Really? I don't remember him. Then again, I beat Conquest then jumped into Hardcore and never went back. The bosses and mini bosses are cool in this game. They really showcase the lasers, especially the last boss and that circular boss. Yeah my last run I got that score. Trying to beat Tatanak will take some concentration, and it is just a matter of time before Syntheticvoid sees this game and starts in on the boards too. Must be stuck in a void somewhere.
The trick is with the bombs. When you get one, hold onto it and don't use it. It acts as a buffer, the same way you hold onto the health orb in Phoenix HD. This is especially important in Hardcore mode where it is only one hit and you're dead. That bomb is serving as an extra life. Oh, and that shredder shield (can't remember the exact name). Once I get that bad boy, I aim it right for the red spots on the screen that show the entrance point for the enemies and just grind 'em up as they filter in Speaking of, for future difficulty mode options, it might make sense to be able to turn off these 'enemy entrance zone signifiers' to add to the randomness.
Fun game, but is the gameplay field not supposed to fill the whole screen on the iPhone 5? There are bars like in a game not optimized for the iPhone 5. No big deal at the top because the score fills the empty space there, but the bottom is just black space. Doesn't look this way in the pics or video, maybe it's just me. I may try deleting and reinstall...
You mean where is the hit box around the ship? I can't answer that accurately, since I don't let any part of my ship touch any bullets. It definitely isn't like Danmaku with the grazing and the cockpit is all that is susceptible, that's for sure. Less bullets = less leniency.
Wait, do you mean that bomb goes off automatically when you get hit? And yes that shredder shield is awesome. Very satisfying. More shmups should have a similar mechanic.
The gameplay area keeps the same aspect ratio on every device, iPad gets narrow bars on the side and iPhone 5 gets bars on the top and bottom. The UI uses the whole screen though, so it covers less of the gameplay area on those devices. I experimented with different ways to use the whole screen, but it made the game-play different from device to device. The shape of the play area is pretty important for a game like this, so keeping it consistent made the most sense.
Haha, I'll do that if you change your screen name to ILoveConsumableIAP. You should do it for April Fool's
Yes, the bomb goes off when you get hit, basically acting as another life, so don't ever use it intentionally. EDIT: Sorry for the multiple posts. This internet sucks. The shredder shield reminds me a lot of the attack shield in Inferno. Same concept.
Got a couple weird errors. ---------------- Error (Marmalade v6.2.1) Heap 0 out of memory. Allocating 84 bytes but only 16504 available (44 LFB) Increase icf setting [s3e] MemSize (current value is 5000000) Continue ------------------ Error (Marmalade v6.2.1) Bucket 'system' out of memory. Allocating 84 bytes but only 16504 available (44 LFB) Continue ----------------------- Then it crashed after the second continue. I'm on iPhone 4S running iOS 6.1.2 (906 free MB). Not a big deal, I've played a lot and it only happened once.
I had the same error as m44 (once) what never ever happend before. The game took me 26 minutes to beat. Used eight ships and to my surprise, i boosted my highscore up to nine millions. Since the counter starts at zero again when i push 'continue', does the score boost up that much in the latest levels (incl. boss) or is the score an addition of all 'continues' when you beat the game?
I'll work on that error today. It happens if you play a ton without re-launching the app. So, sorry, will fix! You get more points on later levels, but the score is completely cleared when you die. If you can get to the end levels without continuing, you'll end up with a much higher score.
