I guess you saw that statement too from that guy.. People don't understand that that was the communications guy, not a developer. People like that may be kept in the dark oN some of these things so to me him not knowing truely wasn't a big deal.
YouTube is out today if you live in the US. Weird that they didn't mention it on blog under 'The Drop'. Edit: Some impressions: Good: -Supports 720p video -allows you to look at comments, info, and recommended videos while watching video a la the iPad version -Has a 'new' label on more recent videos Bad: -No support for subscriptions; only has four sections- Featured, Search, History, and Favorites -Comments are limited way below the actual YouTube limit. Only allow for a few words -No way to filter results -No way to look through a channels uploaded videos other than search So yeah, it works, but only if you like watching random videos. If you subscribe to channels that upload more than one video a day, this app won't work very well for you. You're better off using the YouTube downloader and the actual website. Much like the web browser, this app is overly gimped- which doesn't make sense to me, considering that this has a very good Netflix app and NicoNico supports subscriptions. Hopefully they update it, but it seems like they just made this so people could watch walkthrough videos. Everything works fine, and it feels polished, but the missing features ruin it for me.
I am sure they will be more supports, but seriously I like it more than my iPhone! I am so used to the small screen and now I see videos on here... It feels different lol
Yeah, videos do look a lot better on the Vita's OLED. Still disappointed that it doesn't support subscriptions. Side note- YouTube will be out Thursday for everyone in Europe.
Actually, ignore this. It isn't a featured section- there isn't one (which is a bad thing I guess?). It has a 'Recommended' section which is actually all the videos uploaded by channels you subscribe to (in addition to random videos that are recommended). So yeah, I was being dumb, and should have messed with it more. So yeah, it actually isn't as bad as I thought it was.
WIFI again.. (apologies, as I made a thread on this way back) Question: is the wireless receiver on the Vita cack, or is mine just faulty? In the 3 months I've now connected to various wifi networks and it's always the same story, very poor reception unless I'm right close to the router. Example: In the same room as router, usually no issues within 5 meters or so (3 bars) Next door to router... (behind a thin stud wall) - approx 3 meters from router - 1 to 0 bars. I find that unacceptably poor for a modern wireless device. Anything else I connect (iphone/ipad/laptop) never, EVER, has any issue with signal anywhere in my flat - 2 bars minimum, always full on the ipad/laptop. I spoke with UK Playstation support today who only succeeded in patronising me, rather than acknowledging I understood signal will vary across different devices, though they did offer a replacement via collect and return courier etc. So is it worth sending back for a refurb unit / and 3 months on, have any of you noticed anything similar?
Yeah it sucks lol,i have bt infinity and the reception upstairs in my house is very dodgy EDIT- but yeah 3 metres away should be good not 1-0 bars like yours
It's the same for me and my brother. It's something with the vita accepting only super strong signals and won't pick up the weak ones other wireless devices pick up. Its really foggy to me because I read about this awhile back
Hi Mash, so you can actually use yours upstairs ( i assume your router is downstairs?) ...passing through walls and floors, I don't think my Vita woulkd have a chance at that
Ahh right, well then I guess there's no point me sending off for another, though I think this is totally unacceptable from Sony, especially in a device which is ideally always connected. :/
I never give the signal bars much thought. They may stay at 1 or 2 bars, but I never have any problem with the connection. Everything loads fine, and multiplayer stays smooth.
I seem to have gotten lucky with this Vita, its my first and only. I have not experienced any Wifi connectivity issues, although I do know it has plagued others. I think after all the problems I had with dead pixels on my psp as soon as I powered it on for the first time, its the least the sony gods could do for me. I returned 7 psps because of dead pixels on the screen, I could not catch a break. My final psp only had 1 dead pixel that fired red on black screens only. I said to hell with it and kept it at that point...
I've only had one issue with my wi-fi. It was with Paint Park and I had selected to connect to others, I didn't realize it was through Ad Hoc. After leaving the ap, Ad hoc would not turn off and I couldn't reconnect to wi-fi to get to PSN or anything else. Had to eventually hard reboot to get it back. On another note, Spider Man was released on iOS devices and the thread is a mess. Lot's of people frustrated over how it runs on their devices as well as some Vita bashing in there also. Don't really care and don't want to get involved...
I haven't had any connectivity issues with my Vita at all. It gets better reception than my iPod touch 4th gen and 3DS do. It normally has three or four bars when I'm several feet away- about 20 (or around 6 meters). The only thing I've noticed the Vita doing, is it will automatically disconnect from the wi-fi when you're not using it for anything as a power saving feature. So if I'm browsing a web page and it doesn't have anything to load after a few minutes, then it will disconnect. As soon as something needs to load, it reconnects. Do you have a 3G or a wi-fi only? Ive got the wi-fi.
Wow, so I guess the Beta doesn't work after that? (I'm not in the Beta group so don't know the details).
This is a pretty good ad from Sony making fun of the 3ds. http://www.gamezone.com/products/ps-vita/news/new-resistance-trailer-picks-on-the-nintendo-3ds
It's a good ad but I don't think they're referring to Nintendo's handheld. I don't even think there's any FPS games on there.
