I have both Vita models and in my opinion the OLED screen is VASTLY superior than the LCD. Not only the colors and brightness but also the touch responsiveness. Play a heavy touch based game on both screens and you'll understand what I'm talking about, Anubis. I also prefer the grip and overall feel of the old model, it's like a premium device compared to the plasticky new one. That said, the slim is much better in everything else, so if I had to choose one I'd go with it.
I've been playing through Daganronpa AE and I got to a part where there were lots of bright colors. The OLED really made them pop. There were actually so many colors and the OLED made them so bright and saturated that it gave me a headache. I also like the blacks on the system. Build wise I would say the Slim feels more ergonomic. The 1000 feels a bit odd to hold and makes my hands sore after a bit. Neither are too great ergonomic wise in my opinion though. The 1000 does feel a bit more durable, but I guess that may be due to the extra weight and thickness. If I had to choose, I would choose both.
Xeodrifter is great. If you like Metroid-like games, definitely give it a play. Especially for free if you have PS+. I have 3 trophies left to get. One is the speed run. I started out trying to do that legit, but I think in the end I'm going cheat the system. You can set the clock back and replay the last boss and then apparently the trophy will pop.
Cheater. Cheater? Cheater! CHEATER! CHEATERRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!! CHHHHHEEEEEAAAATTTTTTEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'd go for it legit, but everybody is cheating it, so there's no value in being the one person with a real time. LOL.
So you're saying that if I convince everyone to let me weigh their hearts, you'll let me weigh yours? Haha, I'm just kidding. We both know you have no choice in that matter.
Seriously, where is my Nemerleb? Also, where's Der--Kleine? I haven't heard from either in quite some time.
[iDroid voice]V has come to.[/iDroid voice] I don't know why, but there was something incredibly cool about that part of the intro.
That was meant to be PC or console, the way I wrote it didn't leave much choice Yeah I vaguely remember you saying something similar about only playing on PC and not wanting a console, but was hard to tell with the screenshot what platform it was from. Although it is a bit small through the TA app so a little hard to see much. Trying it on desktop is better but still seems sized by post.
Super Meat Boy will be out next month: https://www.playstation.com/en-us/games/super-meat-boy-ps4/ It's going to be a PS+ free title. Also on PS4, but I'm especially looking forward to having this on Vita.
@crunc - So I started playing Xeodrifter and I went to the northern planet. There are essentially no enemies except a boss and I just get my butt kicked. I see the patterns, but those darn energy balls hit me, or while I am dodging them is when the pink amoeba moves and so I never get his life down more than maybe 1/2 and I die.... Is there any place I can grind a little and maybe get a little more life or am I just a failure? I know I don't have reflexes like I used to - I would have considered this boss a joke 10 years ago, but now it is just frustrating - should I go on to another game?
I was always surprised how the artist got borderline emotional over his concepts behind characters, their signification, the world and so on. It is an easy game to dismiss visually, but getting some background on his thought processes makes you see things in a different way and appreciate ideas more. Still way too many pixel games on PS+ at the moment, they need better balance. But I am looking forward to this.
Just 100% it on PS4, will play on Vita again. Loved the game, great little metroidvania. Not sure what boss you're referring to (all of them look the same but attack in increasingly different ways) but what you have to do is learn how to avoid each of its attacks (e.g. when he fills the floor with lava you must shift to the background plane; when he summons minions just destroy them asap; interrrupt the boss healing; destroy the shield with Solar Flare; etc). Two things help a lot: 1) Getting as much health and gun upgrades as you can, every boss you defeat grants you a new power that enables access to new areas you weren't able to reach before; 2) Right choice of weapons, I found out that using the gun upgrades on the second (strong shot) and third (rapid fire) weapons obliterates everything, took me less than a minute to defeat last boss without taking damage for the Snoozefest trophy (not boasting, it was really easy with those two guns maxed out). Just don't give up, this is one of those games that get easier once you acquire some upgrades and get the hang of it.
Who was the Earth Defense Force fan here? I saw on Amazon that they have the second one remastered for Vita available for pre-order.
