@Microbyte: Thanks for the tips on the racing games! I will have to pick up Split second myself, I need some more racers for the Vita!
Pretty cool Skype is meant to drop some time in the next 24 hours and it actually looks quite useful (in the fact it can be running while you play games).
(Rant Mode Still On) Even iOS has workarounds for that such as iPhone Explorer, you don't even have to jailbreak the device. It's a hassle but works fine. Vita on the other hand... maybe Sony found out that the best anti-piracy measure is to sell its consoles to nobody. Funny is, the X360 is (maybe second only to the PS2) the most pirated console in the world and, despite being technically inferior and with far worse exclusives, is consistently kicking PS3's ass.
You can backup Vita game saves- but it requires you to copy the entire game over. For whatever reason, the game data is tied to the saves. If you copy the game over to your computer, you can delete it from your Vita and still have all your data. When you feel like playing the game again, you'll have your saves when you put the game back on your Vita (has to be the copied version off you computer though, not a fresh download). Not quite as bad as iOS game saves, but similar. Note: you don't want to select the back up option. That will back up your entire memory card. You just want to copy the individual game/app.
Woh woh woh there, how can you possibly saying that xbox has worst exclusives? We have Halo, Fable, Crackdown, Fez(for now), Gears of War, (I don't really know if this one counts) I made a game with zombies in it!! and a lot more. Just compare the wikipedia lists and You'll know what I'm talking about. But I want to get off this topic because this is the vita thread. Sooo anyways, It looks like there will be no vita playing for me tonight. I have to type a 4 page paper thats now appearently due tomorrow even though my teacher's out sick. So while you guys having fun I'll be playing this new fun game called typing a paper. For those who hate day one DLC It came with the free procrastination map pack. It adds an extra 5 hours of gameplay but isn't as fun as it sounds.
Save backups work fine I've already switched memory cards once and lost nothing, it takes me maybe about 5 minutes to backup everything. Also cloud saves are going to be in some games as well like warriors lair (ruin) which will probably be the first Diablo style game on the Vita that isn't rubbish.
I'm going to Target and though I'd share the deal so everyone knows (if you don't follow CAG). If you go to their Target Mobile (a little kiosk with cellular phones in Electronics), you can trade in any two games and get a coupon for $20 off any game priced $29.99 or more. Uncharted 3 is on sale for $30 (that's what I'm getting).
The only X360 exclusives I'd like in PS3 are Mass Effect 1 and the Gears of War series, and even then I can play them in a PC, but I didn't, because my brother has a 360 and I play it occasionally. Shadow Complex is great, too. Halo, Alan Wake, Fable, that bike game I don't remember the name, they're nothing special to me. Haven't played Fez, though, looks great. But the point is, despite our personal preferrences most people agree that the PS3 exclusives are much better, just check both lists and compare. I'd definitely like to know too, how to do and how good it works.
I believe it's that Wololo thing that he mentioned a few pages back. Unfortunately, I believe that all the PSP games with the exploit have been removed from the PS Store.
Yeah, I originally looked in to the homebrew avenue when I first got my vita and the exploits were still available. Unfortunately it put me in a predicament I've never had to deal with as a non-sony user for so long: needing to connect to PSN on a "current" firmware. For some reason Ridge Racer hits up PSN a lot when you check your team's global standings, and unless you're current, it just won't connect at all... Definitely not a fan of putting up gates to prevent access to your game data, but I guess sony wants to play tough and make users decide whats more important to them, homebrew/emulators, or access to obscure facets of PSN. Sigh
Yeah, I mentioned it a while ago. It's called the Half Byte Loader or HBL. It doesn't change or modify anything on your system, unlike a jailbreak or custom firmware. It just takes advantage of vulnerabilities in games and allows homebrew software to run. Motorstorm: Artic Edge and Everyone's Tennis were the first games used for the VHBL, but only worked on firmware 1.61 or lower, and have since been patched. Super Collapse 3 is the latest game, and it works on the latest firmware (1.67). It has already been pulled from PSN though. So you'll either have to have the game downloaded already, or wait until they find another game with exploits. It should be noted that they release the name of the game privately to community members a week before they publicly release it- so that people can get it before Sony pulls it down.
According to a post on reddit, a PS1 game is showing up on the EU Vita PSN Store. It's most likely a glitch but interesting regardless.
@Fireball and LucianOrb, pretty much this. Summed up exactly what I would've said to you guys. If you have Super Collapse 3 already, just google Wololo for help on getting homebrew on your Vita, if you need any help let me know
I never even noticed that, until you pointed it out I was thinking yuck no background. Still think it's looks plain even now though.
I had a little time to kill this morning after finding a ps3 script for downloading youtube and dailymotion mp4 files. With a little retooling they work just fine on the Vita Have at the link below on your vita, I've put some instructions up on how to install the bookmarklet and save the video to your Vita. I'll post a video how-to a little later. http://dezign999.com/vita
That is awesome! Thanks. Hopefully Sony adds HTML video support soon. Really annoys me that they gimped the browser like they did (it has HTML5, but lacks the bits required for audio and video support).
