Downloading both now for Frrrreeeeeeeeeee! I believe Dead nation is 468 Mb and the Killzone patch is 568, but I may have been behind on a few Killzone patches.
Yeah, you probably are, the last one added two new multiplayer maps (increasing the file size of the game to a total of about 3.9 GB). Ok, technically they're not new, they're from Killzone 2, but still. While waiting for Botzone to come out I replayed one of the later levels from the singleplayer and it's incredible. Every time I replay a part of the game I seem to notice more and more details, both in terms of visuals and what the AI does. Details like one of the ISA soldiers shouting "This one's for my friend!" while throwing a grenade at me are really what make the game so immersive and replayable. They're also things you'll sadly never find in mobile games like Modern Combat. Also watching people burn in that game is always fun.
Dead Nation is 1.8 GB https://store.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/#!/en-us/games/dead-nation-ps-vita/cid=UP9000-PCSA00151_00-DEADNATIONGAME01?smcid=psblog:dead-nation-ps-vita:up9000-pcsa00151_00-deadnationgame01s-blog-2014-04-15-playstation-store-update-339 damn need to buy another memory card
What device is more powerful, iPhone 5s or Vita? I'm talking specifically about CPU/GPU side of things..
Taking a look at the specs of the PlayStation Vita and the iPhone 5s the PlayStation Vita has, at least currently, still the more powerful Hardware till Apple announce the new iDevices later this Year which is kinda crazy since the PlayStation Vita was released in 2011.
For those interested in seeing what Botzone's like: Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel In short: Definitely worth /$2,49.
And here's some gameplay of the first game in the Sly Trilogy: Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel The game runs great (it's not another Jak & Daxter), my only problem is that the sound quality is awful. I'm assuming it was like that in the original PS2 game as well?
Botzone for Killzone is good fun, definitely increases the longevity of Mercenary tenfold. Wasn't crazy about the change in charging as it is still obviously part of the promised patch, but for the price and work involved I wouldn't quibble. Gave Dead Nation a quick go, ports well.
When they announced it they did explicitly say that the new maps would be free but didn't say anything about the price of Botzone, so I wouldn't say it was comepletely unexpected that they charged for it. Also for anyone who hasn't figured it out yet (I only just did), it turns out that to switch team to the Helghast side in botzone you just have to drag your name tag to the other side in the lobby.
They have always stated it would be a part of the third (fourth?) major content patch in their release road maps, all patches being free. It was never mentioned as being DLC or external (which it isn't really, it's still part of the patch). Do I mind? Not really no, but I must say that the word of Sony (and first party developers) has been a bit dodgy of late, especially EU.
From the post about all of the updates for Killzone Mercenary on the EU PlayStation Blog (posted on the 26th of November):
I wasn't aware of that post as I started to take notice around January as that's when I bought my Vita and I'm fairly sure I've never seen pricing being mentioned, that being the case I fully understand why you wouldn't be surprised.
Not many games showing up for Vita on the flash sale, but I just got When Vikings Attack and Retro City Rampage for .99 each.
