I bought all those games, problem is Sony is clearly saying instead of porting those games or even create exclusive title, they are going to support Remoteplay or PS Now..

IMO we're all just measuring wrong what an AAA mobile game should be. It's not about being technically as close as possible to their console counterparts, which no doubt is evidently impossible, it should be more than clear right now that - despite what we were told and hoped - the power of the Vita doesn't come even close to a PS3.

It's about translating their gameplay (=fun) to the mobile system, and very very few games have done it right. I usually have way more fun with simple indie games than most of the supposed AAA titles which almost all turned out to be crap.

Borderlands 2, from the footage I've seen so far, looks to be a great example. It shouldn't have been done this way ("identical" to the console version), Vita just can't handle it, compromises like enemies exploding on death, bad frame rates and a very low count of enemies on screen at once simply kill the fun of the game for me, and in this particular case we're talking about one of my all-time favorite FPS games. Hell, I was drooling all over about playing it in my hands and now I don't think I'll even buy it.

Sony focusing on the PS4 Remote Play and PS Now is a colossal mistake, most gamers (including me) won't bother with both, they just want an on the go system that plays good games.

Maybe that's one of the (many) reasons the Vita is being trounced by the 3DS. I have both systems, love and play my Vita a lot more, but it needs to stop trying to be a PS3. It's not and it will never be. It's incredible (and sad) to say that but I think it should learn quite a few things from the PSP.

To be fair, I have the vita version of Borderlands 2 and the enemies exploding on death isn't bad, it's just different. I actually kind of like it. Also from what I've played there isn't a low count of enemies. I've had around 10 enemies shooting and attacking at once and I'm still early in the game. The frame rate however is an issue, it's playable but could be better. I do kind of wish they just made a spin off built from the ground up for vita, I think it would of fared better than porting the ps3 version.

So they probably should have just ported the gun-generating part of the game into a brand new game.

If they made one from the ground up with a decent amount of content and it ran great, I would pay $60. I wouldn't care if like you said they reused the guns, but I would prefer new ones if it was a different game. I bet if they tried building Borderlands 2 from the ground up for the vita it would have fared better, though it wouldn't be practical business wise. The PS3 had issues so porting from that to a lesser device was bound to cause issues. Maybe they will come up with a miracle patch that fixes the game before it officially release. Don't you dare try to crush that dream.

I don't know but I think low enemies count is pretty bad.
Like there is no other than 3 mobs spawn each time. It kinda really sucks. It just makes the whole open world pointless and turns it into ghost town
Not to mention MP barely working

Are you sure it's a low enemy count? I can see maybe 1 or 2 missing but not an extreme amount. I played on bother Xbox and PC and I don't really notice much of a difference. Maybe I'm misunderstanding you but are you saying no more than 3 types of mobs spawn at once, or no more than 3 enemies? I've definitely had around 10 enemies fighting at once.
I haven't tried the multiplayer yet because of the bad frame rate. I figured that if it was that bad solo, it would only get worst online. I feel like some guns cause the game to run at about 20 fps, so if 2 people were firing at the same time... I don't even want to think about it. It is a shame the port doesn't run better. It's playable but kind of a mess.

Hey stupid question... But ai was wondering if this version of Final Fantasy X-2 would work in the US. It looks like it would to me but I wanted to be sure. Thanks.

Killzone Mercenary shows that they can do very nice looking FPSs on the Vita. I don't know if porting Borderlands 2 was a bad idea, or if it is just not that good of a port.

I personally haven't played Killzone, but I bet there are some big difference. The biggest difference is that killzone was designed and built around the vita and the vita only (as far as I know). Borderlands 2 is a port of the ps3 version (which apparently had its own issues) so it wasn't built for the vita. Also I'm guessing killzone doesn't have an open world like Borderlands 2, which will impact performance.

I think the people who ported it tried, but it's too big of a game to port. Hopefully they will continue to patch it and improve it. It may have been better though if they built it from the ground up for the vita, but that wouldn't be a good idea from a business point of view.

Eventually I need to try Killzone though...

Graphics wise Killzone Mercenary pretty much pulls every possible trick it can to get the best looking game possible. If you pay close enough attention you'll notice just how much pop-in the game actually has. Shadows and details will fade in when you get within 10 meters of an object. In some cases massive structures in the distance will not be rendered. (Most noticeable on the MP map "Zenith", some of the walkways that are far off and take up maybe 2% of the screen simply won't exist if you're standing in the right place. Zoom in on them and they suddenly appear out of thin air.)

It's brilliant though, since you really have to pay attention to notice this kind of stuff.

And then of course there's the fact that half of the fancy effects aren't even rendered at native res. The bokeh depth of field effect may look beautiful in motion, but take a screenshot of it and it's an entirely different story:

I just can't believe how much work they put into Killzone Mercenary on Vita and at the same time makes me sad that we will NEVER get any good FPS game like that ever again... Since return of profit wasn't there.. Yup it's sad truth but vita simply can't make profit for devs. So they will just make ports/indies. Or niche titles I have 0 interest in...(tbh I don't understand how someone can have fun ripping off clothes)

Thanks for giving some insight on the tricks they use. I definetly need to try this game sometime. You're probably right though we won't see another game with those level of graphics again. It's a shame, but at least we did get one game.

Yep is a good indication of what's possible with the right team, they really did nail it.

And yeah, while Killzone does have some fairly good sized areas it doesn't have half the load that an open world would create. Sony owned teams tend to share knowledge too, not sure how the BL2 crew got on in that respect. Anyway, it was always going to be a pretty major task to bring it over to handheld and from what I've seen they actually didn't do too bad of a job.

Hmmm.... Does Sony allow you to have multiple copies of the same game on a vita? I got the borderlands 2 bundle and downloaded the game a few days ago. Now that the game officially release, it gives me the option to download it again. I already have the game and all of the dlc installed. I tried clicking on it to see if it would tell me I already had it installed but it didn't.

Also, does anyone know the answer to my final fantasy question I asked earlier? I can copy it again if needed.

By the looks of it the Vita doesn't actually check if a game is already installed if you try to download a game you've installed, so I guess that's normal.

If I remember your question correctly then no, codes from other territories will only work on their respective store, you can't use a japaneese code on the US store for example. (Just like on iTunes)

Ahh okay, thanks for explaining that. It wasn't a code though, it was a cart. If not, that's a shame. I would prefer the Asian version over the American one

Hers is the original question by the way,

As far as I know Final Fantasy X-2 is only available digitally. (Just checked on Google: Yep, only digital.)

Yeah the US version is only digital. In The Asian markets both games were sold separately but came in the cart format. I found a (crappy) photo of the cart if you want proof. The site says that it is in English and no region protection, but I'm not sure. Is it only digital codes that are region locked, or are carts also?
