Bought Mass Effect 3-amazing but cannot use with Remote Play Really dont understand Remote Play-why use it? You cant do much with it if no games are supported??
I'm torn on what lauch title to get. I played through rayman origins demo and loved it but i've been eyeing hots shots. The only thing about Rayman is that I also plan on picking up mutant blob and think those two are fairly similar and I want a little varitey for now. What game keeps you guys coming back for more/ whats your go to game ?
Rayman is the best game I've played on the Vita so far, but I'm also enjoying Ninja Gaiden Sigma (barring some minor control issues). I'm sure folks are picking up Uncharted and salivating over the graphics. Unfortunately the production values are hiding the fact that it's a repetitive, ridiculously linear bore, with one of the worst stories (though nicely delivered) of any action/adventure game I've ever played. Truly an embarrassment to the Uncharted franchise. Can't wait to sell that turd back to GameStop.
I'm sorry you aren't enjoying Golden Abyss, Im really enjoying the game. I probably won't replay right away, but it's a gorgeous and enjoyable adventure that I'll play again, I'm sure. I really think NGS+ is highly polished, but I've barely touched the game. Uncharted has taken my gaming concentration. After, I'll play though either Rayman Orgins or Ninja Gaiden Sigma +. I feel the Vita is restoring my old gaming habits. Where iOS games are buy play once or twice, cycle through and play others (multitasking/ADD), Vita is installing my old habit of completing a game, before getting into another. It helps that I'm buying most Vita games, retail VS DD. after Uncharted, NGS+, Rayman and Virtua Tennis 4 are complete I'll move through SSD, Mutant Blobs and MotorStorm RC. I picked up Ultimate Ghosts and Goblins, Mega Man x, Lego Batman and God of War: Ghost of Sparta for PSP off of PSN. Awaiting Unit 13 and Ridge Racer, too. This should hold me over until Gravity Rush in June. 3DS-wise, I've beaten the games that feel "console-esque", as they instill the Vita feeling of completion...that system has gotten a lot of my love and still will. Basically, I love and adore PS Vita + 3DS. They've given me the joyful feeling I've been missing with iOS + console. I don't much like being tethered to the TV + couch, nor do I enjoy inferior quality iOS games, fighting with touchscreen mechanics. A great year for portables: Resident Evil Revelations is the best since 2, Mario 3D Land improves upon Mario 3 and brought back the childlike smile I haven't had since I was 9 in 1990. Vita wows me with its playful OS, dropping my jaw with its graphical fidelity and precise control mechanisms. 3D + dual sticks = I want Crescent Moon to move over from iOS and make Ravensword 2 a PSN gem.
Golden Abyss impressed me for about 20 minutes. Once I realized that I would be repeating the exact same "gameplay" over and over again for 9 hours, it kind of lost it's shine. Shadowgun has more enemy variety than Golden Abyss; Modern Combat has better set-pieces and much, much more exciting action. The only challenge in the platforming is finding that first handhold, which is conveniently marked in yellow. Ranged combat is basically a shooting gallery; melee combat is one-button affair with the same canned animations and repetitive screenswipes. There are precisely two boss encounters in the entire game, and they take place one after the other and both are made up of boring sequences of quicktime swipes. And don't get me started on the non-puzzle puzzles. As far as the story is concerned, it's sub-SciFi Channel dreck, with a villain who almost literally twirls his mustache, a girl whose grandfather was a great archeologist (big stretch there from Raiders of the Lost Ark) and a partner whose behavior throughout the game is incomprehensible. Had the game sold for $10-20 I would say it's a piffle and enjoyed it for the nice visuals (which, BTW, don't seem so impressive once you realize that the game has basically three locations). But Uncharted: Golden Abyss is supposed to be the AAA game on the platform, sold at a essentially home-console price. Compared to something like Prince of Persia, or Batman: Arkham Aylum, or any of the console Uncharted games (or Ninja Giden: Sigma for that matter) the game is pathetic. It requires no skills, no thinking, and it provides nary an exciting, original, or emotionally gripping moment. What exactly is there to like? (Alright, I'll give you Sully.) Crescent Moon on PSN? I doubt it.
^ stopped reading when you mentioned Shadowgun. C'mon, I like that game but it just isn't fun anymore to wrestle with controls, you know.. Do they have a deal with Apple or something? Or is there some type of code of honor they have to adhere to so they can't support non-iOS? I think iOS gaming is drying up anyway, it might be smart to make the move sooner than later.
I don't know I'm really enjoying uncharted although I have never played an uncharted game before so I'm really not comparing the plotlines just enjoying the game experience, I'm actually loving all four of my vita games and theres still two out I kinda want and this is just the first few weeks. My collection so far is Fifa , Wipeout, Everybodys Golf and Uncharted. The two I still kinda want are MVC 3 and Unit 13 although they will definitely have to wait for now. Future titles I'm looking forward to are Resistance Burning Skies, Call of Duty, Metal Gear solid, Disgaea 3 Amazing titles for such a new handheld imho
I'm quite sure Crescent moon can't support the Vita right now because Unity isn't on it (yet, hopefully).
Interesting, I wasn't aware of that. Word is Big "G" is already developing for Vita in favor of iOS. Problem with them is they have already suffered through what I call devaluation, through years of catering to a 2$ marketplace. They need to make an impressive showing with a new IP to, not only redeem themselves (after the disgrace of overpricing ports of DH and Asphalt), but wipe clean any remnants of devaluation. Speculations point to a possible Battlefield rip-off, or squad-based FPS. Could be interesting.
Just finished Uncharted: Golden Abyss. I think I spent at least 10 hours on that game... great game with somewhat of an interesting story. Will be replaying it after I play through Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Super Stardust, and maybe Motorstorm RC (I can't stand the controls). Still considering Wipeout and Unit 13. Trying to spend my money wisely as I am planning to buy Tintin 3D this Tuesday :/
I've messed about with router settings, changing channels and dropping 'b', my router does't seem to support N. Though it seems people are having issues regardless of wifi protocol. Hopefully things will become clear soon. Sure m8, I've not managed to try it yet, too busy being absolutely blown away by Fifa... not to mention trying to play ME3 and SF x Tekken.... I have TOTALLY geeked out this weekend! ^^Yup, totally ridiculous, one was actually an official unboxing / startup impressions piece... but you knew it was gonna be biased from the moment he whinged about the device not being visible when youlift the lid, like 'his iphone' was He asks "are Sony ashamed of their device? Hiding away in a foam bag..." What an absolute d**k***d! When I was a kid, everything came in a foam bag - keep it 90s Bit more on Fifa..... I just find it incredible how close the Vita version is to the PS3/Xbox versions.... I had Fifa 12 on my iPad but only played it once... presentation is good, and it seemed like a decent game of football to be had, but certainly never felt one bit like 'proper FIFA' which the Vita delivers superbly! The online games I had with a mate last night, party chat enabled, were every bit as fun as our PS3 Fifa battles! Also, it seems elements of Fifa 12s tactical defending do exist.... you can jockey with the left trigger and apply pressure with 'defender 1 (x)' and defender 2 (square). I disabled the touchscreen controls though (might turn on front at soem point) but I don't se a way to hold the device comfortably whilst also using the back to shoot. Anyway, Fifa gets a 9/10 for me.
DAMN YOU MASS EFFECT Ever since I decided to start up ME2 a couple of days ago, my Vita hasn't seen the light of day... poor thing's been sitting in my laptop bag.
Go get ME3 you know you want too lol Okay thought id write up my game opinions First up i Uncharted, funny how ranged peoples opinions of this game are, must admit this was first game i turned on and played it for a few hours, even went back to replay some levels to find the treasures, gameplay i really enjoy, but sad to say havent touched it since then But only because of all the other games lol next i have Rayman, loved the Xbox version and always wanted it to come out on IOS which i knew would never happen so when it was announced for Vita i got it straight away at launch, and must say its best platformer ever! The graphics and vibrant colours look awesome on the OLED screen! Its basically the same as the console version apart from the multiplayer but no biggy as the Vita version has race levels where you try to run through the level against a 'ghost' version of you. So anyone contemplating this game-just go buy it! Hehe Also got 2 other games on Launch-Fifa Football which wont really go into as all thats been said in this thread is positive and true, its so addictive and pnce you get into the online play you wont put it down! Must have for all Footy fans! And the other game was Marvel vs Capcom, this game also looks great on the Vita but is soooo crazy-not for ppl who arent into fighting games thats for sure, its like button mashing mad for me and still get my ass whooped lol but the fact i can play as Marvel characters is great hehe. The touch screen controlsare great for newbies, just aim and time the taps and youll be pulling off huge combos no problem at all Motorstorm RC is simply the best small game ive got, trumps Reckless Racing for IOS by far, the whole scoreboard feature against your PSN friends certainly keeps me coming back to top everyones score lol, the controls are weird at first but once you get the hang of them its fun so persist! Escape Plan i got because the Trailers and gameplay videos i saw made it look sooo good and good use of the Vita controls. It is fun but also frustrating lol, some puzzles are hard and in order to get 3stars on each level it requires a low number of touches to pass the level, but if you catch the screen accidently it means youll have to restart the level and touching the backscreen is hard to tap the correct place to move an object on screen, but once you get the hang of it i guess ppl may enjoy it Also other day bought Super Stardust but havent played it much so wont put impressions of that-but looking at scoreboards most of you here have it already Bought Unit 13 other day-after playing the Demo numerous times i as really looking forward to it and it doesnt dissapoint! Its brilliant, must say it has a steep learning curve, you cant run and gun every level-only the timed levels are best for that, some levels require stealth and you can get through the level without anyone seeing you-if your good I loved Socom games on PSP and this is kinda similar in which its third person and a nice shooter-its a good stop gap until Metal Gear Solid in Summer! Ok finally the games im looking forward to have to be Mortal Kombat due May and maybe Silent Hill in a few weeks, hope theres a demo out for it in time Sorry hope didnt bore you too much
Wasn't talking about the controls, I was talking about enemy variety. For what it's worth, I find the Vita's sticks too loose for aiming -- I had to turn the sensitivity way down for it to get somewhat comfortable. But I'm a PC gamer at heart, so console shooting has never been precise enough for me. I actually prefer to aim on a touchscreen. It's kind of ridiculous in U:GA that you fight a different army and end up facing pretty much the same thugs slightly re-skinned. Through the entire linear-as-ruler campaign you get no new abilities, no new moves, no change in any of the challenges. The console Uncharted titles are basically the same, but they compensate with rich stories, great characters, and amazing set pieces -- not to mention compelling multiplayer experiences on 2 and 3. None of these make an apperance in Golden Abyss. And I cannot state it strongly enough: the final boss fights are utter tacked-on crap. I guess you could say that we shouldn't expect as much from the handheld version of Uncharted, but the fact is that this is a $50 game. Even compared to older PSP titles, the Vita Uncharted is pathetic. Ninja Gaiden is so much better, it's not even funny. The reason you won't see CS in PSN is that unless you have major publisher support most indie releases there sell very poorly. (I guess you could say the same for the App Store, but there the wealth is spread out a bit more widely, and CS is, for all intents and purposes, a major publisher on iOS). @Der-Kline: Gameloft has been releasing games on PSN for years. They make the bulk of their profits from iOS and Android, so I don't expect them to "favor" Vita any time soon, especially considering the paltry size of the install base.
Anyone else finding the battery life is improving the more you use it. I'd been playing uncharted for at least 5 hours and then I watched a film on it. I got the battery low warning quite early in the film but thought I'd see how far I could get and much to my surprise I watched the whole movie.
@ Squarezero Same here, I turned the analog sensitivity to nearly max for Uncharted. The joysticks are perfectly fine though, IMHO.
