I posted earlier in this thread about this very question. I went that route, to the Sapphire then I upgraded to the Ion Wolf later on. I love both ships because of their weapon/tech/hangar layout. You'll have a slight blind spot right behind the Sapphire but it's not a game breaker. You'll also appreciate the Ion Wolf that much more once you upgrade to it from the Sapphire. If you're leaning towards the Sapphire because of how its designed, I personally had a lot of fun with it, and I abandoned my Roswell once I bought it. I also didn't waste antimatter on the T47 or any of the saucers afterward. T47 a lot of people like here, but personally I don't enjoy having to stick to one side of my ship to attack. Also here's my latest gameplay video showcasing some fighter pilot tactics using the Ion Wolf Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel
Thanks for all the input guys. FYI, I refuse to use IAPs, so everything I earn will be through gameplay. Luckily, the game is pretty generous compared to most others My plan is this: Buy the Sapphire Buy another forge slot Buy a Spear of Polaris Combine my X24, Spear, and SC-9 Orca See what ship I get Save up for an Ion Wolf
I normally hate iaps too, but I did purchase the one time only black market deal. I got a ship, 130 purple things, 2400k in gold and a couple rare or better turrets for the princely sum of .99 cents. Not bad at all, I'm glad I'd read on here it was truly a one time only deal or I might have passed it up. I figure the devs deserve my money as this is very well done compared to ones like boom beach which I refuse to spend money on. I wish there was a more complete crafting guide out there, otherwise I'm loving this, which is amazing for a FTP game.
Fair enough, if I had seen that deal, I probably would have hopped on it too, haha. I do respect Backflip greatly, because while they are using mainstream F2P tactics, in this and Dwarven Den especially, the games themselves are highly original and enjoyable. Plundernauts especially. On top of that, the F2P mechanics are slightly toned down compared to other F2P games. Antimatter being easily obtainable, being able to buy more forge slots, and your engines recharging while you play are all prime examples. I'm also digging what they're doing with the Arcane crystal event. That's really cool.
Nicely done! Got Ion Wolf at 14, upgraded at 15 and now almost 17 and still 3d4hr left on upgrade timer.... Sigh
Thanks for the tip! That'll save me some dough. How long of a timer? Also, what happens if I upgrade my ship with an overhaul not before it is max level?
Ok I will throw my knowledge their also Forge tabs are essential, more important than ships in my opinion Shields is the only viable option as a tech module, or maybe the most worthy The t47 is definetly a great first ship to buy You can farm crates level even if there is no one to kill you by closing the app in the switcher(planet kori is a prime example as it gives out antimatter also, found in the bat galaxy the bottom right planet) Don't pick all crates And the timer on market is messed up it starts the 30min from when you open the app, that means you have to open the game every 30 min once to have the timer start I am still level 8 btw A quick question however, is there anyway to ensure that u get a special or is it really random, does the "any material" change the result
Was wondering why there is no love for the "Spear of Polaris", so I decided to create some explanation for my preference (more for validating it to myself really ). Based solely on the balance of HP and Speed, it falls next to Ion Wolf (see attached screenshot). I have been using it since lvl 3 until now (lvl 19). It has served me well and have been playing around with some other starships. Currently, I have the Scimitar but I miss my bombers and fighters. That Ion Wolf is quite inviting now that I have this table. P.S. I know that it's not just about HP's and Speed's, but I guess unconsciously my mind has been doing the math.
Hey everyone, long time lurker and first time poster for the thread and I just wanna thank everyone for their insightful contributions! Having a little dilemma with the next ship purchase; Ion Wolf or Widow. Currently level 14 with 1.1k AM and rocking a T47 loaded with uncommon beams and rare squads. Now the widow's speed, 2 additional tech mod slots, lower price and the occasional 3 turret load-out is tempting me from the ion, but I'm still considering the additional crew, higher hp and more importantly the 3 squad slots, as I've got quite a number of epic squads ready to be thrown into the forge for possible legendaries. Also have quite a number of beams so I'd be working towards legendary beams soon. It makes me wonder what multiplayer's gonna be like though. If it's AI controlled, some tech mods won't be that important as one could just flee and wait for the right time to re-engage. Hence making the widow's advantage less significant. Decisions... Decisions.... Any thoughts, guys? Edit: think I might settle for the ion after seeing the gameplay videos. Damn, what a beast
I have starter ship and the first one you buy for free. Level 9 I believe. I have 1700ish anti matter. What ship would you recommend? Or is it worth saving until I have 2500? To buy one of the gold ships?
You know what, I've got the Ion Wolf and really like it, 2 x 360 turrets are really good. That's not my point though, from what I can tell from this thread is all of the ships are actually pretty good once you get a good load out and relevant tactics to use, people have their favourites but just pick one you like.
This is exactly where I'm at now. I'm up to the two bosses in the 3rd sector but my ship is too weak(level 7) to advance. Upgrading to my level (11) will effectively double my ships HP. What did you use while you upgraded your T47? I may have prematurely spent all of my antimatter on a 3rd forge slot so no antimatter for new ship, so I tried upgrading my x-24 in the mean time and it''s going to take over 2 days...grr! You can actually buy a 4th forge slot and it costs 1,500 if anyone was wondering.
Has it been confirmed that upgrading more frequently decreases the upgrade timer? What ship are you using Boobi?
Well slap me silly and call me suzy! From Warhawk to Papertoss! Just kidding, papertoss was the first mobile game I ever played on my phone. If anyone knows how to do multiplayer it's Lightbox Interactive! Thing is they are down to an 8 man team so less available resources compared to their days with Sony. At first I was convinced that we were going to see bot vs bot battles and a leaderboard but now there is a glimmer of hope that it might actually be real time? Also an exert from a great interview with the devs: http://venturebeat.com/2014/06/17/former-twisted-metal-and-warhawk-developers-first-ios-game-hits-this-thursday/ In seeing a console team go to work on this, we saw a concept and level of quality that we hadnt seen in the mobile market yet, Backflip founder Julian Farrior told us. We think the big win is in investing in your ship and going out to fight together. Fight together? Could that be implying fighting against a big boss? Against eachother? Multiple opponents? 2v2 or even 4v4 type battles? Could lead to a lot of strategy if that's he case. Just think you can have a DPS class like a Tunguska or a Uratuba and a tanking class like an Omega or one of the carriers! Either way been really impressed with the game so far.
