Thanks for the hard work on getting the iCade controls so slick guys! Ned was finding the touch controls too unresponsive
If you were Beta testing like I was before you, you will probably have to delete the game and re-download. Updates don't appear on the Beta version.
Volbard, I had to delete and reinstall to get the new build. The default controls was set to high. Why? Shouldn't it default to normal? Normal I think is the best for both touch and icade. High maybe a little fast for most players. Anyway, fyi. Also, all icaders, you can set in the joystick options, low, normal, high, highest, and max. The ship will move different speeds depending on which setting you use. I like slow and normal myself, so make sure to try out all the sensitivity settings cause each makes the game play differently. Also to get icade to start, exit out of the game and reenter. Type in your name for the high score when your icade isn't attached or cancel out. Anyone got a good idea yet which is easier for high scores, joystick or touch? And which do you prefer in terms of fun?
Thanks Connector for this info on the icade! I'll definitely change the joystick setting because when I tried to play last night my ship was moving around so fast I had little control. I also find I've had the same issue with Super Mole Escape. Thank you to all involved in getting this icade compatible. Much appreciated
Yeah, I too found it odd that the icade joystick setting was set to high, most players would like the normal setting. Slow is pretty cool too. Try it again on the normal joystick sensitivity setting, you will enjoy it much more. Volbard, can you change future updates or fresh installs to default as normal? If not, maybe make normal into high, and change normal to something between the normal and slow.
can you play this in landscape? I'd be interested in getting it for iCade mode, but I also want to play it in landscape.
Ok I'll try it on normal a little later today. I have to rest for a little while! Slow sensitivity works quite well too but high sensitivity was like skating on very slippy ice. What a great game this is!!! Thanks
When I was beta testing for the icade update, that was one of the first things I asked too cause of my love of HDMI tv and landscape plays so great on a huge tv. Volbard did look into it, but it was determined that it would be too hard to put in at this time. But I agree with you, would love for shmups to have a landscape option too as a perk. Especially when one is playing on hdmi or appletv, landscape is the preferred orientation. Games like Blazing star, deathsmiles, and others play so well using the full tv screen. Maybe Volbard can add it to Plasma Sky 2 (hehe, wouldn't that be great)!!!
I'm going to try this out today on my icade jr. I love that little thing. I don't know if that has to be programmed differently from the regular icade but figured I'd give it a try when I get home.
Plasma sky works fine with my iphone 4 with my icade core. So yes, it should work fine, if not I'm sure we can work with Volbard to make sure it works. I think all icade compatible joysticks, and all suppported iphones/itouches should work with icade and Plasma sky. Let us know how all 5 joystick speed settings work. Picture of icade junior
I would actually recommend getting an icade core joystick. It has great gameplay cause of the big stick and buttons, and you can use it with an iphone or ipad. Just put your iphone on a little stand, and play with the icade core in hour lap. Or play with iphone in hdmi/appletv mode with a big tv. Then you can just put the icade core in your lap. Plus, if you ever get an ipad, you can use it with it later. Or even play on a friend's ipad cause it pairs up really easily. But icade junior looks like great fun too.
A few questions. I read early on the control response was a bit slow. Has this been fixed in an update or is it a non-issue? How quickly does the game launch? I have Warblade. Is this different/better enough to earn a spot on my device or replace Warblade? Apologies if the answers are in the thread. 40+ pages is more than I have time to read!
I like high for touch mode, and I hoped setting the default to something other than normal would encourage people to experiment and find the setting they like. The sensitivity is linked across the modes, so it's the same default for all of them. I can adjust it if you guys think it needs to change, maybe just shift everything a step slower. Adjusting the sensitivity option is pretty easy when you're playing though, right?
