open forge - hit the starships button to the right, select a diff ship you arent upgrading and drag the ship you want to upgrade into a forge slot. other ingredients are big spare parts and starship plans. if you select a ship and hit the info button at the bottom you can buy the other two parts if you dont have them already.
I have never seen anything but the standard base-level ships in the store. To get a higher rarity, you need to upgrade through the forge.
I skimmed through some of the forum pages. Here are my questions... 1. How do you forge a legendary ship? Do you have to get 3 ships to be all epic? Will the result be a totally different ship that's not in the store? 2. What's the best method/strategy of getting legendary weapons? Is it worth spending 300k+ money at a high level by sacrificing 3 epic items including the forge price for the chance of a legendary, because I've wasted more than a million trying to get legendary turrets...
You have a chance to make a legendary ship each time you upgrade in the forge or forge three ships together. Upgrading in the forge will update the ship to your level, and possibly increase the rarity (it will always be the same or better). I went straight from a common to legendary on one ship, then rare to legendary on another. The only sure way to get a legendary is through forging three legendaries, otherwise it's all luck in the forge -- throwing three epics in does not guarantee you a legendary, but it has the best chance of producing one. If you forge three ships together, the result will be a random choice of the models offered in the store, with a rarity that is an average of the three or better.
If you're talking about the gold level ships in the store, I'm level 22 and right now it shows their max level at 35 (all the others currently show a max level of 30).
Hmmm. I don't know when to buy the ion wolf then, as I want it as my end game ship. I'm on the third galaxy. How many are there past this one? I'm currently lvl 13.
2600 Antimatter, blow it all on Ion Wolf, or buy a Widow and forge slots and maybe a good crew member?
I used danantium in the 3rd slot. The recipe calls for any material in the 3rd slot and that just happened to be what I used.
So I just started playing this last night and am loving it so far, I've made it to a massive level 4 lol, but still enjoying it a lot. I just forged three fighters, two common and one rare and got a legendary fighter back so I'm stoked about my first legendary. Hoping I can finish the shard quest in time, is getting the shards just flat out random or is there a strategy in finding these? Got a lot of learning as I played my first round at like 10pm last night but I'll get there and figure this out eventually!
Forging a ship does not use any material in the third slot. The formula is Ship + Big Spare Parts + Starship Plans.... no room for variation on that one.
There are currently 4 galaxies open, but there are place holders for three more opening in the future, so I don't think level 23/end of Scimitar galaxy is really the end of game, just a choke point before more is released.
Thats a ship level upgrade. Starship upgrade (hp and chance ar increased rarity) : Ship to be upgraded, Big Spare part, Starship plans New random ship : Ship + Ship + any ingredient Starship max level upgrade : Ship + Overhaul bot + Big spare parts
Hmm... That doesn't work on mine, it's Ship + Ship + Ship = new random ship... There are no recipes that I've seen that use a random material slot when upgrading or making a ship (unless you're talking about fighters/bombers).
Whmsicle is absolutely right. I used a danantium to forge my beam turret not in my ship upgrade. Got my recipes mixed up. Sorry about the confusion. I'm not looking forward to being out of commission on my next ship upgrade. Thanks to Boobi for reminding me. I am going to be forging my two starter ships together. Hopefully I get something good but as long as I keep my weapons up to date I should be ok.
