I'm not sure about PSO 2 or its similarities to the Dreamcast version but I have played Phantasy Star Nova.

    Impressions/Review HERE

Basicaly, If you do get Nova, you will need a guide. bumped.org has a really good one.

Nova is actually the one I had seen! I didn't even realize there were two different games. Thanks for the help guys.

If I'm a PS Plus member can I really save my progress in any game to the cloud? It looks like I can upload my save game but I just want to be sure. I just saw this feature lol. It will be very helpful until I can get a larger memory card.

Yep, you can do it manually by default or select it to auto upload.

Standby battery life since last firmware update

Has anyone else noticed shocking battery life in standby mode since the last firmware update?

I haven't noticed but not played as much over the last couple of weeks. Will check it out. I hope it hasn't ruined the battery life!!

Store access seems to be another problem, could have maybe been the culprit as it keeps trying but never times out. I've turned wifi off in standby which I'm not a fan of but will see if it makes a difference.

Found this - info on problem

So at least not hardware which is a relief.

    Yep.

I was playing Blazblue CS Extend and was going to wrap it up for the night. Used standby mode, woke up hours later, light was solid blue, which I thought was weird. 2 minutes later, it never blinked to turn off like it usually does.

I turned the Vita on and battery was somewhere between 60% and 80%. I put it on standby again, came home from work and battery was completely gone.

I rarely use the Vita store so can't comment on that.

Looks like I'll be turning the Vita completely off from now on. Don't wanna waste my valuable battery life. I'm using the 1000 Vita by the way.

I haven't had any issues, but have noticed a lot of people having issues with the store and their battery on other forums. I feel kinda lucky, I wonder why it's not affecting me.

I have no battery problems but can't access PS Store at all since the update. It seems that restarting the Vita solves the battery drain problem, as I did that maybe that's the reason.

Now that's a first, a useless as usual FW update that breaks the most important source of revenue of a console. Congrats, Sony, your Vita guys outdone themselves again LOL

Yah there's been news sites covering the update, there's something really wrong.

After seeing a quarter of my battery gone after an hour at stand by mode without any app on the background and multiple errors while browsing PSN I think it's justified to go into full Drama Alert Mode with Sony and their lack of care for the Vita and awful QA department that allowed an update that makes the Vita's battery even shorter

Funnily, since the update my store has been a lot better. Before the update I would have to restart regularly and re-click all the time to access the store - very frustrating. Since the update, I have been able to access pain free most of the time.

It's weird how some people are getting problems and some aren't, makes you wonder how consistent the hardware revisions are.

I *think* I did sort my battery life out in standby temporarily until they fix it, I noticed I was getting messages from PSN in my list even while the device wasn't being used (so and so joined a party, X came online and so on). So turned off wifi while in standby and things seem fine, pain because it doesn't do all the save uploading, trophy synching, download games/patches but I don't think it was signing out of PSN like it normally would. At least that's the theroy...

I haven't looked at my Vitas too closely but they did drain completely which I've never had happen before. Hasn't really happened since it happened once but it was strange.

At least a few hours (about 3) has produced 0 battery drain. Still at 100%.

Perhaps it all depends on which Vita version you have. As with all types of device, different updates are better with different versions of the hardware.
