No it's too late to turn back. Thanks to cheap people. They won't buy the app until it goes to $1 sale. And this is why literally most of games have bunch of iap in them. To me, most vita games does deserve $40. Trophies, story mode, online. It just have everything that psp was missing. All they need to is put more familiar titles such a grand Trismo, gow, ff, etc. And since its doing quite well in Japan now we will see the price drop on NA my this holiday season.
People won't buy anything with buttons when it comes to those phones and etc now days. You can tell that from blackberry. They been pushing all these physical buttons on their phone. Oh guess what, they been losing money and now they finally decided to use touch screen. This gen will never accepte those buttons And not to mention apple have no interests in gaming market. Also adding those buttons will cost more. So you will end up seeing like what $600 iPod
Real Racing 3 really isn't that bad. Once you've got a few cars (I have 10 of the 46 right now, but I'd say 3 are enough to not get stuck with all your cars being repaired at the same time too often) the timers aren't really a problem anymore. It's pretty much the only iOS game I've invested a lot of time into this year, with the only two things that really annoy me is the lack of tracks (repeating the same things over and over again isn't that much fun) and a lack of songs (hearing the same things over and over again... not good.) It will unfortunately never happen, but what I'd really like to see is a phone (if possible with an iPhone 4 or later like design) with small shoulder buttons, one in each corner. Think about it: They could be designed in a way to be almost invisible, but would help so much in almost every genre of games (or even apps like safari, etc.). Shooters? you could take the shoot and ADS buttons off the screen and easily fire while walking and aiming. Racing games? Brakes and acceleration. The list goes on and on. Two buttons (4 for the sake of symetry) could really make touchscreen controlls so much better.
And like I said, how many people who buy iPhone play those so-called hardcore games? Less than half of them. There is no profits by making those buttons.
One could take buttons off the screen in regular apps, in safari for example the full screen view could still have things like a reload, forward and back button, twitter could get rid of the blue bar at the top with the search and the new tweet button, stuff like that. Basically it'd save screen space. It'd still be designed more for gaming though, so this is probably more like something some android phone maker should do, rather than apple.
Not necessarily true. You compared the button idea Der-Kleine had to Blackberrys. Some people didn't like Blackberrys due to the lack of a touch screen (on the generic models) among other things- but physical buttons? They can be very appealing to people, as evidenced by all the smartphones with slide out keyboards, and keyboard add-on for touchscreen only phones. It likely won't happen though- the farthest I could see Apple go is make a button peripheral. Apple hates buttons (at least, Steve Jobs did). They're more likely to eliminate existing buttons than adding more.
Buttons are never coming back. They might make cases or something like that to put it on, but it's all about touch screens. It makes it ugly anyways. All these companies are going for thin as possible when it comes to smart phone.
The fact that there are very few phones with physical buttons today shows that they are not appealing to modern consumers. I have also yet to see anyone use a keyboard add-on for a touchscreen phone. Back on topic: is anyone excited for Dead or Alive 5+? The upcoming demo seems to have quite a bit of content, but it looks like Team Ninja actually cut out some features from the "Plus" version... http://teamninja-studio.com/doa5/us/comp.html
Where are you getting that from? DoA5+ got rid of fighting game staples such as lobby matches and some of the more interesting features such as Tag Fights (for the most part). I'd take those over the minor Plus additions any day.
I echo a the sentiment about iOS games as well and how people feel about the prices. I see people complaining that the game is $1.99 and just SMH. I haven't really bought anything lately either with the exception of Sonic Dash. Had to get that just because I'm a Sonic fan and it was actually enjoyable.
Sales of the Vita were higher than sales of the 3DS last week in Japan for the first time in a while. Also, Soul Sacrifice essentially topped the charts at 114k-136k, depending on how you decide to count the double pack. Who knew a price drop and a decent game could actually increase sales?
Well the 3DS price drop followed closely by the release of Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario 3D Land is what catapulted the 3DS to the top in the first place. But yeah, it's great to see the Vita performing better. Whilst I still don't regret selling my Vita (yet), I would hate to see dedicated gaming handhelds like the 3DS & Vita driven to extinction by the growing popularity of disposable gaming on smartphone/tablets.
