What kind of games do you enjoy? There are quite a few good games. Persona 4 is great, as is Tearaway, Disgaea, TxK, Walking Dead, many others. Some fun free for PS+ - Thomas Was Alone, Stealth, Pixel Junk Monsters, Uncharted, Gravity Rush, Wipeout 2048. Playstation Plus has to be purchased, and requires wifi. Generally about $50 / year. Advantages - there is an "instant game collection" that has lots of games that are free for PS+ members for as long as you are a member (you have to "purchase" the game - games come and go from the free list), some significant discounts on games that are available (these remain available regardless of your PS+ status if you actually spent money), you get cloud storage for game saves and trophies, demos of complete games that are only time limited, etc. I waited many years, bypassing the PSP, finally getting the Vita and have been very pleased with it. Battery life is really the biggest problem, and maybe some questions on the viability of the platform as it never seems to really catch on like the Nintendo handhelds. If you get PS+ there is a great sale going on now with some great deals for Vita, but there are sales all the time, and new free games every week. Keep an eye out for memory card sales - 16Gb or 32gb. Regular prices are obscene. You will find the 4Gb card you get with the bundle fills up rapidly, and you are constantly deleting stuff off the card. Sorry for the wall of text.
Thanks for the comments on Metal Gear - I think I'm getting the PS3 version, but 21.5 Gb download size -ouch!
No problem, I had a bit of a brain fade and set you crook on the name, it's just PS+. Depends on your region, the US gets more games per month, but for the EU it's 2 PSVita, 2 PS3 and 1 PS4 games which are rotated monthly. Then there's the IGC (instant game collection) which has a number of set titles that don't change, with titles varying between the two regions. And yep they're yours as long as you keep a subscription running. You may be able to find you can test it out for a month free depending on the deals when you sign up. You also get discounts on some paid games with a subscription (which are of course permanent). I'd have a look at the web based playstation store for your region to see what titles are in the IGC and what they have for the month to get an idea.
Sorry for the wall of text? You probably just spent a good bit of time helping me out. There is no need to be sorry, thank you for explaining all of that. I guess I typically like RPGs. Or games with a few RPG elements. My two favorite games are Borderlands and Dark Souls. I used to have a psp and I really enjoyed those Monster Hunter type games. I know vita doesn't have monster hunter but I remember seeing Soul Sacrafice so I probably will get the new version whenever it comes out. The PS+ doesn't sound too bad. If I really enjoy my vita, than I may think about purchasing it. I don't have a PS4 or a PS3 so I wouldn't benefit as much from it. Yeah I heard how ridiculous those memory cards were, at least the bundle comes with an 8gb one until I find a higher capacity. I probably should stay away from digital titles until then. Thanks again for all of the info and suggestions, I really appreciate it!
Thanks for the info! It doesn't sound too bad, I may try it eventually if I really like my vita. I'll probably miss the current sales though because I think the bundle releases on the 6th and I bought It through Amazon. Oh and I live in the U.S. By the way. Thanks again for the help!
Well, i already played the game on Xbox and PC so I know i love the game itself. Have you played it before on another system? If so I'll just let you know how the controls and performance are.
Another note about PS+. Even if you let your subscription lapse, if you renew again later, all the games that were on your account before are then available to you again. You don't lose them if you let it lapse, you just can't play them until you renew.
And as far as I know (I may be wrong on this though) they keep your cloud saves on their servers for 6 months after your subscription runs out.
Yep, on PC and PS3 (it was actually one of the free monthly PS+ games). You'll be able to pick up on any differences which is good.
As a selling point for the game it's a big blow. In reality... I've never played any BL game in co-op and still love it.
Damn I'm dying of that, yeah talking about my BL2 pre-order,it's my first BL game in my life and fantastic Vita already got this game,i guess in the near future peolpe don't need home consoles anyway,Vita will run every title soon. Glad i did not purchase the PS4 or XBOXONE,Viva la Vita
Lol good luck with that. I don't think half assed port helps anyways. What we need is more exclusive AAA title like killzone not 2 years old game with $40 tag I don't see why people praise remote play so much.
Not really, I think 4-player co-op would get too chaotic in the small Vita screen, and I'm certain it couldn't handle it, either. If it's a good port of a fantastic game (like God of War, one the best action games EVER made) I'm OK with that, as long as the good exclusives keep coming. I have a PS3 and a PS4 and I NEVER use remote play, no point for me. I think it's useful for a handful of people who have kids using the TV or whatever.
The only cool thing about remote play to me is that if you're away from home you can access and play your ps4 with nearly no lag. My brothers tried it out a few times, it just takes a minute or 2 for the initial connection.
