So it's not bad but certainly not breathtaking. Hmm. Ok thanks. One thing I was definitely disappointed about with nova 3 was the controls, you can't fully customizes them. I bet the vita shines here. I watched some gameplay, and was disappointed after watching gameplay of golden abyss, in terms of animations and lighting. One thing I'm curious about, though, is the variety in enemies. How many different types are there?
I've honestly only encountered 3 types of enemies so far. The Chimera that are ground based troops, Chimera that have jet packs and fly and then the "spider" like creatures. Control wise, I have no issue with movement, aiming or even the touch controls. The touch is mainly for secondary weapon actions like locking onto an enemy or loading up the crossbow ammo. I think it's blown out of proportion to say that they are bad or detract from the game, they are fine to me. *EDIT* Just encountered a new type - flying robot sentry type.
by the way, here is Gametrailers video review: http://www.gametrailers.com/video/review-hd-resistance-burning/730555 Story: 7.0 Design: 8.2 Gameplay: 8.0 Presentation 7.9 Final score: 8.1/10
It's an average game, I'm gonna finish up this single player then hop on multi tonight when hopefully there'll be some good games going on. While nothing about it is breath taking, it is hands down the best/most comfortable FPS on a dedicated portable gaming device (from any I've played on PSP, DS). And if this is average, I'd say that Vita has a very bright future in this genre.
I usually like Gametrailers reviews. The problem with the IGN one is that Greg Miller always reviews Vita games expecting a facsimile PS3 experience which is nonsense IMO. He also reviewed Gravity Rush and it was a terrible job. Jim Sterling is probably the most bipolar reviewer I ever read, sometimes write great ones but (most) often (than not) misses completely the mark. RBS may not be a great game, but in no way it's a 2.0. I'll buy it anyway because I love the series, don't care if it's an average game. As I always play FPS in the hardest difficulty, I hope that will win me some time if the campaign is indeed short. And even if the game is that bad at least we'll get another easy platinum to boast
PSN should update by 7pm EST. Last week the update dropped at like 3pm, so it could be up any time now.
Oooh, I didn't realize that Gravity Rush demo was coming out tonight, it'll be great to spend some time with that and not be on a store display. Also, Pure Chess looks great. I've never been a big chess player, but I might crack and get this. *edit* Also see that a new video app will be out today in the US as well - Niconico? http://blog.us.playstation.com/2012/05/29/nico-nico-social-video-service-coming-today-to-ps-vita/ I have honestly never heard of this. Apparently it's similar to youtube. Couldn't hurt to download I guess. This is turning out to be a good day for my Vita! Also, I'm digging Resistance a lot more now. I'm getting into some different areas and now have the Auger which shoots through walls and can be used to put up a temporary shield. It has to be said, the second analog stick was essential for the Vita, it makes this game feel really great.
Resistance full game and demo (3.1 GB) and Gravity Rush demo (472 MB) are actually all up on PSN right now, but you'll have to search for them.
That's wild, I hadn't even noticed that. I wonder why they did that? It's okay, but in this case, I still prefer the original art since it looks different if you put it next to other games on your shelf (i.e. - no title on the spine). Makes you wonder if the cases were meant to be clear or something.
I just noticed the colors in the holes of the case. Like you said, I had it changed until I put it next to my other games. That Gravity Rush demo just put it back on my gamedar.
Hey got the game today and it's awesome I mean it's obv it's not a 8.5 game It's around maybe Max 7 And nova 3 really I would say this game is better than nova 3 Nova 3 ####ed up really bad by not making MP and movement and controls like mc3 This game is better than nova 3 even with the 8 player multiplayer Man I was playing party chat match with my buddies on online, so much fun with mics on This gives me hopes what killzone and call of duty could bring to the table. This game is good start for vita's FPS. I don't think it's bad at all. P.S there is new app on PSN which is like YouTube, you can live stream your videos and shits, check it out!
That NicoNico is dumb as sh!t. I feel stupid for even registering an account. Probably the only reason it makes it into the Japanese Top 15 websites is because it live streams japanese eye candy.
I think the biggest issue with Resistance: Burning Skies is the developer that Sony put at the helm. I mean, with the quality of their last game they made for Sony, it seems like really poor judgment. They should've at least had another studio oversee it's production, like Sony Bend or maybe a few people from Insomniac (Sony really needs to buy them). Also, why would you choose a company with no experience in the field of shooters? At least Sony Bend had experience with the genre and help from the creators of the series when making Uncharted: Golden Abyss. Downloading the demo now. Hopefully it's not as bad as I'm thinking it will be.
