Yeah, Crimsonland Quest Mode is much more fun with Perks. I have no idea why they didn't just have them enabled by default. Weird. Now I will actually enjoy trying to beat the harder difficulty levels (I think). I finished up Normal difficulty and also managed the last perk via the Threes clone after about 10 tries or so. That part of it I hate. I didn't buy Crimsonland to play a Threes clone. I have to do it again on PS4, but I won't mind Quest mode now. The Threes clone, though .
Because most of the quests last for 30 seconds. And now that the perk selection is autotriggered when a level is gained, it'd be just an unnecessary interruption of gameplay (to choose something that'd have only a couple of seconds of doing anything). ... and especially as gaining a level now also grants a pushback and shield. It makes a massive difference in difficulty. Or, rather, it basically takes the challenge out of the tough levels. Which is fine though, as Quests are basically the grinding phase to the endgame, which is Survival. We don't forbid anyone from enjoying the Quests too, though!
Fair enough but problem is without perks is borderline impossible to finish last level with full health for the trophy. Finishing Hardcore / Grim without them would be seriously hard too. I think enabling perks indeed trivializes early levels but also make later ones doable. I'm playing the game on PS4 and Vita and love it, my only qualm is that it relies a bit too much on luck, on Survival and later levels there's no skill in the world that will save you if not being lucky with the weapons and perks given randomly to you. But I'm used to a good ol' grinding so it's (mostly) OK

Did you check Miyamoto's latest truth tea spill on casual/mobile gamers? "“Their attitude is, ‘okay, I am the customer. You are supposed to entertain me.’ It’s kind of a passive attitude they’re taking, and to me it’s kind of a pathetic thing. They do not know how interesting it is if you move one step further and try to challenge yourself [with more advanced games].” He went all in tbh and I'm rejoicing *fangirl boob shake* story:http://www.siliconera.com/2014/08/27/nintendo-interested-making-games-passive-audiences-says-miyamoto/
Are you the developer? Yes, without perks the Quest mode feels like a grind. I am not saying it wasn't fun, but it is certainly no where near as fun as Survival mode, and a big reason for that are the perks, so I'm happy to have learned that you can enable them. Maybe you should have made it possible to get the perks/weapons by playing survival mode (too). That to me would have made a lot more sense, especially because you're playing Quest and unlocking perks that you can't even use. Also I really could have done without the Threes clone required to unlock the last perk. Don't get me wrong, though, I'm really enjoying your game a lot.
Ehhh, I've seen it for the same price in stores and online for the physical version (which is what I prefer). Anyways, glad you found a sale you like.
Yeah, this is the official user account of 10tons Ltd. on TA forums. We definitely admit there's a big heap of design issues in Crimsonland, both the classic from 2003 and the current remastered version. That's actually where a lot the issues stem from; the game originated as a hobbyist project, and eventually evolved into one of the early commercial digital download titles. So the design was never thought out from start to finish, it just grew into place. And, it's super fun! So, with the remastering project, we had a really tough task of trying to preserve the fun, as well as we could, while still ironing out some of the biggest wrinkles. So we made some subtle-ish design changes and additions, but left 99% of the code untouched. We definitely didn't attempt to fix all the big and small issues, as a lot of them are connected to the fun and especially the unique feel of the game. So it's very much a "warts and all" kind of game. And indeed, we set out to remaster the game, not remake it. We probably remade it a bit too much for a remastering project, but we feel it all came together pretty ok. That is not to say we won't ever update the game again to make some small changes. We just might. And who knows, the game might even keep spreading to more platforms!
Well there are two different versions, and it all boils down to your own personal preferences: the slim is more plastic-y so it weighs less and you'll get a firmer grip on it, however it feels really cheap next to the original. The Start/select buttons have been improved and I hate those on my original. Everyone will point out the screen has been downgraded from OLED to LCD, but you won't notice this difference except when comparing the two handhelds side to side. So basically not THAT much of a difference. The real question is what size your memory card will be based on your purchases.
By the way did you catch the latest onslaught of game announcements today in preparation for TGS? -Nidhogg (god it looks so ugly!): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WsFSXvhGBkM - Alone With You (I loved Home so this one might be good): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rMBsmcg5RyA - Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer (card game from iOS so very much blah for me). - Salt And Santuary (@Anubis it's an RPG-platformer -but I don't think it has metroidvania elements - and with god-awful graphics): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n1Yq89OhxfA So glad this generation is all about pushing our devices to the max...
The improved battery alone on the slim makes it the better purchase imo. Soul Sacrifice Delta might be a game you'll like (a bit similar to MH).
Ohhhh..... This one actually looks interesting to me. You seem to always know what I want before I do... Hmmmmm. Well, thanks for the heads up!
Welcome to the vita community! Also, i agree with the soul sacrifice delta recommendation. That game is.... Awesome!
