This was serious, heart-pounding stuff. First the error message on installing the new OS, then the inability to restore with the cryptic (-1) or (-2) message (maybe a reflection on my poor math skills). Then pulling out my hair, biting my nails, rebooting my computer, trying still again - all the while my iPhone stuck in a state of black limbo, unable to turn off or on.

Remembering, finally, there was more than one iTunes backup, I tried for an older one & succeeded. When the dust settled, iOS 5 had been installed after all!

All this for a perfectly ordinary, non-modified (not even a speeding ticket!) phone. And NO previous errors in backing up either.

Then, I needed to log on to iTunes BUT, when I created my account, I just used a name, not an email address. Took another round of groaning & teeth-gnashing for there was NO way I could get into my phone & its apps again until I went through this new interrogation process (questions about localization, iCloud, speeding tickets, shoe size, etc.). Calmer heads (err rather "head") prevailed & I went online & logged into my account & figured out where & how to change my log in name to an email address.

And this was just the updating process! The final straw was with the restoration onto my new iPhone & the problems that presented. But enough about me. Siri said if I was this upset, I might consider seeking professional help.

OK, but after I get that professional help.

Congratulations! You must be bursting with pride. Lord (& this board) knows you've watched every game & you're as faithful as they come. You'd be delighted to know that Le Figaro described the French as "valorous" in their headlines of the game result. Think I'm more into PF than rugby - hmmm, maybe the blues should try their respective hands at that! ;)

p.s.: Thanks so very much to those generous gifters who brightened my morning: Snappy for the Bulbus, Nirtew for both a Floresco & a Veru, andi for a Mixtus, InBoots for a Corona & an Ocularis, Elektra for a Bulbus, an Orbis, & an Arbor. I'm behind in reciprocating last two gifts but I will.

HAHA oh Lisianne, I don't think I could go through that at all. Maybe if I get an actual iPhone I'll risk it but I'm developing wrinkles far too early as it is. And thank you for the Corona! :)

And thank you to everyone who's tried to send gifts - my stamp collection is now down to 2 so a number have been bounced back to you. I really appreciate the effort though! I'm contemplating the purchase of something in the Pro shop to deal with this.

To keep from biting my nails down to bloody wrist-stumps while watching the RWC final last night, I managed to finish off the Mixtus. Will be sending out the resulting froggies today.

Not sure what I'll move on to next; I've been contemplating doing another triple, but that just reminds me how obsessed I am with this game!

Dean sent a load of Serpentis a little while ago :)D), boosting my dex hugely, so perhaps I'll fill the few remaining gaps before I decide on that...

Is there anyone left who still needs String of Pearls? I'll hold them for a day before selling them, so if you want them, say the word. :)

Oh boy. Um. A single Purple would save me a day! I keep breeding Marines! Other than that, I'm covered!

Edit: Scratch that! lisianne tempted me with two gorgeous frogs and the mailbox is full and I'm out of stamps, haha. I'll breed it! :D

Edit2: Thank you SnappyMcFrog for trying to send a frog through! I hope I'll have loaded up on stamps by tomorrow. :) You know, instead of studying like I should be.

Edit3: Thank you andinz1970 for trying too! :)

    Mailbox and stamps

    @InBoots

Sounds like you are having some problems with too many gifts:) A few things that you may or may not know.

    1) If your mailbox is full and you find a present in the pond (frog or scenery) and try to accept it , you will NOT be able to do so and it is gone.

    2) If your mailbox is full and you get a gift from another player you have 2 options
    a) you can sell it and get about half the value of the frog (no one here has a problem with this so do not feel guilty if you do this).
    b) you can accept it and it will continue to try to get into your mailbox. In other words, you will not lose the frog and can accept it when you have room. You cannot send the frog back to the sender.

If you have not purchased the express mailbox and can do so, it is something that I would highly recommend. It is better then buying stamps. Also the nursery kit is a great investment.

A few things I wished I had known before I joined this thread.

There are some new people on this thread (WELCOME) and not sure what level everyone is at and what they know, so decided to do a quick recap of things I learned from the knowledgeable Old Timers that where here when I joined. OMG, I guess I am one now:p

Mailbox and gifts: see my post 21547.

    Froggydex:
As soon as you breed a frog and place a egg in your nursery you can check your froggydex and it will show if you got the one you wanted. It is not necessary for the egg to hachet or mature to get credit for it.

If you have a frog in your mailbox it will not be added to your froggydex until it is in one of your habitats.

If you get a frog as a gift or find one in the pond that you do not have in your froggydex it will say "NEW" (be careful of the frogs in your mailbox as mentioned above).

    Pond:
As soon as a frog hachets it can be taken to the pond. This allows you to look for presents and also for every fly you (your frog) eats you mature your frog. Size does matter - large flies are worth extra time and 10xp points.

I am sure that I have missed somethings that someone else found helpful , so please add to my list.

Hahaha it's a tough life. ;) I spend a lot of time in the pond taming so I pick up a bunch too!
Thank you very much for the breakdown! I was Googling whether or not the sender loses the frog and hoped they wouldn't (such a waste for them!) and got mixed answers. I'm glad to have that cleared up! I got a little confused when someone sent me a frog, I clicked Accept though the mailbox was full and it only notified me once more and then...gone. Or I'm crazy and pressed something else but I'm pretty sure that happened!
The express mailbox is awfully tempting. Alas, only $3.09 left on the iTunes card! The stamps I'm more concerned about in order to reciprocate everyone's generosity.

If you get a frog as a gift or find one in the pond that you do not have in your froggydex it will say "NEW" (be careful of the frogs in your mailbox as mentioned above).

Did not know that!! Excellent tip!

As long as you keep hitting accept the frog will be saved. It does take some time for it to ask you again but you can force it by closing the game and then coming back. Hope that helps.

Are you sure it doesn't expire? I had the game off for half an hour or so and haven't seen Snappy's frog since I last posted here. (just opened it again) Not that I have room, just figuring things out. :)
If only the pond saved this stuff. I've been thrown at least four Biplexes while taming I couldn't take. :(

Edit: Oh wait, there it is. :)

It should not "expire". I know people that have had frogs in "cyperspace" for over a week and still got them. Please keep me posted on this.

    OK, just saw your post.

Sorry to worry you! I must have hit something like "sell" yesterday. It's such a tease, wiggling a cool frog in front of your nose. "Want it? Well you can't have it for another two days!"

I have found that racing a frog can also trigger delivery of frogs to the mailbox. It usually happens at an inopportune time, though, such as when I attempt to obtain a new frog via racing. Thanks again for the Verus:)

Thanks to Quo for the cool Aqua Muscus Veru, Andi for the Marine Tingo Mixtus, Gracesqx for the Orange Callaina Ornatus, Nirtew for the Golden Carota Veru, Jklau for the Red Picea Calvaria and Yellow Carota Lucus, and mysterious Black Signum, Shasta for the Pink Cafea Insero, Lisi for the neat Orange Viola Bulbus and Aqua Ceres Floresco, Inboots for the Cocos Tingo Arbor (you're welcome!), Lebrondo for the Marine, Glass, and Pink Ludos, and Spleen for the Purple Muscus Roboris!

A good evening to everyone, :)

Your suggestions are ALL excellent. I knew none of the above when I began playing & it cost me any number of times. I also agree whole-heartedly that the Express MB was a godsend since waiting almost two days for a frog was crazy & I don't often spend stamps on myself. Plus, for anyone serious about this game, the Babyproofing Kit is a must. I am lobbying for an Express Nursery (why shouldn't it function like the MB in terms of frog gestation?), among other things like FAQs & Detailed Instructions, on the GetSatisfaction website.

Speaking of which, dean, with your experience you'd be a real asset there. I may even have told you that before. Perhaps you think that site takes something away from this one but I genuinely believe it helps the devs support their product & themselves. They profit - we profit because they update their apps.

As for other things I wished I had known - the thing that brought me to this forum was I didn't understand XP for I thought they were interchangeable with coins (duh? doubt anyone here is so non-game savvy as me, however). Then, even when I knew the difference, when I got to a high enough level, it looked like the green progress bar was stuck but it was the numbers below I should have been looking at (too lazy, vain, whatever to use reading glasses). Some kind soul here helped me out.

I already knew about Awards but Sets were a total mystery. The first I ever saw contained frogs I didn't have access to so I figured it wasn't a feature I'd ever use. Little did I know. Plus, again newbie ignoramus, I thought people (not the game) were making Requests! Since I didn't know them, I ignored them.

So I'll take you up on your suggestion for suggestions & post some other questions that people asked re PF on the support site & the answers:

    1) No, you cannot play the same game on two devices at once (NB even says so but remarkably some people still ask).
    2) Yes, you can transfer your game from one iDevice to another (but, see above).
    3) As javaRich found out on their forum, if you want to change your username to something way cooler (java, you did well!) you need to begin a whole new game.
    4) Love the network or hate it, Plus+ backs up your data (according to devs ~4 hours, in theory)
    5) Data from v. 1.1.x of PF is totally incompatible with v. 2.x. Unless you update your old device to the latest version before logging in with a new device with the latest version, you will start from the beginning. More ouches than you can count, including a friend of mine.
    6) According to NB, they are responsible for the game, Apple for the money you spent on IAP's, & mobage for those Android users among us
    7) No, PF does not currently support playing with two accounts on the same device
    8) The total number of habs is 16 (nursery + 15) & the total number of possible frogs is 19,504.
    9) The list of ALL sets past & present can be found here: http://pocketfrogs.wikia.com/wiki/Weekly_Sets
    10) All the data on breeds can be found here: http://pocketfrogs.wikia.com/wiki/Breed

p.s.: A small suggestion, InBoots, make friends with someone who will want to get you another iTunes gift card! ;) In the meantime, please don't send me anything. Seriously.
p.p.s.: More extensive thanks today to you, InBoots (two gifts at that! again, find that friend!) & Shasta (another two gifts). You guys are spoiling me & my expiration date will just come that much sooner.
p.p.p.s.: Will be gone the better part of tomorrow. If you send, I probably won't be able to receive or reciprocate until the evening (when I might be too exhausted to do so).

Hope I don't step on any toes

    Hello Everyone,

As I set here and try to distract myself from the game: CARDINALS vs some texas team :p I would like to make a comment on something that I have noticed in the last couple of weeks.

I have not had much time for PF lately but I do try and read the thread every day or so and keep up with what is going on. What I have noticed is that alot of people are requesting that no frogs be sent and that they will not send anything back or that they are out of stamps/coins and please not to send anything for awhile because they cannot send anything back.

I know that this is a "trading" thread but alot of us use it more as a gifting thread and try to help out other people addicted to PF. NO ONE SHOULD GIFT THEMSELF OUT OF THE GAME!! I have seen this happen and hope that no one every does it again.

I may be speaking for myself but a gift is just that - a GIFT. I would appreciated a Thank You but do not put your game in jeopardy trying to reciprocate for every thing I send. Some players are in a better situation to send alot and others are not and they should not feel bad about it. Gifting should not be a chore.

I remember when I joined the thread and could only send Bovis and everyone was sending me Verus. I really felt bad until someone said "One day you will be the one sending Verus and getting a Bovis and it will not bother you at all" No truer words were spoken.

So please remember, we are here to help each other to the ultimate goal, to have fun and to achieve 100% of the froggydex.

lisianne, thank you for the kind words but I feel that a support site is more for technical problems and computers and I are like oil and water:) My experience is more with common everyday situations.

I second what dean has said regarding 'please don't send gifts'. A gift is just that, and most players send back and forth when they can. Everyone's time that they can put into this game varies depending on their RL circumstances. Please don't ever feel obligated to send me a frog for every single one I send to you, if you check the 'Gifts Sent' leaderboard, you will realise two things:

The depths of my addiction to this game; and

That you will probably never keep up.

(Though Dom got away from me when I had a slow patch a while back, and I now can't seem to catch him, either! :))

I send out the bulk of what I breed/receive, because as much as I love receiving gifts, I love to think that others get that same buzz when they get something NEW from me. Wish I could look up their froggydex to target gifting though...

The occasional gift when you can keeps you on my Plus list; every so often I go through and purge the ones I haven't seen in a while (and by a while, I mean it usually takes a few weeks before I notice someone seems to have stopped playing PF, either temporarily or for good).

Re: the mailbox queue, my sister stopped playing PF ages ago (which led me to this forum), and I mailed myself the bulk of her froggies. With other gifts coming in, it took more than two weeks to get them all! Just keep hitting 'accept'. :)

Still have string of pearls minus one purple bulla, free to a good home. :)
Edit: Scratch that, found I had an extra purple, so still a full set available.

Oh, and dean, there are a few more Serpentis trying to squeeze into my mb today, not sure if they are new gifts, or these guys have been exploring the far reaches of cyberspace and decided to turn up just now, but either way, thank you. The ones I have seen are all new.

Sounds like a challenge to me. Will have to try and do something about that when my schedule changes.

BTW, Where is your partner in crime, shouldn't he be back from his golf weekend by now?

I guess so, but hopefully he's too tired to tame froggies. I've managed to catch up a few while he's been busy. :)

It does help that today is a public holiday here too (NO, not because we won the rugby...:D).

Cardinals - that IS football, right? Sorry, but rugby really is the only sport I know anything about.

Cardinals could be football if you live in Airzona ( they moved from St. Lous a few years ago) BUT I am talking about

    CARDINALS BASEBALL

We are in the World series but not doing good tonight. That texas team may tie the series 2-2 (it's the best out of seven) .

BTW I heard that they planned the RWC for the holiday in New Zealand. :D
