Is it just my monitor, or do those screenshots look at lot better on the iPod touch than the Vita? I can hardly see anything in the Vita shot. The greens do pop more, but the details are missing. Maybe this is a matter of turning up the brightness on your Vita, though.

It's just really something one can't show with a camera.

I've been thinking about this or Shinobido 2. I was terrible at Ninja Gaiden on the PS3, but if it has an Easy mode, that might be enough to get me playing.

On an unrelated note, Rayman Origins is beautiful. I wasn't that into it for the PS3, but I took a chance on it for my Vita (figuring that, for some reason, I enjoy platformers a lot more on handheld devices), and it's outstanding.

Bought it today and it's a good device but not the be all end all in portable gaming that some have been hyping. What surprised me was how low rez the games look compared to retina display core games , like shadow gun. The assets are obviously higher with uncharted looking like a ps3 game , at least in my eyes , but I am stil not as impressed as I expected to be . I bought uncharted and wipeout and tried demos of unit 13 , asphalt racing and Rayman .
It seems that none of the games are running on the screen's native Rez which hurts their image quality a lot with some jaggies here and there being quite annoying .

Honestly I hope Sony has some high res AAA games coming up cause the iphone5/ipad3 games that will cost 5-10$ wil look more impressive .

If you you've been thinking of lumines as a choice GET IT. It's freaking amazing! If you like puzzle games that is...

I thought the same thing, but I know my Macbook screen has a habit of making dark colours too dark and losing the detail. I used to spend ages getting the perfect photo on GT5 on my PS3, then when I copied the images over they'd all be dark as heck.

I'm using the browser right now and I think it's pretty nice. I think I kind of like it more than browsing on iPad or iPod touch. Text being too tiny was an issue I had sometimes when browsing on the iPod touch, and on the iPad text would look all pixelated/blurry. The Vita is right in between- which I really like (and the size being inbetween the iPads and iPods makes it pretty comfy to hold and type). The difference in resolution between the Vita and iPhone 4/iPod touch isn't very big- there's a huge difference in ppi though. If the Vita had a smaller screen -about the size of the iPhone screen- there wouldn't be any noticable differences. Other things I l like are that it has yet to crash on me, it's easier to move the typing cursor around, and it opens the full versions of websites rather than the mobile versions. Only things I don't like so far are the lack of html video support, and the way it does suggestions/corrections. Also wish that I could scroll using the d-pad or analogue sticks. Browser definitely beats the PS3 browser.

Scrolling arround gives you these ugly checkerboard loadingbits is what I mean and sometimes zooming in makes the vita rerender the page. that's what I mean with the browser not being verry good. (the UI however is quite nice. I just wish it had the features of mobile Safari and android browser thingy mixed up with great HTML 5 and flash support)

Using the browser how do bookmarks work? You can bookmark but if you delete your browsing history it also deletes the bookmarks?

Found something else I don't like about the browser- while it remebers webpages, it doesn't seem to automatically come up with suggestions while typing in the address of a prevously visited page (like google chrome and mobile safari do). Really wish it did. Guess I'll just have to make bookmarks.

Whew! Time I give it a lil rest. I've played some Uncharted, Lumines, and Super Stardust. First impressions are pretty good. I don't really feel like writing a review, because I'm gonna come off as a fanboy. When this thing gets Call of Duty in the fall, I think I agree that it'll become a game changer. I can see the PSV under many kids Christmas trees. The shaders, lighting, and draw distance in Uncharted had me thinking about COD the whole time.
My biggest dislike is the lack of sensitivity in the joysticks, but after a little bit of time, I'm starting to get used to it. Poor use of the rear touch screen is the next complaint, but FIFA comes tomorrow, so we'll see.

As a dedicated games machine it's rather useless when it doesn't have good games. The PSP never had good games so I doubt the PSV with either as the buzz for it is low and not as high as the PSP was.

Why would you need to delete your browsing history? ;)

I think we all know the answer to that

In related news just played uncharted demo, pretty awesome for a launch title it seems.

I would absolutely disagree. I have a stack of good PSP games. Piracy killed the PSP, plain and simple. Major devs were scared away from the system by rampant soft-mod piracy. Even though I believe it was more of a perception thing. Pirates don't buy games that they cannot pirate. They simply pirate something else. But there was a perception that piracy was hurting sells and developers lost confidence in the system because of this.

Eventually, software development dried up completely, but I could name 2 dozen good PSP games. I own most of them. They are especially good games if you evaluate them as handheld/portable titles. Sometimes handheld games from Sony and Nintendo get unfairly compared to home console games, which drags down their average review rating.

Was just browsing the PSP games when I saw it... Mother F@-!$? POWERSTONE COLLECTION!!! Not sure how it's going to play, but damn if it isn't one of my all time favorite games. I'll update this post with impressions in a bit.

[Edit] - it's awesome!! The graphics are easily as smooth as it was on dream cast albeit a little stretched to fit the screen. But the main thing is the controls, they're pretty much spot on. If you're a Powerstone fan I would highly recommend it especially at $10. There is multiplayer up to 4 players but as you probably guessed its ad-hoc only.

I basicly agree anyone who says the PSP didn't have good games is just spouting drivel, there were hundreds of good games and some real gems like Jeanne d'arc which is probably the best TBS game I've played on anything.

I still have a ton of PSP games I really like and have played to death I'll probably get a few of them again digitally when I do buy myself a Vita in the next week or two.
