Thanks for all the feedback guys. I'll hopefully be getting one in time for Christmas. Sounds as if it's worth it just for indie titles alone although some if the AAA stuff still looks really great at least on YouTube.

One Indie game I would love to see on the Vita is Downwell. That game is frustrating on a touchscreen. With physical controls it would be sweet.

What are some games, both indie and non indie that you guys would recommend as must haves? I am especially fond of Metroidvania style games. I I'll be getting Borderlands and eventually Killzone.

One more person to say that if you can - save your $$ and get the 64 Gb. It is much less expensive in the long run than buying the smaller cards and then needing to get several cards, or playing a game, deleting it, rinse and repeat. If you just get physical copies not a big problem, but if you are getting digital content - the games are just huge...

At first I'm probably gonna have to get a smaller card. I'm planning on getting the Borderlands 2 bundle so that comes with an 8g card but I'm sure the game will take a good portion of that. So I'll have to see what I can afford at first just to have space to get some games. After that I'll definitely try and get the 64g if I can. May have to settle for a 32g though.
I'm seeing a TON of indie titles that look absolutely amazing. I love my iPad Air but I think the Vita will probably become my main platform.
Btw how large is the display?

The 32 Gb run generally about 50 -60 dollars (usually closer to 60) and the 64 Gb runs about $80. The 8 Gb sells for about 20 - 25, so when you can afford the 32 - sell the 8 and take the money you get and buy the 64...

Screen size is about the same as a Nintendo 3DSXL, or about the same as an iPhone 6+. I am not sure of the exact screen dimensions though.

If you like metroid-ish games, I definitely recommend Xeodrifter. I had a lot of fun with that. And if you have a PS4 too (and are in to trophies) it has separate trophy lists and is cross-buy. I did 100% on both. Though it isn't the longest game out there, so you might want to wait for a sale.

I'll check that one out. I've got a long list of games I want lol. I just ordered my Vita today and should have it by Thursday so I'm pretty freaking happy! I can't believe the amount of amazing indie titles! I'm looking at Axiom Verge, The Binding of Isaac and Dragon Fin Soup. Axiom looks like freaking Metroid, Binding is a game I've heard a ton of positive things about and Soup just looks good.
So if anyone has any other must buys that should take a spot in my top 3-5 let me know in the next few days.
BTW, my Vita includes Borderlands 2 and an 8gig memory card. Anyone know how large Borderlands 2 install size is? Not for all the DLC, just the base game. I'm kinda stuck with that 8gig card for the time being. Probably going to get Dragon Fin Soup and I know it's about 2.5gig.

Hot Shots Golf! I don't even watch Golf but Hot Shots is easily one of my top 5 games I've played on the system. Likable characters, unique courses and nice graphics to boot. Heck, I even boot it up once in a blue moon to relieve my cool shots.

Hotline Miami also plays well on Vita. Played once on PS3 and went straight back to Vita.

I know theres more but consider checking those out.

Borderlands 2 is a 3.3GB download by itself. Can't tell you the exact install size since I bought it physical. But you will be out of at least 3GB and 3.5GB of space. Theres also a patch you'll have to download. Not sure if it installs "within" the 3.3GB or if thats separate space you'll need to account for.

EDIT: If anyone looking for a year of PS Plus, Newegg through Ebay has PS + going for $39.99

I am pretty happy to pay the $40 / year for PS + particularly as i have a PS3, PS4 and Vita tied to an account. Even for one device though, i would say at leadt 8-10 good games through the year are good, so 5-6 dollars for a very good game is alright with me.

So an interesting deal on PS store for the Vita - they have on the PS Plus page (2) games discounted- Run Like Hell and Draw Slasher - both down from $5.50 to $2.49, BUT if you go on the weekly deal page they have the bundle of BOTH the games for $2.... They are both iOS games as well (ported from the Vita apparently) and well rated there - and have good ratings for the Vita as well - for $2 I figured you can't go wrong for 2 games.

If you have and android or iOS, download the PlayStation app. You can go into the store from there and look/buy any games on your PSN. When you browse you can see the file sizes. I use a lot before buying so I know how much space I need.

Thanks for the tip. I'll get it now.

Quick question. Thinking of getting Soul Sacrifice. I'm wanting to get the physical version since I'm short on space. It's around $17 on Amazon. How much different is SS from SS Delta? That version is the same price but digital only.

I played them a lot, even got both platinums, some of my favorite Vita games. Delta is an extended version of the original with some improvements, as you'll have a space problem for some time just get SS, you can even import the save from vanilla later once you get Delta.

Borderlands is ~3 GB WITHOUT the DLC, with it it's 5.2 GB pr something like that, and also, the PS Vita version of Dragon Fin Soup is ~500 MB unlike the PS4 version.

I got PS+ for $40 from that same deal, but several weeks back. PS+ shows up for $40 periodically. I also have PS3/PS4/Vita which makes it an awesome value. I've gotten a lot of good games to play on all 3 platforms.

I just ordered SS. Thanks for the help!

Edit: Just want to thank everyone who gave me feedback and help. Really appreciate it guys! Getting my Vita with Borderlands 2 tomorrow and SS on Monday. I am super psyched! I have a feeling the Vita will pretty quickly replace my iPad Air as my main gaming platform since I don't have a console. iOS games (aside from a few greats) are just not scratching my gaming itch. Maybe next year I'll try for a PS4 if I don't buy too many Vita games lol. Thanks again to everyone.

I know this will sound dumb but here goes. Plugged in my vita and it won't power on. The orange light is lit which I know means it's charging but shouldn't it come on if it's plugged in?

Edit: I just got a flashing battery with a line through it when I held the power button so I'm guessing it's just that the battery is dead. It is new in the box not used.

Edit edit: Held power button for 30 sec and it's on lol.

If you read the manual (LOL) - you have to hold the power button for about 6 seconds to turn it on. I did the same thing, pressed the power button briefly and wondered if my brand new Vita was a lemon. enjoy your new machine.
