Well, for icade joystick owners, I would think the normal setting is the best by far, slow would be the second I would think. Fast is ok, but it is kinda hard to control, unless you get used to it. Normal icade games do not have speed settings for the joystick like yours do, and there is no documentation in the game on it, so they will just assume that the is only one setting for icade. From feedback I am getting, the majority of icaders are not figuring that out initially, and maybe disappointed in the controls cause they will find them too fast. I have been posting for everyone to try the other settings with icade, but without the point out, I am afraid that icade users will never know, and that would be a true shame. What I think best if you want to keep high as default for icade controls is this. Slow keep same Normal make between the old slow and old normal High make it the old normal Higher make it the old high Highest make it the old higher Delete the old highest. Actually, I think I would prefer this, cause another setting between the old slow and old normal would be kinda cool. It would be a shame if icaders who didn't read this board, didn't realize you could change the joystick settings and just played on high which is the third best control setting. I fear they will too cause all feedback from players to me is they are not trying the normal speed mode, and feel the icade controls are too fast and hard to control. What do you think of my proposed solution?
Wow, it works great! It's even more fun with icade junior! I'm very, very impressed. This game keeps getting cooler and cooler (or is that more and more cool?)
NVM - just picked it up. 40+ pages of glowing (pun intended) response is good enough for me. Great oogly moogly! Awesomeness!!! My new fav shump outside of Cave's BH games. This one will get played more
This is SO good! Only wish is if in Conquest mode I could choose a starting level. Maybe just from the levels I've progressed to so far. I know with continues I can blast through, but being able to start at a higher level (perhaps with a score bonus?) would be nice for quick play sessions.
Pretty pleased with my 5.5 mil in Survival. I know I won't be #1 for long, hopefully it's good enough to keep me in the top 3 for a while.
Ok, I'll look into tweaking this. Glad you like it! Thanks Greg! I'd like to add the option to practice higher levels, but I haven't figured out how the UI would work. I don't really want to have another screen where you pick your starting level after hitting play, it kind of breaks the flow.
Buster Spirits did a good job of giving you the option of starting on any level that you had completed through a page interface. I think either a separate mode called "Practice" where you can select the level (either through a page interface or through some dropdown lists or something) would be awesome. As it is I have to grind through 3/4 of the entire game on hardcore or the stardmode before I'm facing any of the levels that I've maybe seen only a few times only to die because there's just no easy way to practice and get better at the game without dedicating hours upon hours of time. An idea? If you want to go all out on a practice mode you could group the levels into blocks of 8... so 10 blocks of levels (or 4, 20 blocks)... then set some score requirements for 1 star, 2 star, and 3 star (Or alphabet ranking D - for below the minimum, C, B, A, S - for unusually high scores) and then set us off to get both practice and have yet something else to strive for (tie an achievement to it too for 40 points for A rank and 100 for all S's). Instead of calling "Practice" you could call it "Ranking" mode or something. Without something only the more hardcore players are ever going to do really well at this game and I thought you wanted to reach ... well... even the non-hardcore gamers that like shmups.
Yes, that junior looks quite cool. I would love to give it a whirl. But someday try it with it's big bro, an icade core and a retina ipad, it is cool too.
You did see my title change right (below my handle). Kinda unexpected, I think Official iCadeGigolo and HDMIPimpster Expert would have been too long, unfortunately.
How's bout ... Pimpin-iCade&HDMI since 2013 My q is, how far are you into any mode of Plasma Sky? Lots of talk about icade settings but how much are they getting used? Your GC only show Conquest having been played to maybe the second or third level, but I know you were helping test the update so the original game may not have been getting much love.
Connector, he is wondering if you can walk the walk as well as you talk the talk. I sense a challenge.
We are friends. I know his typical dedication to gaming and am fishing for some support for a Practice mode since I think he'd benefit from it even more than I would. I think it would help elevate the game among gamers of all ability.
Hehe, Nightc1, you know I am not a serious gamer. Rarely play any game more than 15 minutes. This game though is qso much fun with a joystick. As for being on gamecenter, the first beta overwrote my original game, then went through about 4 quick icade builds, I never logged into gamecenter sandbox, and had to delete all and gamecenter delete to reinstall the new build. So played 2 games, just for fun. First game, got 2.7 mil, then second game got over 4 million. I think I can go way higher though, since I haven't played much, in fact, your high score doesn't seem that high, but I will have to see if I can beat it soon. My score is attached. Weird though, does gamecenter not count offline scores? Went back online, and there was no update on my score to gamecenter. Why? Do I have to be online? Usually I always play games offline unless they are multiplayer. That would kinda suck for gamecenter high scores though. Gamecenter is still showing that I got only 27,000 or something. What bunk. I think I will try this week to beat your score Nightc1, if I do, you have to buy an icade core joystick, now that you challenged me. I still wonder which is easier icade joystick or touch. Hmmm, guess I will have to play a little touch soon and see if I can get 4 million easily. Pretty easy to get 4 million with a joystick, seemed like a walk in the park. Now let's see if I can beat your 8.8 million soon.
I would really love that! Just thought I'd add my vote so you know more people would like that. I wonder if there would be a way to draw peoples attention to Survival mode? I think it's such a shame that only a small portion of GC players have played it.
That score = sick. I was pleased to break the top 10 last nite, though I wouldn't be surprised if I've been knocked down from 10 by now.
