Looks like I'm going Mortal Kombat for my first fighting game just read this concerning SF x Tekken

I still want Street Fighter but not sure if I'm willing to wait that long with Mortal Kombat and MvC 3 tempting me still 18 extra characters might be worth the wait but I would like to see a full roster.

edit: Jumped the gun it actually seems to be April release according to this so maybe I'll wait a month isn't as bad as I thought.

Lack of software leads to lack of consumer interest and confidence in the platform. This wasn't based on devs bemoaning working on a platform where their software could be pirated, because in all honesty, piracy has been available on every platform no matter the game format, disk, cart, cd or digital.

To say the PSP flatlined due to piracy or that homebrew lead to piracy and thusly killed the platform because devs were weary is a big stretch. If that were the case, the iOS platform would have died out long ago for the same reasons, yet it hasn't.

My point was that the PSP was doomed from the start, the price of admission for devs was outrageous, and creating a game with a console quality budget but only a portable price point was the nail in the coffin. Today Devs recycle their assets, which cuts costs and makes these lower price points attainable. Whether they are sustainable is another can of worms, and that will probably lead to more digital distribution in the long run.

IN OTHER NEWS... Boy does that Ridge Racer demo suck... I was so excited to see it last night, and once downloaded I knew I was in for a disappointment when the word "Demonstration" was blasted on my screen. 29.99 isn't much for the game, but all the addons look to bring the price up to a console game. Personally I don't mind that the game is a la carte, if you will, but I hope the best bits aren't intentionally left out for the purpose of milking more out of the consumer.

So did anyone pick up Ridge Racer last night? I ended up getting the DD version since I love just having the game with me.

Something of a surprise is that on top of the extra cars/tracks, there were some extra sound and music packs that could be downloaded with the gold pass. In addition (not sure if this was a mistake), there were 13 additional music packs with about 4 songs each that were free to download! 52 extra songs for free?!? I looked in my media section and I have 62 song tracks that can be played! I'm betting those were put up by mistake.

Took forever to download the patch, and everything else. The game itself is really fun even though the DLC model sucks. I'm a long time RR fan and the racing still feels great as ever.

Just wanted to pass this along for anyone interested...

I read somewhere else that the demo only shows the starting trailer and doesn't actually let you play anything seems like a really lame move when they could just have used a video trailer for the same thing.

I've bought Ridge Racer on nearly every system I own but I'm skipping the Vita version because of the way it was done I'm just not going to buy partial games I've had enough of that on IOS. It's quite sad actually because the PSP version had more cars and tracks than I could count.

Not a fan of Ridge Racer but my brother finally picked up a Vita last night with Ninja Gaiden Sigma, and that game is hardcore.... I think that's the first time I've played the Playststion version or whatever (I know they make seperate version on Xbox and Playststion).

I guess we'll be buying digitally to account for 2 systems which means I need more memory.. :( But on the bright side we can split the cost of games anyway.

Maybe I'm missing something, I didn't even see a trailer, it just opened up to a car you can manipulate with the touch screen and change its colors with the back touch panel. Pressing one of the buttons changes the background environment, and thats about all the demo does. :(

I'm with you on owning RR on every system, including the iOS. Apparently something has been modified with the drifting system, and I'm intrigued as to what. I actually picked up the PSP version (again) when I got my Vita, and I still haven't unwrapped Uncharted and popped it in, been busy with RR, lol. I reckon I'll pick up the Vita version later this evening, I'm really crossing my fingers they've redone the original track again, which imho is still the best track in the RR universe, forward/reverse/extended.

That makes sense, I was wondering why the demo files size was so small. Maybe they thought if they gave a demo, they would essentially be giving a good chunck of the main game for free

Well.... whatever killed the PSP is done, but I'm so happy with the Vita. The future looks promising with it's lineup of games, I have a feeling this will be much more of a success.

Taking the plunge, going to DL RR. Gotta hand it to Sony, I really like this digital distribution...

    Edit... WTF?!?!?

I can't buy the game, clicking the Confirm button to buy it gives me this:

I think that might be warning sign, someone somewhere is trying to tell you not to do it!

I havent heard many people talking about touch my Katamari in this thread (or just totally missed them), is anyone able to offer up some impressions? I've never played a Katamari game before and I liked the demo. The thing stopping me though is that alot of the review sites are saying the game is pretty short.

This is some bullshit. Trying to get Sony support on the line is a joke, there is no number on their automated menu to talk to anyone about my account info.

I've updated all my CC info the vita and no dice. There is no way to update your CC info online via a web browser.

Its service like this that reminds me I'm still dealing with Sony despite how excited I am about the Vita.

Gave it a go, its telling me to 'try again later' every time I try to make a purchase, lol.

Spoke with Sony via email, they gave me a number to call. After speaking with a rep, they asked me to try a different CC, and that gives me the same problematic error. lol

Sony can't help me give them my money. Think I'm done.

    Don't do it, man.

5 tracks, 8 cars, no single-player career mode, $25, a 3.0 score from IGN, the worst rated game on the Vita thus far. Even Asphalt Injection is more highly regarded. The "demo" that was just released isn't even a demo. It's just game game footage. It's not even playable. The DLC for this game will, in the end, cost over $30. The PSP version can be purchased officially for the Vita on PSN for $14.99. And it includes 24 tracks, 54 cars, and a full career mode.

Ridge Racer for the Vita is a complete sham.

Yeah, that Ridge Racer "interactive demo" is probably doing more harm than good. I was thinking about buying it in spite of all the terrible press it's getting, but not even being able to do, say, a lap is a pretty bad sign.

And speaking of Asphalt Injection, I actually want it now...I'd somehow missed it on iOS, then I played it on my Android phone and I really liked it. I think I'll pick it up, but not until there's a price drop.

I haven't played much of it, but what I have played is pretty enjoyable. It's a fairly standard (which is to say, insane) Katamari game, with the added benefit of having two thumbsticks instead of one/none. If you like Katamari, you'll like this one.

On an unrelated note, I picked up Shinobido 2, and I'm pretty underwhelmed by the combat. It looks fantastic, and the characters move really nicely, but when you go to attack anyone it seems like you're really restricted in how much you can move. Has anyone else noticed this? Does it get better after the training sessions?

I don't trust any of these online firms with my cc info anyway I'm intending to do the same as I did with itunes and just use the top up cards. But until at least 32gb memory cards are available in the UK though I'm just sticking to physical copies although I do find the PSP games and minis a little tempting.

If Sony can go a year or two without being hacked then I'll maybe reconsider.

Kind of hoping that Journey will be available for the Vita because I am very lazy to even touch the PS3 :p

I don't have a PS3, so I really hope that it is released on the Vita, as well as some other Sony-only titles like Shadow of the Colossus.

Only bad thing about the IOS version is the touchscreen, It's one of the few IOS games I actually bought DLC for.
