To be fair, he seemed happier with his PSP anyways. I told him Vita had a decent library and cost wasn't bad but ultimately he was surprised that other memory cards couldn't be used. And it doesn't help that the only ones that can be used are overpriced for what you get.

I'm still using the same 8GB memory card I got from preordering my vita (The preorder bonuses on amazon technically lowered the price of the Vita itself from 250 euros to 200!), so I really don't see why memory card prices are THAT big of a deal. Yes, they're overpriced, but they're not a reason why I wouldn't buy the console. Once they're paid for they're paid for. You don't have to pay a monthly fee to use a memory card. And hey, people seem to be totally fine with apple charging 100$ for 32GB of storage...

Other cards as in, like, SD cards right? Because you can definitely swap memory cards.

Well, based on my experience there, I think it can be a deal breaker (though as I mentioned, he was pretty happy with his PSP but saw my Vita and asked some questions). Now if you can find deals like yourself, than everything is moot. Hell, if you have to, use the money saved to get the appropriate storage you might need to soak up the price. However if you're just buying the Vita itself at retail, then you'll have to look into a MC, unless you plan to play only games that don't utilize the MC at all. Then you have to factor in things like going digital V.S. physical, downloaded PSP games you own but may want to transfer, possible music player, PS+ etc.

As for Apple doing an extra $100 for 32gb, I don't think customers have an issue because someone may be able to put a ton of music/apps on their iPod/iphone and that may be worth the $100 bump for some. Most people buy the Vita for gaming on the go. Put enough games on it, and MC will be full in a hurry.

If someone goes all physical, I can see how MC isn't much of an problem. However, if you have say, PS+, then that may turn into a whole another issue. (the current Japanese games sale in the U.S. is pretty good, for example). Again, if you're not going to bother with anything Digital, then MC prices wont impact you too much because chances are, you're buying the lowest card available.

In the end though, Vitas aren't gonna fly off shelves with only a card drop, but I would imagine sales would be a bit better off now if they were either bundled in ALL Vitas (8gb Minimal, just annihilate the 4gb imo and sell 8gb at 4gb price) or lowered in price separately.

@ Tygamr, I was referring to SONY having proprietary memory cards for Vita. Can't use another 3rd party brand currently afaik.

Sorry for the long post, I just think the Memory Cards are holding the system back.

And they're discounted for PS+ members! Divekick and Kickbeat will both be $7.99 the first weeks they are out, and Spelunky and Dragon Fantasy Book II will both be $11.99 for their first weeks. Sony is actively trying to murder my wallet.

Anyone know how the hacking of the vanguards work? I just can't seem to do it. I wish they would remove them... I want a fps not a puzzle game lol

I was in a match with you earlier (rthorning)! So basically, all you do with the hacking puzzles, is select the shapes that make the shape in the middle. It's fairly straightforward once you know what you're doing.

The beta is amazing! Killzone is a definite purchase for me. Game looks way better on the Vita than in any screenshots, trailers, and direct feed footage. It's amazing they managed to pull this off.

So here is my honest thought about vita at Gamecon. They tried. I guess borderlands 2 on to go is cool even tho it should have all the season pass dlc AT least. But I bet it has to be watered down a lot considering it wasn't even smooth on ps3..
And rest of stuffs of pretty garbage, nothing to show up. No AAA title again... Jeez it was disappointing for me.
Sure price drop was nice, but memory card price drop is pathetic. $5 off for 4gb. $10 off for 8, $20 off for 16 and 32 which still is ####ing $80...
Mine craft was probably the biggest news for me. Now only if its same version as console version then I actually go and get a vita again. But for now... Nope
