Just be honest to yourself and face the fact Sony had the chance to boost Vita sales .... They ####ed it up Even interviews before hand 1guy said hopes a price drop gets mentioned to boost sales, the Vita wasnt even focussed on. Sony do have a thing about changing names to make old things sound new-playstation mobile? Come on who gives a toss
Agreed. I'm hopeful for Vitas future but it seems Sony are making some glaring mistakes already. We might all be better off with a Galaxy S3 and onlive
Personally, I do no like first-party games. I tolerate them, at best. I hate Nintendo first-party games, and at no point have I or will I take them seriously. Sony first-party games, on the other hand. Meh. I can take them or leave them. I suppose they can be decent. But even Uncharted does nothing for me, really. Resistence doesn't move the needle much either. Its all about the third-party gaming for me. I own both a 3DS and a Vita. The number given by Sony was 60 Vita games. A significant portion of those are of the third-party variety. Case in point, Need for Speed Most Wanted, listed by EA as a Vita release. Now that's what I'm talking about. I don't care one way or another what Sony develops internally.
If you dont like my opinion, dont read it. All you do is cause offense to other ppl with your hate against what everyone else says. Do you cry to your mum when someone says something bad against Sony? Chill out its a forum ffs
My honest opinion with Sony is that I think they're a little concerned when it come to the future. Sure, the PS3 is doing well now but it struggled sudstantially when it launched and Sony were taking massive losses on it. Add to that the underwhelming sales of Vita and I think that Sony's shyness in regarding the PS4 is because they're a little unsure about where to go with it. As for the press conference... it was ok I guess. Not terrible but Sony really did drop the ball with the Vita. It really should've been Sony's main focus and yet it seemed more of an after thought. Don't get me wrong, I like my Vita, but I am starting to question whether I'll still be in possession of it come the Vita's 1yr anniversary.
They're definitely worried for the future of the company as a whole, but considering that the PS3 is one of their few financial bright spots, it's weird that they didn't try to do more last night. I mean, I was really excited after they showed that opening sizzle reel, but then it seemed like most of the games it showed off weren't mentioned at all. Why show Portal? What was with that game that looked like Bully? And why announce games like Sound Shapes, Sly Vita, etc., on the PlayStation Blog, rather than mention them when people were really paying attention? How old are you? People can love the Vita (I know I do) and still think that Sony blew it last night. ... Anyway, in positive Vita news: Earth Defense Force on the Vita! (But possibly only in Japan)
They said what they needed to. I think we'll see more info come today through Thursday from the showroom floor. The opportunity to sell the device will come with the launch of CoD and AC. It still sells steady in the US, so they're weathering the storm until the holiday season. I can guarantee we'll see a lot of viral marketing come late October. Summer is always a slow time in gaming. On another note, we saw great titles for PS3, AAA titles coming to PS+, cross-controller compatibility for LBP (it'll be great if this works out), the Vita beat out PS3 players on Heroes, hulu plus and crackle, and the crystal white PSV is coming to North America. There's still plenty of time and events between now and holiday season that Sony has the opportunity to show off mobile games. I mean the show was only an hour and a half, and Jack cut out his typical sales spiel. I mean, Holy Smokes! Look at all the great games PS+ members get today. http://blog.us.playstation.com/2012/06/05/playstation-plus-e3-2012/
By the time Sony wakes up (IF Sony wakes up), Vita will have already been smashed to pieces by the 3DS and it will be too late. Even that stupid book seems to be getting more attention. As much as I love it I'm afraid Vita is losing its tempo, I don't see any reason whatsoever for anyone to buy it except for hardcore gamers and even that I start to question. (Waiting for an angry reply from our pet baby troll)
Just imagine how many Vita games could have been shown in the time Wonderbooks took up.... Hopefully more third-party Vita titles will be revealed on the show floor over the week.
EDIT: oh here he is with a witty reply above^^ yeah i need to find the block button to erase him completely
You shouldn't have deleted it -- I read it before you did, and it was nicely thought out! More Vita news that Sony bafflingly ignored last night: Little Big Planet trailer!
Honestly I'd rather hear a fan boy talk than a whole bunch of debbie-downers. I think the reality of the situation is y'all will never be pleased. They aren't gonna waste a ton of time on mobile games that have already been announced that, in all honesty, don't have the type of hype as The Last of Us, GoW, and Beyond. I agree the Wonderbook demonstration was a waste of time, but there's no denying J.K. Rowling sells heaps of material. There are hundreds of millions of Harry Potter fans out there. If you want games, all you have to do is look at news from the past few months. MGS HD Collection and Gravity Rush next week, LBP, Jet Grind Radio, Sound Shapes, and Persona in the pipeline, AC, CoD, and Soul Sacrifice by the end of the year. I know I'm missing a ton more. They didn't need to waste their time showing off all of these games cause everyone already knows they're coming, and at this point in time they may not be worth showing off.
Agree everyone knows whats due out Its the fact nothing new was shown-oh wait actually thinking about it, the Call of Duty Declassified logo was shown! Wow lets all clap our hands and cheer Thanks Sony, it was worth staying up for...
I think their point was that they're disappointed that Sony didn't showcase the vita and it's games/capabilities more e3 is one great big commercial and they're missing out on selling a lot of vitas. The point was that Sony needs to support the vita post-launch otherwise it's going to be another 8 track tape or whatever. And sony's financial situation is dire...hopefully they can pull out of it.
Trust me, nothing good could come out of showing Call of Duty Vita after they just showed Call of Duty on 360. It's just gonna be a big pile of hurt. There will be a much better time to show off those games. Had they shown gameplay of CoD or AC, y'all would just be bickering about how it doesn't even compare to the home console versions.
Thanks. I re-read through and it just sounded like griping from me. There's enough of that to go around and I really didn't want it to sound like I was a jaded owner. Now that I think back, my son and I watched the event (first one for him ) and there were several "oh cool" moments. Realistically, I really love my Vita and even with the games I know that are coming out, have enough to keep me busy for months. The way I see it, there are a few seemingly good games coming out each month that I know of - that's more than enough to keep me busy. The ONLY thing I would say I really wished they would have touched on would be Remote Play.
Everyone? I don't think many people even know what the Vita is, let alone the games the system is getting in the future. Sony's E3 press conference was supposed to be a showcase of the biggest Vita games, but the company failed to deliver any significant gameplay videos. Honestly, even a Vita-specific montage would have been better than that Wonderbook crap that apparently even bored the industry professionals at E3. The Vita ended up feeling like just an after-thought on Sony's part.
This was one of my points in my delete post (maybe I should have just left it). For the most part, we all own or closely follow the system. We are aware of what is coming out because we choose to read and follow the news. The presentation last night would have been a key opportunity to show what that is to people who do not own a Vita. A 1 minute montage with Gravity Rush, Soul Sacrifice, MGS, etc, would have done just that. I made the comparison to the WiiU. I am a gamer. I am aware of the WiiU, but don't have a clue as to what games are coming out or what has been announced. I think the concept is interesting, but not interesting enough to win me over yet. If Nintendo goes all out and shows me what games are coming (let's say with a montage), I might have an inclination to actually go and read more on the WiiU. To me, this is what Sony should have at least done. Sure, announcements are made on the PS Blog, but as a potential customer, why would I be reading the PS blog? It's about getting the information out and planted rather than relying on someone finding it on their own. Just showing some of those games could have piqued some interest from gamers who don't necessarily follow the Vita.
