Dom and Dreamwatch I think you are both doing Clunicula . I am waiting for my habitats to mature and have some room in my mailbox so if you guys want me to do a color for you let me know. I was thinking of Olive but can do any color. I could send them to one person and then that person can send them to the other one. If you want to do this let me know and who wants them first ?
Wow, all 37 pond-available breeds. That's a very good return on pond presents. Here are some stats of mine. After taming 394 frogs in about 120,000 hops, I got 168 level 16 frogs, 1,645 stamps, and 1,482 potions - the more stamps than potions surprised me. That means it takes me on average about 700 hops to get a level 16 frog, about 75 hops to get 1 stamp, and about 80 hops to get 1 potion. The stamps and potions of course coming in groups. Also notice that that it's taking me about 300 hops to tame a frog. That's way above average. It's because I hop for presents rather than flies. I think Cygnet7 may be doing the same.
Interesting, I did not check my hops to get the pond presents but I was surprised it took so long to get them all. Looking at your stats, I guess I was lucky. I was getting discouraged because I got #36 at present 511 and then it took till 687 to get the last one. I was soooo happy to see that Amfractus. I normally go for flies until I get down to 20 need for taming and then I start looking for presents. No frog is allowed to leave the pond until they find me something good.
Sent you a Glass Folium Bulbus Regarding breeding, what is the maximum number of jumps have you counted in chasing another frog to breed with in the pond? It seems the higher level frogs take more jumps, but it also seems to be somewhat random. I have noticed that if it is a new frog it also seems to take more jumps. For me it was nine times the last time I counted (Bulbus chasing a Stellata). Thank you!
When you guys say you hop the pond looking for presents, do you have a strategy, or do you just keep hopping and hopping off the screen, as opposed to hopping amongst the same four lily pads catching flies? What about that well-known PF "urban legend" (or maybe it should be "pond legend") that hopping in the direction that pond frogs are facing will lead you to presents? Have you found any truth to that? I do use that strategy, mostly just to make pond hopping more interesting, but to me it seems there's some truth to it. But maybe that's just wishful thinking. I need to do some sort of experiment with it. --Q
I can't help with that one. I stopped breeding in the pond a long time ago because I never seemed to get what I needed.
I think the that hopping in direction of pond frogs is just that - an urban legend. I used to follow that strategy and then I started hopping in the exact opposite direction and got just as many presents. In addition Ian Marsh in some post stated that the position of pond presents is entirely random. With random positioning, any hop direction is as good as another, so I just keep hopping "north". My reason for this is I can hop the fastest by just hopping north, so I get the most "hops per minute."
I agree with Nirtew. I tried the "pond legend" and found that it does not really help me. I also tend to go north most of the time because I can do it faster. If I find 2 or 3 presents going north I will switch to south for awhile (I normally take my frogs to the pond before they are mature) BTW, Nirtew I also tend to find more stamps than potions. It is frustrating because it only takes 6 stamps to get a level 16 out of the mailbox but 12 potions to mature in the habitat.
so yours is a combination stategy. i'll hop some more after taming but often I'll give up especially if I've got a lot of frogs to tame. Also if I've got a present that I want to get out fast, I'll hop for flies, which takes me about 40% of the hops that my usual strategy does. But usually I sit back, go zenic and hop.
In need of a bulbus! If somebody has one they can send me, i'd really appreciate it and can send any other frog of your choice in return. My Plus+ ID is techtician. Thanks!
Yeah, I often dream of a potion equivalent to Express Mail. Maybe Industrial Strength Potions? I try to compensate by going after high value potion reward frogs. I keep the 16 secondary Veru colors so I can get the reward frog without too much pain.
I guess it is a combination. If I am taming a high level frog I want to get at least half way thru before looking for presents. If a frog gives me a good present and is tamed I leave the pond but every once in a while I will get a "good" frog that will gvie me up to 10 presents. This is how I do it, after I receive a present I will hop about 30 times in the same direction looking for another one. If I don't get one I leave the pond but if I get one I will hop another 30 times. I continue this until I don't get a present.
I'm going to try that. Believe it or not I once had a taming in which I got 5 Verus in about 80 hops.
When I tame frogs in the pond and land on a present, I usually search nearby, as many times there is at least one more present a few lily pads over. Sometimes there is not, but can anyone confirm this observation? I realize the generation of presents by PF is random, but it seems more than a mere coincidence. Thanks to Shashta for the Verus and Bullas and to Milow8740 for the Veru.
I'm another one of the hordes asking for a Bulbus. Plus+ ID: KaneToad92056. I will fulfill yours or anyone else's trade request in return. Thank you & happy breeding! Level 23, Froggydex = 11% Finished: Anura
I'm looking for the following frogs: Persona, Trivium, Bulbus - with hopes for the Bulbus first since that's what's required for the weekly set. Also - does anyone know if the new frog breeds ever show up in the races? I was trying that to get them, but haven't had any luck after running 30 or so races. Plus+ id: sionell Thanks!
