Haha!! So after typing this I load up the game because I have a finished forge waiting for me. I have 3 common beam turrets forged each at around 4000 DPS. I open the crate and get an Epic beam turret with 5815 DPS and 1330 range. I just don't get it...
Its not very profitable for Plundernauts to have the forge work to upgrade things each and every time. This keeps players, well, playing. Of course its frustrating but perhaps the developers don't realize that it could be a dealbreaker. I for one am frightened by the prospect of playing multiplayer against a foe who may be at a lower level, but had epic everything. What angers me more is the inventory cap. I find myself with actually alot of beam turrets. At level 15, I could forge them together to get some legendary/epics but each time I level up they become nearly obsolete. so I just leave em and make due till I have to.
I agree that the forge needs some work to be effective and more than just a slot machine to keep people playing. Far too random and too time consuming. I would like to see an item that could be added to a forge mix which could upgrade a specific item to the next level. Make it expensive, that's fine. I would like to see a way to retain and improve my favorite turrets that match my playstyle. Once they are outleveled, I have to rely on chance to get something that's even close. Honestly I am quite confused how others are about to churn out legendaries on a regular basis... I have been at the level cap for 2 weeks now, and have 2 forge tabs going constantly. I have only ever seen 2 legendary items produced since I started playing 6 weeks ago.
I restarted the game and saved all my rare and epic items for forging once I hit level 23. I have now been running 4 forge tabs at level 23 for 3+ weeks non-stop (so about 2 forges a day each) and have not produced a single legendary. All of my rare or epic items only produced more of the same level (I only forge rares with rares, epics with epics), with an occasional bump from rare to epic, but none from epic to legendary. I did not have this issue the first time through... not sure if they made it harder to get legendaries or I just have way shittier luck this time...
Totally agreed. I have saved anything above rare to combine with only the same quality items, hoping for some solid consistency. Often times 3 rare/epic identical items leave me with only one I am all for a lucky draw here and there, but the forge would be MUCH more satisfying if I knew what to reliably expect at the end of a long wait time. I spent $10 early on at about level 6 or so, but I don't assume that people who pump money into the game have much better luck...
Ugh. After reading these replies I'm ready to give up and quit. I've been grinding away thinking it would yield some good results. It seems like others are encountering the same thing. BTW, there's no doubt in my mind that when the new levels open up that the level 23 cap will be increased to a much higher level cap. Then all of the poor people who worked and worked to upgrade their turrets to something like a level 23 Epic will have completely useless turrets when they're at level 33 or 40. As an example, I got a level 13 legendary torpedo turret and love it but it only does 635 DPS so at this point it's useless for the most part. Really a bummer... One more thing...I wish the game would start you in the shipyard. Why does the game have to load and load and load...then you start at a screen that has absolutely no value...so then you hit next and load and load and load to the map screen...then you press the shipyard button and AGAIN you load and load and load. Really annoying. Start the game in the shipyard where you can look at your loadout, review your forge, look at the shop, etc.
Agree on turning off parrot. Lucky again forged another legendary. As for the update will be interesting to see new level limit, but yes if it takes you to current max it will leave all this forging to waste.
In the Polaris system, the lower left quadrant. The loot crate level ( I don't know the name). If you are able to ram the icebergs enough, you get like 10 antimatter. Its tricky tho as sometimes you hit them out of the 2D plane the ships move on and you can't finish them off.
I'd like to see them fix the sound. Its really obnoxious when youre playing music. Anyways I finally decked out my ship with only legendary items. I think I'm just gonna stop until they add more stuff.
Would you mind posting your loadout and ship? I'm curious. Sorry if I missed it previously, I just showed up to the thread a few days ago.
Pimp my roswell Not to request without contributing, here's my current setup... Been using the Roswell since level 6, never had a regret with this baby. IMO it's the best balance of cost and versatility (as long as the turrets have some significant range). I still have a level 16 ship but that's never been an issue. Currently saving antimatter for a level 24 or 25 version when the level cap increases. I bought one at level 6 and one at level 16. I used to use the speed techmod, but as time went on, the more powerful turrets made kiting a joke. When battles are over in 3 seconds, some extra range on the missiles is more useful. For the record, I farmed all the gold and AM, aside from a $10 purchase to get a head start around at level 6. The torpedo and level 23 missile turret are the only legendaries I have ever been lucky enough to forge.
So what is your forge strategy, folks? (21/Ion Wolf) I no longer bother much with forging materials, as it seems a waste of gold. I save everything green and above for a chance at a color upgrade with the forge. I'm saving all my pink and legendary items until level 23 before I upgrade them. I also have an aspect black material that I don't know what to use on. I buy blue or purple stuff from the shop when I can to upgrade. Am I missing anything?
Wow! If you've got a bunch like that from the store then I'm not so sure if I want to bother forging any more.
I pretty much sell most dropped items, with the exception of rare or higher items that i use. For me that means fighters, bombers, long range turrets and the two hard mods on my screenshot. Any time the shop has a rare or epic item that i might use, i buy it to forge later. This doesn't happen that often though... maybe 1-2 times a week that something juicy shows up. Any forging is done with only same rarity collected items. I did get a legendary turret one time from the basic random turret recipe. If i don't have enough of something to forge, I'll use the basic materials just so the forge slots don't go to waste. Yes, its a minor gold sink, but I have little to spend gold on anyway. 90% of the time, the forged results is not very useable and i just sell it. Ce lavie
Here's my setup. I don't know how to create such nice looking single photos like knotty does. I also have Veronica Novadash as my crew member but with the speed of the Tunguska her perk is completely not needed.
