Im trying to update my Ipod touch to version 4.0 it's a 3rd gen. I left it running and 6 hours later it's still the same and the green bar on the PC is still at the bottom. I turned of my computer and Ipod and tried it again but it's still stuck there.

Does anyone know how to fix this ??

    Thanks in advance !

Manually put your iPod into DFU mode. To do this simply hold down the power and home button for 10 seconds then let go of the power button and keep holding the home button for another 25-30 seconds after this iTunes will see that your iPod is in Recovery Mode and must be restored, then try the process again.

Keep your iPod connected to your computer the first time, if this does not work then put your iPod into DFU mode again but have it disconnected from your computer.

    Registeel is an ass :)

Hope this helps! and good luck!

If it does, you can keep all your files and game saves by backing up your iPod Touch first, which would be a good idea to do anyways just in case the update to iOS 4 is screwy. To do this, go into iTunes and right click on the icon for your iPod. Select "Back Up" on the drop-down list, and it should start to back up all the files on your device.

Yes, because you are doing a fresh restore of the Firmware, you're not updating the firmware. Sorry, but if you want a functional iPod you're going to have to make the sacrifice, and it's not like you cannot re-sync all the content (i.e music, videos, apps, ect.) back on. Just make sure that if you want to jailbreak that you setup as a new iPod rather than restoring from the previous backup.
