Aww thats rough I'll be sure to take pictures and post them on the thread when i get it just to rub it in your face that you have to wait a day haha
Well atleast Amazon seems to be sure that it'll be delivered by the 22.nd for me. (said that when I ordered it a bit over a week ago) I'm sure they send the stuff out before the release date, but tell the post offices to store the console until that date.
I'm pretty sure my brother told me they accidentally let some of the shipments go early and some people where getting them last week or so. Too bad you didn't get lucky!
I'm tempted to buy a Vita, especially seeing as it only costs 1/3 of the price I payed for my iPhone 4. But the main thing that's stopping me is the price of the games. £35 - £40 seems way overpriced. I don't know how much Vita Games cost in USA, but converted from GBP to USD, it's $55 - $63. I know we are spoiled as iOS gamers with our low priced games, but there is such a thing as a happy medium. £15 - £20 feels like a fair price for mobile/portable games.
There's nothing wrong in the U.S. with the price of Vita games. Actually, there's no difference between Vita games and 3DS games, but if you come mainly from an iOS background, perhaps you will be of the opinion that they are all too expensive. Home console games cost $59.99 (USD). Premium 3DS and Vita games cost $39.99. A few Vita games cost $29.99. I purchased Mod Nation Racers, because I wasn't that committed to it, on PSN, for $26.99. Uncharted is the only handheld game selling for 49.99. Every other game sells for at least $20 less than the standard home console price, which I believe is fair. The issue here is that these are launch titles. Most are not worth the price because the quality isn't neccessarily optimal. Such is the case with any launch lineup for any system that ever debuted. I've managed to find enough games that I enjoy though. Luckily, there is a large selection. Some of them are pretty good. It's just that some of them are kind of garbage-y, and not really worth any price. The quality is the issue for a handful of these initial games, not the price. Wipeout and F1 2011 are the only two I've tested so far. I've got no issues with them. The graphics are high quality and the frame rate is impressive, in both instances. And, with F1, the controls are surprising tight and precise. I sold my copy of F1 to Gamestop for $6, which is a complete rip-off, after playing just a few minutes of the Vita version. There's no comparison. The Vita version destroys the 3DS version, and I paid $39.99 for both games.
I owned a PS1, PS2 and PSP (in that order) before I bought my iPhone. I didn't mind paying for PSP games as they didn't typically have prices similar to PS3 games. The price range for a new premium PSP game in the UK was £19.99 - £29.99 (occasionally £34.99). In the UK we don't have that $20 difference between Vita games and home console games. At the moment PS3/360 games cost pretty much the same as Vita games -- most retailers seem to be selling the premium Vita games at £39.99.
Nintendo DS games were expensive too, many starting off at £40. In comparison to those, Vita games are worth the price, but in comparison to console games, both handhelds are ripping us off. That said, we've now got that whole thing about Vita games essentially being identical to their console counterparts... adding a new layer of confusion to the discussion of their value. Oh, and ShopTo are currently pricing Vita games at quite a variety of prices. At a quick glance, only one costs more than £35, some are under £30, some are under £20. Edit: Aright, with a deeper look there are about five that cost between £35 and £40. Still, there's cheaper stuff too.
I was only saying "perhaps" people with iDevices seeing games from other handheld devices as too expensive. Certainly not everyone. I have see people complain on principle alone that $30+ is too much for a handheld game, period. I know they are out there, but I thinks it's more of a minority. Everyone clearly doesn't think like that. I know pricing is out of control in some places. Can't really do anything about that, unfortunately. U.S. gaming seems to be such a huge part of the marketplace, so prices never get gouged around here. Developments can't risk alienating consumers and losing sells. Other regions, countries, nations do seem at times to draw the short end of the proverbial stick though.
I gotta say that I'm impressed with the browser too. It works pretty much the same as your typical iDevice Browser, and this is the first time you can say that about a portable device whose main function is gaming. The thing about the iPhone is that it restricts a lot of sites and refuses to recognize them as anything other than mobile sites, which is a real drag, because mobile sites are watered down. Something like E! Online. That site will never display properly on an iPhone. But it does on the Vita. It does on tablets too, like the iPad or the Kindle Fire, but the Vita is much more portable then tablets. The Vita also works well with the hotspot capabilities of your iPhone. So you can take your phone and Vita and get a reasonably complete Internet experience while on the road. Minus Flash, which isnt a huge deal to me, honestly. Also, no reason to buy 3G for your Vita if you own an iPhone. I want to test 3G online play with a iPhone-tethered Vita, but Wipeout servers are experiencing technical difficulties. Fair warning though. Much like the 3DS, the Vita can only multitask one main process. You can pause a game and use PSN, but you cannot pause a game and then use the Browser. iDevices still have other portable beaten in this regard. It's a small draw back, but nowhere near a deal breaker.
decided I'm going to cancel my preorder for my games at gamestop and pick them up at target and get the buy 2 get one free. Might as well since target is 1/4 of a mile from my gamestop lol
Well it depends on wich iDevice you're talking about there. An iPod Touch would in most cases just close the game anyway without you knowing, because it doesen't have enough ram.
That's what i thought too, especially seeing lots of people did that but apparently in malaysia store the game is of different "version"... and is listed as non-compatible at the top of the game's description.
But when they announced the compatibility list, Peace Walker wasn't on it...but, on the upside, if you check that link, right before they list all the titles, they say "more PSP titles will be made available for PS Vita play in the coming weeks". So there's hope (though again, even though they haven't confirmed exactly how much of the MGS HD bundle is coming over, it seems like it would only make sense if Peace Walker was included).
New plan again lol Wifi only $250 starter pack $40 uncharted $50 UMvC $40 Ninja Gaiden FREE because of the target deal $20 psn card
32GB card for $40 on Amazon. Could be a pricing error, but it's worth a try. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B006JKASCK/ref=cm_sw_su_dp
I pre-ordered my PS Vita this weekend, ready for 22nd. Should get on the day. I went for the bundle with Vita (Obviously), 8gb card and Fifa. It works out I am getting Fifa for £10 with this deal at £269. This will give me about £6 of reward points on my "Game" card so that I can then get Uncharted at a discount price. On the browser - does it have "flash"? This was one main problem with the internet on the ipad.
