It's a rogue like, so you start over each time and each run is procedurally generated. However there are characters you unlock permanently, and each character has unique traits and starting ability and a unique upgrade they can get during the game (upgrades are select from a randomly selected group of 4 upgrades each time - up get a choice of upgrade each time you level up during the run). Aside from the main game it also has both Daily and Weekly challenges. The Daily ones are one-shot, and you can choose your character. The Weekly ones you can try as many times as you want (on the same level), and everybody gets the same character. The levels for those are procedurally generated, but everybody gets the same level in the challenges. So they cover both bases there.
Awesome! Thanks for letting me know. Definitely getting this one. Just got Binding of Isaac and love that one! Edit: Is there a good website for Vita releases/sales?
I just grabbed freedom wars with ps plus and I am loving it so far, and it's got me back into Vita gaming. Any good releases I missed in the last year?
I haven't gotten to 3-3 yet, but apparently there is some pretty severe lag in the Vita version of Nuclear Throne once you kill the boss in that level. I've made it to 3-2 a bunch of times but haven't quite managed 3-3 yet. Apparently the PS4 version doesn't have this problem. There are some other bugs in the PS4 version (the Daily Challenge leaderboard errored out for me on there, for one - works on Vita). They are asking for bug reports and have made note of some already. Hopefully all this can be fixed quickly.
Lost Dimensions looks nice and it's on sale so I'd say give it a shot, and also Bastion, despite what I said previously, I've been loving it so far.
Thanks for all the info on the game. I really like it. My only complaint is that there are borders on the screen and I wish it was full screen but aside from that it's really great. Between this and Binding of Isaac I'm pretty darn happy. I'm also getting Dragon's Crown in the mail tomorrow. Btw, should I play Hotline Miami before playing the sequel or does it matter?
The story in the first game is more coherent IMHO. I don't think it matters that much from a story standpoint, but the main reason probably to play the first one first is that I think the second one is harder (and the first one is not at all easy), so it probably makes more sense to play the first one first and work your way up to the 2nd. They are both great games.
Downwell on the Vita! https://twitter.com/devolverdigital/status/675330895235055617 I assume since it says this is "Tate Mode", that holding the Vita this way is just an option. It does kind of remind me of KLAX on the old Atari Lynx if anybody remembers that.
Awesome. Thanks! I'll pick up the first one now. And I do remember the Lynx and the Jaguar! Never had either. I had a friend who bought the Jaguar. I got a 3DO instead. I came really close to buying a Lynx but never quite did. They looked really cool though. I remember this fighter jet game for it that looked awesome.
Hey guys, if anyone is looking for a good price on Mortal Kombat Amazon has it new for $9.96! I just ordered it. I mean the price on PSN is double that!
Hitman GO is coming to PSV with few changes so I would expect the series to continue on for the platform if it does well. Not related but while I'm here, the Chronicle games for Assassin's Creed are due April, that's the already released (on consoles) China plus soon to be released Russia and India.
I can vouch for the fact that in Nuclear Throne on Vita when you kill Big Dog (2nd boss), the game grinds to a halt with horrendous slowdown, while he (and I think other things) explode. If you can survive that slowdown then it's fine again. Hopefully they address this in the coming update.
Nuclear Throne is much better on ps4 than vita due to the controller, but I'm happy it's on vita too. Really like the game.
With so many indie games on sale on PSN for this Holiday Sale that they are having each week - I would ask that people familiar with a good / great game deal to please sing out. I look at these things and have never heard of them and don't know if they are any good.
If talking about Vita specifically, Xeodrifter is great, but you may have gotten it from Plus already. I'm considering Metal Slug 3 for $3.75 and Curses & Chaos and Shutshimi for $4.99 each, but I can't comment on them. Some friends of mine liked Shutshimi, though. On PS4, if you like 2d shooters, Jamestown+ is not something you should miss and the price in the sale is crazy good. Such a fantastic game!
I can vouch for Xeodrifter, Metal Slug 3 and Shutshimi, all of them pretty good games for the current price.
Thanks! Any idea why it's bigger than the PS4 version? It's around 700 mg. Not that much free space left on my card. Since it's on sale I was going to pick it up but I'd have to delete too many games. Bummer. EDIT: Between Shovel Knight and Steamworld Dig which would you guys recommend?
