I just thought Bout it, but does anyone know when the enhanced edition of that Japanease game is coming to North America? It's called something like Toudiken. I don't want to buy the normal edition since there is an enhanced one coming.
I'll probably get flamed for this but I'm considering selling my Vita. The console itself I love, it's well built, feels good and looks nice but I'm very very disappointed with the games, every single game I've bought has been a turkey. Sword art online - I paid £32 for digital, barely put 4 hrs into it. Grindfest P4G - got to the third boss, couldn't stand it's anymore Toukiden - bought thinking it's MH clone, it's very poor Sorcery Saga - sounded fun, was terrible FFX HD - very boring and tedious Freedom Wars - thought it was like MH, it's awful I've spent far too much money on games that were just very very poor and I didn't get anything like my money's worth from them. I'm not saying I'll buy a 3DS, I don't plan on that but the vita as much as I like the hardware, the games are horrible Sadly I'm running firmware 3.35 so, I can't even jailbreak it and use it for emulators (that would be worth keeping it for) so I think I'll be trading it in, the next time I'm in town. . Shame really
See, the problem is that you're only buying Japaneese games. If that's everything you've bought, then there are still tons of amazing western games you're missing out on. Where the hell is stuff like Wipeout 2048, Killzone Mercenary, Tearaway, Guacamelee, Super Stardust Delta, Frozen Synapse Prime, etc. on that list?
I'd have to agree, the selection is fairly 'focused' and there are some really good titles like those mentioned above outside of that. Whether they'd be your cup of tea is another thing, but I'd find those some of the finest handheld games I've played.
Rpgs are my favourite genre, I dislike fps games, shooters and fighting games. So I tend to only buy rpg games.
Hmmm how about puzzles platformers for example? - The Swapper: it's sci-fi game where you need to clone yourself and solve puzzles by using your clones. - Knytt UNderground: this game is huuuuge (took me like 60 hours to fully beat). You control a girl accompanied by fairies who use a lot of strong language lol. You have the ability to transform into a ball that can bounce and thus solve environmental puzzles. - Stick It To The Man: it's a whacky and funny story mixed with puzzles where your MC can read people's minds. Hilarious. - Bit Trip Run 2: rythm game but challenging.
You have the right to sell your vita, just like how I had the right to sell that worthless thing people call a "soul". It seems to me that your problem is that you want games to be something their not. Like Freedom Wars, Toukiden, and Soul Sacrifice are all in the same genre as Monster Hunter, but they are their own games. I like all of them for different reasons, but if you want to play Monster Hunter than go play Monster Hunter. Also, just because you have a specific taste in games doesn't mean that all other games are horrible. You need to try to be a little more open minded. If you truly hate all Vita games but like 3DS games, that is okay. You're free to play whatever you want. Even if you do sell your Vita, you're still welcome to drop by this forum whenever you like. I wish you luck in finding a system and games that interest you.
I think you get me wrong, I'm not bashing the vita and promoting the 3ds, I don't even own a 3ds and currently I have no intentions of buying one. As for my vita, I love the hardware it's just the games I've tried.. Ie the ones I've bought have all been a huge let down, I'm not saying ALL vita games are crap, just saying the rpgs I've bought have all been a huge disappointment. I'm not bashing the vita at all, please don't think that.
I can't help with RPGs. Not a favorite genre of mine, though I did really like Paper Mario/Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door and Mother 3 (fan translation). I mostly play Indie games on Vita and there's plenty of good ones of those. Spelunky is my go to game, but some recent additions I like a lot are Race the Sun and The Binding of Isaac.
Oh don't worry, I didn't think you were bashing the vita or promoting another system. The vita has some strange games and I know they're not for everyone. You're free to enjoy whatever games and systems you want. A lot of the times I joke on here and say stuff about vitaless people, but I'm only kidding. If you want to sell your vita, that is your right. If you want to buy a 3DS, a Xbox One, or any other system, go ahead. It's okay to like different systems. I have to admit, after nemerleb said something about a 3DS I researched it and started eyeing them myself. So go do whatever makes you happy, you're welcome here no matter what you decide.
Hard to find RPGs that really catch you up from my perspective. FF X is a classic - have about 100 hours on the PS system, but when it came out re-done for HD graphics for the PS3, I only put about 3 hours into it... somehow it just did not have the same feel as when it first came out. There are lots and lots of good RPGs for the 3 DS system, but they have the same issue - some are an absolute blast (the Mario ones in particular and Zelda) but many of the RPGs that people love I find OK. So many of them now are built around social functions - I could care less about getting all my "friends" (in reality a bunch of people you don't know merely to get good equipment) involved - the DQ series in particular did this. The newer Zelda game was great, but it was very strange to me getting very advanced equipment early in the game to be able to "experiment" with, and in the end made the story for me much less interesting than needing to work my way through the world. Maybe it is just that I have played so many RPGs that I just can't find something with the right formula to make me happy... The 3DS as mentioned has lots and lots, as does the older systems of gameboy advance and gameboy. Luckily I have been collecting for a LONG time and have all the above systems so I can go back and replay favorites from the past... With the way things are being produced, depending on your likes, you may not be able to find a system that really fits the bill. As I note, I don't find any of the systems today particularly good - they all have good games, but I don't see any as a "must buy" as I did in the past. If you are interested in more "old school" RPG type games your best bet is probably going to be the 3 DS, or the DS system that plays the DS and the Gameboy Advance games if you are willing to forgo some of the newer titles out there. Good luck in your search. And if you find any phenomenal RPGs that really excite you, PM me - I likely have it, but in the event I don't, I will probably want to find it. I keep searching for the RPGs that will engross me for 50 - 60 hours like in the old days.
A bit off topic and doesn't really speak for the quality of the game, but Dragons Age Inquisition sounds like it may be fairly in depth with one reviewer citing 70 hours to complete, another 90 hours. Fingers crossed that's actually enjoyable (enjoyment being subjective) time.
Thanks, I will be watching that, although I bought Dragons Age for the PS3 - put about 3 hours into it, and quit.... So, I am already biased against it - but I try and keep an open mind and realize the future is not dictated by the past (hmmm... maybe I should run for a political office with wisdom like that )
I apologize for being totally off topic, but since there was some discussions of RPGs - anyone try The Witch and The Hundred Knight? Reviews are all over the place, and people seem to love it or hate it. Anyone here try it?
The console versions combat was a bit pants, had the same experience but got PC version on a Steam sale and was much more enjoyable. Only ever played the DA2 demo and didn't enjoy it enough to ever buy the game. I think this time they've stopped thinking it potential platform demographics and moved from the stage set pieces to a proper open world. Get it next week so I'll let you know how it goes.
Thank you. This forum and the people here are awesome, I don't want anyone to feel like they must pledge allegiance to the Vita or suffer our wrath. I may harass people for various reasons, but that is just because I enjoy doing so.
Thanks, but I'm sure others would disagree! I think most who read my posts either end up in a padded cell or with dead brain cells. Ask Der-Kleine, though I'm guessing the former happened to him. Anyways, you're pretty awesome and you're usually pretty helpful here. Plus, you put up with my lack of sanity. What more could a master ask for?
Ummm - I don't understand? What is this place? I feel like my brain is in a fog. I don't remember much except some Egyptian god is trying to subvert me to his will? I am resisting as I am able.
