Ahh wonderful. Knew they'll come through with dem bonuses for DD buyers! Guess I'll actually get it after all. EDIT: To clarify, I did like the game but found zero point in booting it up again after the tutorial missions.
Yep, got my ass handed to me by Cerebus (don't think I leveled up high enough after just doing each of the tutorial missions once) and didn't bother with the other missions. Imma get it anyways since the DD version also have the bonuses. And the fact that I absolutely HATE playing demos, and basing my impressions off them. If it weren't for the save transfer, and the free armor, I would've avoided it no matter how lengthy it was and how I was anticipating the full game. When I saw SS videos, I knew I was gonna get it.
I actually beat him by myself for the first time. All you need to is have a healing, spell that turns you into giant fire ball, golem, ice throwing, normal throwing, and thunder throwing. Just keep hitting his head with it, and once in a while where he stops and trying to shoot thunder or something like that, use the golem and fire ball at him. And you should have 2 npc and sacrifce them both
The Soul Sacrifice reviews don't seem too positive so far, but their scores aren't very surprising either. I doubt any of the reviewers put as much time into the full game as I put just in the demo. Edit: Only 13 of 203 total players who own/earned trophies for Soul Sacrifice have made it to the end of the story mode so far, including Jim Sterling (Destructoid) and Colin Moriarty (IGN). Take that as you will. http://psnprofiles.com/trophy/1926-Soul-Sacrifice/11-Puppet-Holiday Edit 2: Maybe even fewer than that? http://psnprofiles.com/trophy/1926-Soul-Sacrifice/13-Bucking-Fate
The reviewers also weren't able to play the multiplayer at all, which is arguably where the true meat of the game is. Looking at Metacritic, most of the reviews are 80+
Reviewers were able to play MP, although EU servers might have been up later. Also, there were only a handful of reviews when I posted that. The 6 from Edge and 6.5 Polygon lowered the Metascore significantly at the time...
Oh. Some reviewers said they weren't able to play the multiplayer at all, or they just based their multiplayer impressions on the demo. On Neogaf, there was a guy from a site that said they were waiting on reviewing it because the servers for multiplayer didn't seem to be up. I didn't read too many of the reviews- pretty much just IGN, and a few other random ones.
I'll tell you a secret: the problem with the SS reviewers is not their ability or not to play the MP. The problem is SS is a Vita-only game. Had it been a 3DS one it would easily score 9+. 3DS games are usually reviewed as mobile games, while Vita ones as PS3 games. Their mediocre graphics, for instance, are usually forgiven, while Vita games, even being far superior, are always bashed because they're not as good as a PS3. I'm really fed up with this BS. That's the main reason why inferior games IMO such as Monster Hunter and Fire Emblem will have much higher Metascores than Soul Sacrifice.
And it kinda really makes me upset that ign made review video with only demo gameplay... Laziness. Hell, I can make better gameplay video then that
SS has a Metascore of 77 right now while MH3U, a much more well-established series, for 3DS is at 79. That's not bad at all.
And the most surprising Vita release of today has to go to... (Only available in verry few european countries, in my case germany) Edit: Judging by the comments on the store update on the EU playstation blog it's awful, so nevermind.
Play the earlier MGS games before Peace Walker. The controls in Peace Walker are good, while the controls in the earlier games kind of suck (by today's standards).
Not really. Mgs 3 probably had better control than peace walker. I hated that how in peace walker you can't really ADS,
But isn't that just SAD? Before I played Unit 13, I was legitimately wondering if the dual sticks just weren't good enough for developers to make a solid shooting game. After seeing CoD and Burning Skies fail miserably, and then playing Unit 13, I was absolutely baffled. It seems a FPS with at least decent shooting mechanics, decent visuals, and some upgrade paths as well as a variation in modes (ex. Single player, a hoard mode, timed missions, etc) could do incredibly well on the Vita. I don't understand how it is that this has yet to happen.
