he just sent me (I make no such promises about frogs sent 3 or more frogs ago).

At a point in time not long ago, I thought I was "burning out." Now I just think I'm a bit singed around the edges. My ability to accept frogs/gifts in the pond is nill for my MB is always full - yet that's my choice/fault. Think I just need the discipline to tap decline. Again, discipline is a gamer's attribute but it's something I will either have to work on or take a break.

For those uber-generous folks among you (& there are many!), one gift/day, if that, is really fine.

p.s.: Speaking of generous, I've many, many people to thank since the last round of "thanks." There are all the wonderful frogs I received from: ReachNoble, jklau, Andi, Elektra, Nirtew, Laura, Snappy, & dlstar. Most of you sent more than one gift.
p.p.s.: Pretty soon, it's gonna go from SRO to "by invitation only" to get into my MB for it's clearly the "In Place" to be!
p.p.p.s.: Weekly Set will be ready to ship out tomorrow in whole or in part- let me know if you need it.

Sorry to hear of your problems. As it has been said a few times, plus+ should be of help to you (Tilt's and Lisianne's post).

Keep us posted on your progress. I have suspended my gifting for now in case you need extra frogs sent your way ( I am sure that no one will have problems with their gifts going to you ).

    GOOD LUCK!!

Oh no, jklau I'm echoing the shout to help if I can - you've been so generous and I couldn't keep up with repaying you before but I'd like to try to help you recover from your son's mischief.

lisianne I hear you! I only accept request frogs if stamps are involved. And the Evernote is great for keeping tabs on who I've sent something back to. :) The discipline to decline is a tough lesson indeed...also not to use stamps to ship a legendary frog faster, haha. There are definitely a lot of potions in my arsenal. Which is odd because before I came here (two weeks ago?) I'd run through them much faster and had something like 150 stamps. How that reversed!

Thanks a little early today. :) jklau, lisianne, andinz, dlstar, shortbus, and laurafitz!

The game got buggy last night. I cleared out my MB a little and declined four frogs to make room for ones I really needed sooner rather than later. Then the game resent them as if I never declined so now I have two of the same frog in some cases. Odd!

Getting closer to see if frogs expire. 8 frogs away to be exact. ;)

Getting twins or even sometimes triplets is something that the game does do every once in a while. We have never been able to figure out what causes it and why it happens to some players and not others.

Thank you to the following people for gifts:
BT (hi old friend) danjarus, InBoots, Maholah, javaRich, muzzie8, jklau, Snappy, DeanKeith, Quossum, Nirtew, LauraFitz, coolguy707, Elektra and Reachnoble.:) Hope I did not miss anyone, if I did Thanks.

Good luck with the PF restore, Jklau! Your son may be programming your primary computer in no time. Hide the Keyboard! :)

Lisi, I still have Koi Pond installed on my iPod. :) Had installed it before Pocket Frogs also and liked to feed the fish and swirl the water to watch the fish hide.

Thanks to Jklau for the Azure Callaina Bulbus, Dlstar for the Olive Tingo Serpentis, Lisi for the Purple Caelus Veru, Dean for the Black Tingo Corona, Gracesqx for the Lime Cafea Insero, Andi for the Azure Muscus Serpentis, and Lebrondo for the Royal Picea Biplex.

A nice evening to all :)
