I'm saying, what are you going to do about it? If there's already a few hundred reviews stating the same thing on iTunes, what do you think a few more people on a forum are going to add to the cause? Nothing? Why don't you just keep waiting. Like I said, this isn't their priority. If they said they'd update it, they will. It took them how many months again to release those map packs after they announced it for MC2, their most popular game? Four months? Five months? They'll get to it eventually.
I think the hostility towards the OP is because usually in this kind of situation the ban is totally justified. It just seems childish to run to another forum crying and raging because they made you shut up and stop breaking the rules.
Yep you're right they already have my money - and you know what that gives me every right to complain especially if the thing doesn't work. How is that unreasonable? Simply stating that Gameloft doesn't need to care isn't going to placate me in the slightest and neither is getting on your high horse and telling me to grow up. I rarely complain about things expecially regarding games. I just felt the need to do so this time as guess what - I want to play the game that I purchased nearly two months ago... By the way, I do apologize for ressurecting this particular thread. I did a search and this was at the top. Once I realized I posted in the wrong board I conducted another search and found a more relevant thread in the board I wanted.
The length of this thread adds a level of dignity to the original post that it most certainly does not deserve. The guy whined and left. No one ever seriously considered any sort of boycott. Why is this still being discussed?
Blah forget gangster they should fix the minor freezes on Dj Mix Tour it's a great little game in my opinion apart from that I hate missing a beat and ruining my score because of it. Out of the 30 Gameloft games I have (just counted) that's the only one I wish they patched a bug on or even added DLC tracks to.
Expressing a concern is reasonable. Whining and moaning on numerous forums isn't. There's a difference, you see. I understand the irritation, but at some point you need to do yourself the favour and cut your losses. Gameloft is a mass publisher and it's not really unknown that updates and patches come slowly, if they come. If you buy one of their games shortly after release, or later on without reading the reviews and the forum posts, you take the risk of ending up with a dud. Like with pretty much every app out there. The same applies to console or PC games, expect that it's not a few dollars at stack, but forty or fifty bucks. I mean, sure, if you enjoy getting aggravated over the same game repeatedly and somehow like being angry that you wasted five dollars for weeks and months, keep on feeling that way. It just doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me, because in the end it doesn't change anything whatsoever. People don't listen to those they perceive as whiners. And Gameloft? They are a large company and probably realise you can't make everyone happy and that trying to is futile. There is also probably a reason why the update hasn't come yet, and that reason is unlikely to be that they don't care.
Mivo - extremely well said. I think you laid out the argument perfectly and this is where it really should be left. Too bad the OP doesn't seem to be here to read it. I think gameloft has a lot on their plate with the release and maintenance of Order & Chaos as well as two games for the Unreal engine in development. The truth is that they have scarce resources to dedicate to their games and they must put those resources where it will be most likely to please their audience. Anyone can understand the frustrations of not having a purchased game work properly but as Mivo said, "you take the risk of ending up with a dud" and sometimes you have to cut your losses. I hardly see a mass boycott of the company to be an appropriate response - especially if it is the love of the game that made you this frustrated to begin with. Support the devs and they will hopefully surprise you with a gaming experience more rewarding than gangstar in the future.
I think claiming that Gameloft have scarce resources is perhaps stretching it? We're talking about what is perhaps the most successful iOS developer/publisher... I think there's a lot of unnecessary whining in regards to iOS games, especially as you can get a refund from Apple with a little bit of effort. If a developer is selling an app that simply doesn't work the developer obviously have to fix this, or at least make it clear that it doesn't work with certain devices...
Seriously though, I'm also waiting for an update for Gangstar: Miami Vindication and it's been a long, long time... The game is crashing since... what? iOS 4? Like he said, that IS unacceptable for a company this big. Although, they've put up a note on the app description that an update will soon arrive to fix the crashing issues.
Actually, everyone everywhere works with scares resources, because they are not unlimited. It is a common economic term. Gameloft cannot possibly do everything that everyone wants it to do. A recent article on pocketgamer addressed this very issue. According to the head of communications Anne-Laure Descleves, "Gameloft's staff comprises 4,000 people, among which 80 per cent are in production... Serving a market of 1,200 phones and 180 carriers with 300 games is rather complex, and sometimes requires some modifications." Gameloft has to pick and choose what it updates, develops, drops... exactly because it is so large and has such a massive catalog of games.
When you really think about it, losing $3-$5 for a broken game isn't the end of the world. Considering what most games cost on any other system the loss is really minimal, also, if you just "report the problem" to iTunes they usually get back to you within a few days and offer you a refund. The fix is alot easier than it seems.
4,000 staff is HUGE. Bigger than a good number of console developers with AAA games out there (Rockstar Games employ under 1000 people). I don't buy this excuse at all. They've got a crapload of money and more staff than most developers could ever dream of, the very least they can do is support the games they create. It's as simple as that. Right now it seems as though the criticism is true. They're far more concerned about pushing out new games in an attempt to grab the consumers money than they are about keeping customers happy.
Sorry, this is frankly bollocks. Yes, I get that even huge companies have to be financial responsible and can't spend their money everywhere. That a company making roughly $10 Million in profits have "scarce resources" excusing the fact(?) that they have an app not working is ridiculous. Selling a non-functional app is bad for the customer and in the long run bad for Gameloft. Selling an app that over-promises is one thing, selling a product that doesn't work is borderline fraud. That being said, I don't haven't had any bad experiences with Gameloft myself and this isn't really my battle. So, I'll just but out...
They already said they were going to fix it. What the hell is this argument even about? It's only been like two months since. It usually takes a lot longer for Gameloft to update something, especially an older game that works for the majority of their customers.
