Playstation Vita Discussion Thread

Discussion in 'Off-Topic Lounge' started by Haruhi, Dec 12, 2011.

  1. Having spent so much time on Dynasty Warriors Next and BlazBlue, both of which run at Vita's native 960x544 resolution, I've been finding Wipeout 2048 and its sub-native 720x402 resolution graphics not too great anymore. That's not to say the game itself isn't enjoyable; in fact, it's still one of my favorite racing games I've played in a while despite all of its faults.

Based on what I've seen, Rayman Origins, Virtua Tennis 4, and FIFA (haven't played much of this though) definitely seem to be the games to get if you're looking to show off your new handheld powerhouse.

I'm thinking of picking up a bundle with Fifa here (maybe today if I get time) as I don't see to many choices where I am for getting a wipeout bundle so I'll probably end up buying that separate.

My only dillema is I can really only justify one more game and with uncharted, everybodys golf and marvel vs capcom I'm having a hard job picking.

I'll probably end up with them all in time but for now I think 3 will have to do for a month or two.

edit : Just back now I got a vita wifi with a 4gb card free and fifa , also bought everybodys golf and wipeout as well. Annoyingly I can't see it yet as I'm only back and trying to set it up with it's updates and such. Really hope I don't regret the insane money I just spent I'm sure I won't but impressions later hopefully.

I don't think you'll regrest it, just wait until you get into an intense race on Wipeout or get sucked into "just one more hole" on Hot Shots Golf, it's so great!

    Congrats! :)

    ?

Can you play all or most of the PSP titles on the vita? Also all the mini's and stuff like that are downloadable to right? So besides all the launch titles you have a crap load from PSP and mini's also? One more question, can you start playing any ps3 game and then start playing it on the vita? How does that work?

You can play a bunch of PSP games (but can't download all of them on the vita, only like 200 or so PSP games are available on the PSN store) and the minis are there too. This transferring progress thingy only works with some games from what I know, and since I don't have a PS3 I don't really care.

I have been hammering Fifa today I love it!! The rear pad shooting is excellent, I gave up with it to begin with as kept accidentally touching the rear pad just holding the Vita but with a bit of persistence I got there and it's a great change-far better than IOS Fifa

Definitely the next game you should get should be Marvel vs Capcom of Uncharted both are great, and for 5quid Motorstorm is superb for quick fix gameplay :)
Enjoy and glad we turned another IOS gamer to the dark (better) side lol

    Thanks

So far no regrets and I've been playing about with it the whole day, all three of the games seem really good, I've sorted the online passes and got the free card based games and the screen really is beautiful.

I can't wait to see what the future holds if these are launch titles.

Would love a match of FIFA where someone doesn't quit 5 minutes after the match starts because I score the first goal. Honestly out of 8 online matches so far only one was I able to finish to the end... :(

I wish there was some type of penalty system for those quitters...

If they quit in the first 5in game mins there is no penalty but after that if they quit they get a loss and you a win - always been the same with all Fifas
Thing that annoys me is the laaaaaaag in a few games-it should match you with decent latency players :)

Does anyone know if you can play the PSone Classics on the Vita much like you could with the PSP?

Either way, really love the Vita. Game wise I have Uncharted, Ninja Gaiden and Rayman. Really can't wait for Resistance to come out. Oh, and my PSN is: Jovi4ever

Right now, the Vita doesn't support PSOne games. It seems kind of weird to me (it's obviously not a technical issue, since the PSP could do it), and I don't think they ever explained why...

My guess is they probably spent the bulk of their time before release making sure the compatible PSP games were functioning properly and needed extra time to finish up the Playstation emulation. According to the Playstation Europe twitter feed PS One support is coming "soon".

Just got the Mutant Blobs PSN game for my Vita and really like it; However, I can't manage a gold ribbon for the second level. Got Gold on all the other ones in the College area though. Anyone else have this game and manage gold on level 2?

My guess is that PS1 games are compatible, but they want customers buying the Vita games, and PSP games first, hopefully an update will come soon!

I've already finished Unchartered, and really wanting to play some classics on there!

I'm very impressed with mine the more I play with it the more amazing it seems I don't think my ipod will see another new game and I'm thinking of giving my brother my old PSP and it's games. I haven't done any multiplayer on it as yet but I have been playing with everything else.

Today so far I've spent a few hours playing the career mode on Fifa and for an experiment I copied over a few nature documentary shows on the great barrier reef I'd encoded for my iPod with Air Video (renamed the extension m4v to mp4 only) and they look stunning on the OLED screen, pictures really don't do it any justice at all the colours are just so vivid, sharp and bright.

Won't be buying anything new for it this month but I think the next thing I do will be to import a 32gb card.
