I meant Redribbon talking about getting a hands on, after saying he wasn't bothered about IOS games anymore. Soooo anyone got Unit 13 yet? Getting tomoro was wanting to know if the demo game save transfers to the new game??
I really, really want Unit 13, but it's been sold out everywhere I've looked so far. Same with Lego Harry Potter. I may end up just ordering off Amazon if I can't find them by the weekend!
PSN never, ever sells out! (I can understand why people would want to buy it on an SDcard cartrige thingy though) Speaking of PSN, I wish they'd always show how big the thing you're about to download is before you actually start downloading. (It doesen't always say in the description, for example, how big is unit 13?)
Just bought Unit 13 and the Lego Harry Potter at Toy's R Us with the buy I get one half off deal. Also got one of those Assist Grips off eBay that make holding the Vita feel just like a Dualshock controller. I'll post impressions later on the games if anyone is interested...
I wouldn't mind impressions on the grip. Mostly if there's any chance of scratching the Vita when you remove or put on the grip.
Totally! They should say what the size is Ok I officially hate Marvel vs Capcom haha!!! Altho major flaw in game is if you or opponent rage quits the game doesn't count as a win or loss! Lol! What team do people use?? I am doing pretty well with Captain America Iron Man and Wolverine Touch controls only
The grip works great so far. There are four small areas on the sides, like rubber grommets, to hold the Vita in tight. It popped right in easily, and I have removed it a couple times with no problems. I definately checked to make sure there were no scratches, as I too was worried about that, and there are none thankfully. It feels great when playing, pretty much as close to a PS3 controller as you can get.
Can we give me any impressions on the lego harry potter game? My girlfriend played the first one on the ipod touch and she loved it but i'm thinking in getting this new one for the vita but i haven't saw anything about it yet. This of course, if tomorrow everything works well since i'm thinking of getting a vita for me. ^^
Here is the guy I bought from. It's expensive for what it is, but at least shipping is included in the price from Japan. I'm happy with it and he's a great international seller with 100% feedback. So no worries there. Anyway here's the link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-PS-VITA-Assist-Grip-Accessory-Play-Station-F-S-Free-Shipping-/150767615852?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item231a733f6c
Just started playing it a bit and am liking it so far. Seems to follow the movies pretty good, the cut scenes are kinda funny. Graphics are great of course. Lots of gameplay elements like platforming, exploration to get 100% of everything, and of course making and using spells is cool. Only weird thing is I don't see any way of adjusting the camera. Kinda thought the right stick would allow for that, but the game adjusts the camera for you automatically. It works great though so no biggie. Just seemed kinda weird at first. Haven't play a Lego game in awhile, so I don't remember if you controlled the camera on it or not. If you like the movies and Lego this should be an easy purchase...
Damn you! I watched a video of the game and it did look like the 3DS version with better graphics. I always wanted the 3ds version, but never got around to picking it up. Thanks for the impressions...
You can get one of those of gamestop for about $18 http://www.gamestop.com/ps-vita/accessories/ps-vita-trigger-grip/98483
Well, I decided to splurge and order a vita and a 32 gb card off amazon as a birthday present for myself today ($4 for next day shipping is a steal and still a decent amount cheaper than paying for taxes) I'll be sure to add all the fellow TA people once I get it set up. Cant wait!
It does. But stats for tropies do not. So you may need to go back and play the tutorial again and I think there was another.
The Assist Grip adds alot more of the PS3 feel than the Trigger Grip from GameStop. I have that one also and while it works well, it just doesn't fit as good as the Assist Grip does in the palm of your hands. The longer, dualshock like handles extend much further into your hand for a more comfortable fit. My hands were still cramping with the GameStop grip on long play sessions. Not so with the Assist Grip.
Unit 13 is a tactical game that forces you into run and gun situations in which attempting to run and gun will get you killed. This leads inevitably to frustration. Daily challenges are ridiculously hard. Controls feel clumsy and unresponsive when you are getting rushed by the enemy. Just one person's opinion. I don't really like it, personally. That's not even addressing the lack of cutscenes, storytelling, character development, etc. The core gameplay, to me, is flawed. I would have no issues with the game's tactical gameplay mentality, if it wasn't forcing you at various points to rush into situations in which the game has not equipped you to handle. Stopping power of weapons (initially, at least) isn't great. The blast radius of grenades is ridiculous. Pray if one gets tossed anywhere in your vicinity. You have very little health, which doesn't play well if you do get rushed, flanked, etc. And you have to manually pull back your scope. You cannot track or shoot targets up close with your gun zoomed. If it's stuck with your scope zoomed in the wrong situation, you're pretty much screwed. And then there's the stealth sections. The game is better suited for these missions. But stealth combat is a very specific genre with a niche following. Plenty of fans of shooting games do not enjoy being forced into missions that absolutely cannot be beaten without stealth tactics. Developers should not force stealth sections into non-stealth games. If its something that can be defeated using multiple tactics, that is different. But certain missions here are stealth only, and that is not good for general gamers.
Reason I didn't pick up Unit 13 myself is the videos reminded me to much of the Socom games on the PSP. I do like SOCOM but I think the Vita is very capable of proper FPS games and I'm holding out for Resistance and Call of Duty. Really the same reason I didn't go for marvel v capcom 3 I like the game but with SF vs Tekken on the horizon that's the one I want.
