This game is making me mad. It's addictive. I have a love/hate relationship. I delete it. I pace back and forth. I download and install it AGAIN. I have such a range of emotions right now. I have to go play it again...
How do you redo a battle on a completed planet to get better than your original result or grind gold/items?
The difference is that at least with Clash of Clans, you can still play the game while it's upgrading. In this game, you effectively can't play while your ship is upgrading, unless I'm missing something. You can try to attack with a weaker ship but that wasn't effective in my case. I'm not as high a level as some of you guys but you can't really compare this to the timers in Clash of Clans.
No thanks Freemium games are grift. All the rationales for why devs need to do this are BS. It's pure greed. Just a way to fleece rubes. I'd rather pay $20 or more for a quality game that I can play at my leisure than twice that much in a slow, frustrating shakedown. Have fun kids.
You can have more then one ship. So upgrade one and fly the other. It still is a big time sink, but there are lots of different ships you can try out.
I can barely afford to purchase a new ship, let alone two w/o buying a ton of antimatter with cash. I've been having a blast with this game, but I got about half-way through the first sector and suddenly hit the point where everything is getting hard, expensive, or both. For those of you who have made it past the first sector (or even deep into the first sector), what was your strategy? Did you favor a particular kind of ship? Weapon type? What did you upgrade? And most importantly, how much cash did you have to spend? I really want this game to be playable. I'm willing to give them a reasonable amount of money, because it has the potential to be a really fun game! I refuse to let it be a money pit, though.
Having made it past the first and second sectors myself and now 'plundering' my way through the third, I have reasonable confidence in my strategy. For the first sector, I saved my antimatter as best I could. I found that movement was pretty key and adopted a kind of 'hit and run' tactic. My ship of choice at the time was a Roswell, which had a good balance of weapons, speed, hangars etc. I had no specific preference for any weapon types at this point in the game as gold was scarce so I preferred to experiment with the Forge for various items (mostly techmods like shields and health regens). This ship served me well into the second sector, by which point it became clear I needed to upgrade my ship, which in turn led to my earlier posts about the absurd length of time it takes to complete this*. So I bit the bullet. I couldn't physically get any further without waiting an eon to progress so I shelled out 2.99 on antimatter and bought a Tunguska. Needless to say, this helped massively. By the time you hit the third galaxy, you will really want to start specialising in specific weapon types and picking up techmods that complement these. You're able to consistently earn enough gold to simply buy the basic common weapons and mods you need, then use the forge to improve them (of which, I've saved enough antimatter over time to purchase an additional two slots, which is pretty essential considering the timers). * It gets to the point where 10 days is so long, that the 'upgrade' you had planned for your ship is hugely outdated by the time it comes out of the forge! In two days, I've gone up three additional levels and I expect that by the time the upgrade for my other ship finishes, I'll be around level 15+. I would therefore strongly recommend against using the forge to upgrade your ship and instead play around with buying, selling and making parts. tldr; - Don't upgrade your ships! At least, not in the early and mid game - Try and use parts that complement each other with techmods - Speed and range are your friends - Buy as many forge tabs as you can with antimatter Hope this helps!
I'm still on the first sector but have now saved up 1100ish antimatter so want a new ship. Thinking the Yellow Tail Hybrid looks good, what are peoples thoughts, anyone got a preference of carrier or destroyer?
To upgrade a Lvl 2 ship to lvl 7 takes 6 hours and 35.000 Gold and with 2 forges this does not hinder playing normal with your current ship. I also took a Roswell as main ship, as it is fast and you always have at least one turret on the enemy. I had the luck to buy a very far reaching beam which also heals my ship which is just invaluable. I like this game and have not spent anything yet. I am not sure if i will have to, it seems that i could be in a corner soon (Lvl 7 now). f.e. Some planets want obviously a tank as you are entrapped with 2 enemies and can't maneuver. But t is fun and requires skill, the graphics are gorgeous and Backflip usually makes quality games. Regarding IAP i am a fan of Backflip's Dragonvale and have bred ALL the dragons without spending money. But at the last special event i spent 20 for a special island. Why? Because i had almost 2 years of fun with this game and the developers deserve it.
The 10 day timer that I hit came up as a result of pretty much the exact same circumstance as what you've just done there. I had a blue rarity level 8 Roswell. To go from 8 to 10 cost me 45,000 gold and 10 1/2 days. Extreme timers could either be a result of keeping a ship and continually upgrading it, it could be level based or a combination of both it seems.
Don't remember exactly. 2-3 hours. It wasn't the 4th upgrade, it upgraded it to lvl 4 so 3rd upgrade. Also, it was the X-24 Cruiser.
I'll guess you were very lucky then! I've upgraded a blue ship and got back another blue so the stars may have aligned for you.
