congrats! i just got this game, so i probably have no chance of winning, but i am interested in getting better... ive never really had a chance to play against anything other than AI opponents, so i probably really suck ATM..

I would not congratulate Benetti just yet. At 92 wins 0 losses, he is likely either a highly rated player (i.e. a rated master or higher) or a cheater using a chess program like Rybka to tell him what moves to make. Nothing else is likely.

His games need to be run through Rybka to be sure. Rybka is rated 3300 and can crush the human world champion with ease. If Rybka does not find actual mistakes in your play, your using a computer. Its that simple.

Please note that I am NOT accusing Benetti of cheating. Its quite possible he is a very strong player. Unless he links to an official rating though, his record is suspect pending analysis of his games with Rybka.

I am not going for a prize, I just dont like to see a potential cheater lauded. No prize should we awarded without analyzing some of the winners games with Rybka or similar program (such as the free, but equally strong, Firebird or Robbolitto programs).

^ Agreed. If you're handing out high price prizes like you are you should make sure everything is on the up & up.

    Hi Art

We understand your concerns. Benetti has been a fairly active player since the day we launched Chess Elite and has consistently won games. We have played games against him and analysed his games as well. We are no match to his skills so if some of the highly ranked TA forum members to play games against him that would be great.

Benetti had just posted his initial posts on TA forums as well but have not seen him active on the Chess Elite community recently

    Hello,

While I am not pursuing any of the prizes in chess elite, I would feel qualified, and would be willing to go through and analyze games from any potential winners if you want me to. Please PM me and I can provide you with stats, tournament victories, etc. I coach chess and am quite familiar with playing against computers.

The Chess Elite folks are great people, but I get the impression they dont have Rybka (or similar) much less understand how to actually check for fraud.

Try challenging Mr. 110-0 to a game, analyze with Rybka afterwards (or use Rybka during the game as long as you arent going for a prize) and post the results.

I would do it, but I only have Fritz 8, which is probably "only" 26-2700 strength on my 3 year old notebook, so it wouldnt be as dispositive . . . its totally possible that an IM with tons of time could beat Fritz 8 so it wouldnt prove much.

I had some problems making an account earlier- the activation email didnt seem to do anything but as soon as I get that sorted out I will play him and analyze the game afterwards. I've played IMs before, as well as a couple GMs. In the meantime, if anyone wants to post a game they played against him, or PM me the notation that would be great.

I'm not quite sure how Elite Chess works, yet, but I can play someone multiple times, correct? That is, I can play him w and w/o an engine, right?

    Contest has been withdrawn

    Hi Guys

We are being notified by Apple not to give away Apple Products as prizes for our Chess Elite contest. This, according to Apple is not allowed and hence we would be stopping this contest. We thought it is not worth continuing with this if we are not allowed to give away the best-in-class products (Our favorite products too) as prizes for the winners

We are in the process of informing all our users through the Email they have used for registering to Chess Elite. We would be giving away prices to the people who till now have attained the Elo ratings of 2100 and above.

You can find more details on this thread:
    http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=28004&page=49

We ran into this issue with Apple when we had submitted a new binary of Chess Elite for review that contained the 'Chat' feature. Our binary got rejected as we were running the contest. Its been close to 10 days now and our version 1.4 of Chess Elite is still not available on the App Store. We have now decided to stop this contest so that Apple approves our new update soon and Chess Elite users are allowed to use the 'Chat' feature in the new version.

Thanks a lot for supporting us throughout the contest and giving your valuable feedback.

Now for some good news: A Real World Grand Master will be joining you all soon on Chess Elite :). Stay tuned for more news on the Grand Master :)

You could award the players the cash equivalent, which would avoid breaking the oral contract implied in your contest thread. Just a tip, since I personally won't invest time playing for prizes when the company running the contest is new or unknown.

Your original motivation for running the contest was not to distribute "the best in-class products ([your] favorite too)" out of love for Apple, but rather to entice Apple gamers with Apple prizes, and reap the rewards in so doing.
