Yeah, I signed up to see them. One can't really expect much from pictures taken with the vitas camera. Even the killstreaks in MC3 are more exciting than those.
No? Mc3 had uav, air strike, turret, chopper, bomber and nuke. Personally I don't like OP killstreaks. Even though I like nukes but it's black ops after all. Adv uav is quite good news
I seriously didn't like it. And party chat? In a Silent Hill game is just silly. One of the best things about the originals was that feeling of isolation... being completely alone and having to rely on your own instincts and reflexes to get yourself through the game. Party chat and co-op just ruins that whole atmosphere really. It just feels like a mediocre dungeon crawler wannabe that's been painted with a SH brush.
Cheating is possible on the first level (or first two?), but isn't really in later levels. The first level is supposed to be really easy so you can get the hang of it. The devs admitted that cheating was possible on the first level, but they said that they did their best to keep it fair in later levels, and said it would be interesting to see who could cheat best on the first level (to cheat, you just rapidly touch everywhere). I'm actually kind of looking forward to CoD: BO: D now, after reading some fairly positive previews of it. I'm trying not to get my hopes too high because of Resistance (which wasn't THAT bad as a game, but bad as an entry in the Resistance series). Cool that Nihilistic are finally opening up and giving out details on the game. They said that they'd love to do zombies (probably as a DLC- it currently lacks that mode), but Sony and Activision would have to greenlight it (probably depends on how well it sells). From recent previews, a lot of gaming journalists have said that the graphics have been significantly improved since it's reveal (better textures, better animations, enhanced color palette, etc.). Supposedly, the multiplayer cap was to ensure compatibility with party chat- if they made it more than eight players and more than eight friends played together, some wouldn't be included in the chat. There's a simple solution- just add chat to the actual game. Really pumped for NFS: MW and AC3: L. Zero Escape too. Too many games this time of year...
1) If you haven't played the SH games on the PS2, you really haven't played SH. Not to be a crotchety old gamer, but SH2 and 3 are the pinnacle of the series (and the genre, IMHO). 2) The graphics aren't bad for a $6.99 iPhone game (though Orc Vengeance and Bullet Time both look a lot better). On a full price ($40.00) console game they're inexcusable. Blob shadows, poor textures, recycle monster design, terrible character animation -- it frankly looks like a mediocre Gameloft game. 3) As a standalone RPG the game fares even worse, especially compared with titles like Torchlight 2 ($20.00 on Steam). The action is boring, the loot is paltry, there are little or no abilities to speak of, the combo system is beyond basic, etc.. I have nothing against a series taking a detour (Lara Croft: Guardian of Light is a favorite example), but if they are going to betray the spirit of the franchise, they might as well call it something else. 4) Whether the puzzles are hard or not is kind of immaterial: they are not integrated into the gameplay and feel basically thrown into the mix. The whole "find the puzzle pieces" structure promises to be seriously repetitive, more like something you see in a cheap iOS games and not what you expect from a $40 console game. 5) I've had plenty of fun with some terrible games. (I played the crap of Enter the Matrix, for example, which I picked up from a bargain bin for $3.99.) Doesn't make them any less terrible. 6) Even Konami knows that the game is "crap sh@@," that's why they're basically dumping it (no pun intended) into the market with little or no marketing. They're hoping that game-starved Vita owners and SH fanatics will pick it up regardless of quality. I personally find that reprehensible. I can't speak to the game's multiplayer component, but I can't imagine that such uninspired gameplay would improve significantly when shared with others -- perhaps I'm wrong about that. In any event, I expect that the multiplayer lobbies will be be ghost towns when the game is released. I just checked the PSN store and found that several more PS One classics have finally arrived. I don't think that musty old games are going to save the Vita, but it's nice to see such excellent titles available for $5.99-9.99. Any of those would be a far better buy than SH:BoM.
Then again comparing with iPhone games, I don't know about it. I have 4S but at the same Time I like playing games on the vita a lot better. It is not a great game. I would give about 6.5/10 right now after the demo. But it's not terrible. It's just a spin off
And you are not obviously didn't read anything I said. It is SPIN OFF and I did say its nothing like previous silent hill games. And hell I know old silent hill games are more creeper and harder, but everyone has different taste. My point is, it's not a terrible game. Game that is actually fun, rather than putting every hates you can possible find and bitch about it. If you don't like it, don't buy it, simple as that.
I'm not comparing iOS and Vita "games." I'm comparing this $40.00 piece of crap with much better games costing much less. If playing with "real" controls makes that much of a difference to you, then more power to you. I'd rather play good games (not cynical cash-ins) in whatever platform they are available.
You gotta admit now, all these reasons iOS game is cheap is they have something called in app purchase. That is real piss off for ios games
Not just ios, PC is getting in n the freemium bandwagon as well. Epic's latest blockbuster will be F2P, apparently.
Just because its a spin off, does not excuse it from being a terrible game. You could strip away all of the Silent Hill elements and it would still be a mediocre game. In fact, the name alone is probably the only thing that'll shift any copies. Seriously, I'm not one to try an predict the future but I can almost guarantee that reviews for this will be pretty disappointing. And this isn't just me and Squarezero, go read previews of it... it seems very few people have anything positive to say about it and with perfectly good reason. I want the Vita to do well as much as anyone else, but when we get mediocre throw aways like this, you can't help but feel that the Devs just don't trust the future of the platform. And don't give me the whole, "Don't like it, don't buy it" speech, this is a public forum in which people are just as entitled to express their disappointment with something just as much as you're entitled to express your joy at it. You don't need to get super defensive just because someone doesn't like a game you enjoyed.
There are a few freemium games I can think of coming to the Vita (and some already out). The most notable is Phantasy Star Online 2. Then there is Ecolibrium, Picotto Knights, Zen Pinball 2, and Treasures of Montezuma Blitz. There are probably a few more I forgot about.
Yeah but they are totally free. I am talking about games actually cost like $5 or higher like Gameloft games or even $1 games. Hell some games have $99 IAP! It's crazy how they put it in these things into lil games. Kids could he playing and they could just buy it without knowing it. It happened couple times. Taking out bunch of cashed from my bank
Not that I really want to get into this discussion, but Zen Pinball 2 isn't really freemium like the other games. You only have to pay once for the tables.
Why isnt ridge racer dirt cheap yet? I cant wait to have Most Wanted. Racers are my favorite games on handhelds.
Way ahead of you. Wipeout games are fun, but I like the roar of engines and (somewhat) realistic racing environments. I know it's racing, but wipeout just doesn't hold a candle to a game like Burnout. I'm hoping Most Wanted comes through.
