I'm interested to see it in action. I've head the new Tegra chip improves graphical performance considerably.

Sony doesn't even bother to pretend to care anymore (e.g., announcing the new Tearaway as a PS4+Vita title). Well, at least they're not trying to advertise that Remote Play device nonsense anymore.

Unless you have a capable PC to remote play or hold out on their cloud gaming platform, the hardware means little without the software to back it up. That's my concern.

The real problem right now is that for the Shield Tablet to be useful you have to buy quite a few accessories for it. And they're not exactly cheap. (Smart cover rip-off, controller, memory card... that adds up to over 100€ extra.)

Again it's nice to see this board is a haven from all things whiny and random meltdowns. You didn't disappoint ^^

On another note I kinda wanted Journey on Vita too to see what the fuss is about. Plus wasn't Unfinished Swan outed as a Vita port too a few months back?

And lol at Shahid completely losing it on twitter!! He confirmed Papers Please was coming to Vita, but man has he become THE scapegoat to kill in the community hahaha

Well he doesn't seem to understand that indie games aren't what get people super excited and that you need to at least show something for your system at a major press event.

I'm beyond stoked to have just purchased a Vita. Not sure why others feel differently. Indie games are games too...

...not to forget about the ridiculous backlog of PSP games on PSN..

100% true but can we really dump all our shit on him? It's not like he's the one responsable of completely pulling the plug from the device. I genuinely think he's working hard for it, thinking that maybe ports are better than nothing.

It's not really his fault, but come on, it's like it never occurred to anyone at sony that perhaps Vita owners would like to see some games at these Events. Something to get excited for, something to show off.

Tell me about it...While I don't regret my purchase (have 15 games I'm interested in to be released), I also think indies will never reach a consensus in the gaming community; it'll always be a bad term stimatized by an automatic thought of style/weirdness over gameplay.
Shame really because a lot of the new IPs start out from an "indie process", then get approved by major companies that fund them. So what's the dfference really when it gets down to it. A good game is still a good game. I
guess an approximate comparison is the fashion world: if an unkown someone makes a great suit or dress but it's avant-garde or doesn't follow today's standards, and sells it cheap, people will overlook it. But if a major established designers slaps his name on it, it automatically becomes precious and sought after.
It's the world we live in sadly.

Oh believe me they know all too well what people think. With twitter/social media and all that. companies knoe exactly what people are thinking. And that's why Vita owners are becoming more "violent" in their reactions: it's coz they know Sony head honchos are deliberatly ignoring the pleas.
Now if you want my thoughts on the whole situation: I think it's more to do with Sony gaming section having internal problems, especially seeing how the Japanese and Western sections aren't on sync at all. Compare it with Nintendo where Reggies and Iwata always show up together hand in hand. The decision of the western branch to lose support of a system is no small matter and shows how deep the uneasiness is running rampant in the higher ranks. Things aren't boding well, when you also see Microsoft firing SO many people lately too.

Yeah. I've always thought one of the huge strengths of the iOS platform was the support of indie devs. Indie games are hugely important in todays gaming world. The is because smaller dev teams or individuals need not answer to publishers with their gaming ideas. Risks can be taken - discovering new game play mechanics. This combined with something like Kickstarter along with the affordability of game engines like Unity allow this all to be a reality. I wasn't aware until buying a Vita that the term Indie has a bad reputation. It's amazing to me. We as game hobbyist need to welcome this with open arms.

The problem is that people are obsessed with AAA games. I love them indies, but they tend to be seen as something "inferior", which is a shame.

Sony cares, they just know you all only want indies. Also, they are producing tons of first party games for the vita! You just have to buy a PS4 and use the remote play feature!

Let's not oversimplify things, it's not an indie vs AAA games matter. I love indie games and play tons of them, but they are not system sellers (no Vitas sold = no 3rd party support = no great games for us) and I didn't buy my Vita to be an indie machine. I also bought it to play the new portable God of War / Crisis Core / Monster Hunter / GTA / you name it.
