No battery issues after accessing PS Store again two days ago. Wi-fi off all the time, 3-4 hours of playing Montezuma 4, two windows (Montezuma 4 + Trophies) suspended in standby mode most of the time.
I have enjoyed a little catch up with the EU sales over the last few weeks. Final Fantasy 3, 5 and 6 along with Three Fourths Home. Never thought I would like these interactive novel type games but found TFH really good (short but good - completed in about 40 minutes and obtained 4 trophies). Loved Danganronpa, Steinsgate and Virtues Reward too. Really enjoying the games on the Vita at the moment.
I restarted Crimson Gem Saga from the very beginning, though I'm cheating since I got a save state off the internet with the main character leveled up to MAX and all the items full stock in the game. No shame, it's making the replay much more enjoyable. Still going through Broken Age as well, really interesting game. I'm not the biggest fan of point and click adventures, but it's fun enough.
Has anyone played FF IX on the Vita? Just curious how it looks. It just came out for iOS but I can't get it since there is NO way I can free up 8 freaking gig lol. Oh well, I just got Persona Goolden 4 and even though I thought I had grown tired of JRPG's I'm digging it massively. I played for over three hours last night. Couldn't put it down! I am absolutely loving it! I went on a bit of a buying spree and got Persona, Uncharted, Metal Gear Solid HD Collection and Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus. All physical. I'm broke but once they all get here I'll be happy at least lol. I found some great EBay deals. I'll probably end up getting all the physical games I can. Hopefully I'll be getting a 32 gig memory card for my bday in a couple of weeks and can download all the digital games I've purchased and had to delete plus some I've wanted but haven't had space for.
I think JRPGs just aren't for me. I thought Persona 4 Golden was boring. The dungeons are fun enough, but all that other stuff is tedious and I don't get the appeal of it. I finished the first dungeon and then there was nothing to do but boring stuff and kill time waiting for something to happen to push the story forward. Maybe I finished the first dungeon too fast. I don't know. I got distracted and haven't gone back. At least I got it on sale, so the damage wasn't too bad.
I LOVE JRPGs, some of them (Chrono Trigger, Demon's / Dark Souls, Valkyria Chronicles, Eternal Sonata, Ni No Kuni, ...) are among my all-time favorites but yep, dungeons in P4G were great but all that teenage neverending social links BS bored the crap out of me after a few hours.
I guess they are technically but the Dark/Demon souls games aren't considered JRPGs just FYI. They're ARPGs before they're JRPGs. I agree with you, I love the same games and didn't like anything that wasn't a dungeon in P4.
What do you guys think is the best RPG on Vita? Child of Light, Y's, FF HD remake or something I haven't mentioned? After playing Persona and digging it I'm looking to get back into JRPG's so I'm wondering which you guys like more. I did play FF X on PS2 but never played the other one.
Probably not indicative of the series but tried to play Persona Ultimax and couldn't get into it, so much talking (or rather writing), just went on and on.
Sure, Demon's / Dark are more ''westerny'', Valkyria is a SRPG despite looking like a TPS and so on. I was using JRPG in the more wide definition as in any RPG made in Japan, not in the genre-like definition (that is, RPGs with usually turn-based multiple characters battles, random encounters, huge content post ending, grinding galore, bizarre dialogue / humor, etc) where games like Eternal Sonata / Ni No Kuni / most Final Fantasy titles fit. Child of Light for me. Beautiful graphics, the most underrated soundtrack of all time, good gameplay, even the (very) silly story is part of the charm.
I have FF IX for the Vita - have only played a few hours. It is not bad looking. Mostly like a small version of the PS2, or PS1 or whatever FFIX was... has jaggies and is not wide screen, but otherwise is fine. The big thing with the iOS version for me is the ability to turn off random battles. That was always a weak point when you are specifically just trying to get somewhere and the whole ways there, battle, battle, battle, and it doesn't matter if you are doing 1 hit KO, you are still going to battle every 5 - 10 steps that you take... I think I am going to free up the space even though it will be painful so I don't have to battle, battle, battle (unless I want to..)
Thanks for the feedback. I added up my space and even deleting every game other than Crashlands, with only a 16 gig iPad Air I still won't have the 8 gig. I'm short by around 1 lousy gig but the rest is stuff I can't get rid of. It saddens me. I had played FF VII but haven't played IX.
On a 16 Gb, not worth the 8 Gb. I never get the lower storage anymore. Over the past 6 years I have learned that the $100 for the medium tier averaged over 2 -3 year ( which is when I get a new device is $20-30 / year, and not worth it. So I got the 64 Gb ipad air 2. 8 Gb is still insane, but do-able. Not really feasible with a 16 unless you are my wife (who loads almost nothing onto her devices). The Vita version is faithful to the original and a good port. The iOS version is sort of "enhanced" that will let you have a bit more control over what you are forced to do vs what you want to do. I am having a blast with Chaos Rings 3 if you want a massive RPG for ios.
Can you hook up your iPad to your computer, then download from there? You should only need 4 GBs then.
I cant remember where I read it, but it indicated the game neede 8 GB on the device, regardless of the smaller install size.
Don't have a computer at the moment only mobile devices. I'll probably have a laptop soon though. Oh well, I have a ton of Vita games to get through for now.
Has anyone tried Breath of Fire 3? That's high on my list for vita atm. I've thoroughly enjoyed BoF4 - but still need to finish it.
I completed it back on the psone many years ago. I love these RPGs but rarely finish one but this was one that hooked me in. Very much like Final Fantasy.
