  1. Yes, that would be rad, plasma sky 2, or maybe a dual stick robotron vector type game with jeff minter sound effects.

I've never been bothered by the randomness of drops in hardcore or conquest modes in survival it did bother me alittle until I got the high score in a game that started out with crappy drops it was that extra bonus time that pushed me to the top and Volbard said he was going to fix that so I say leave it how it is

I'll probably leave drops alone. I thought about it, but I didn't come up with a better solution. If I add a longer game mode, the randomness will even out.

I'm not planning my next game yet, but I'll probably want to do something other than a shooter and it will probably take a long while to make, I have a day job. I also want to look into some alternate SDKs. :)

I hope iCade players can live with toggling away from the game and back on launch to get the iCade controls to start working. I've spent a ton of time poking at it and I haven't had any success. Kind of lame, but I guess toggling in and out isn't that bad.

I'll submit the new patch tomorrow. Glad you guys are having fun!

  4. I like the drop system, I think it is fine.

About the icade builds, I sent you a lengthy beta report before. For everyone here, icade works GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Now about the latest build since you are trying to get it in, the normal sensitivity is very good now. Higher is not bad though probably would not use it, but keep it that way cause some might like that fast reckless control.

But I kinda miss the old normal setting. Can you make the low sensitivity a little faster? Kinda like the old normal? Anyway, essentially, just a tad faster. Then I would actually probably play in both low and normal icade modes.

Also, about the toggling it is not bothersome at all, but somehow there needs to probably be a help screen for icade to explain how to get it to work, so some people may post stupid negative reviews cause they might think that icade doesn't work.

Anyway, normal setting is quite good now, but it would be great if you could get the low setting to be just like the old normal.

Thanks, folks, the icade support is great! Buy an icade core!

This is great to hear! I'd love to try it but first I would need to buy an iPad and then I'd need to find a way to drag my daughter away from Skyrim on the big TV

Damn, I thought that all that practice on Survival would make me better at Hardcore, but nope I still suck. :(

I see what you did there :)

About the drops: I think they're fine, but I also think that that's why I'm not at the top of the leaderboard. The higher your highscore, the more important luck becomes.

It's interesting to me that two days ago my survival highscore was around 1 million, and I actually thought back then that I was having perfect runs and it was a mystery to me how other people got such super high scores. Now my highscore is around 2 million (got there just by paying more attention to time drops), and now I do see room for improvement.

Yeah, it's pretty bad that I'm beating you at Hardcore by ~180,000... and SyntheticVoid by millions more than that... yet both of you just have eaten me alive at Survival. On the flip side I'm beating you by a couple million at Conquest and Synthetic Void is just over 3 million more than me. It's been pretty cool to see how each of us has topped one another.

Volbard, future game design may be a ways off but I hope you profit enough to fund this as a hobby on the side of you're real job. I think that's a smart way to go even if a game does better than expected. Whatever you make next, launch it at $0.99 and it's an instabuy. Hopefully whatever engine you move to though will not be as buggy as this one is when it comes to accessing GC and rotating.

New PB on Hardcore, 11.3 mil. Damn those snakes at level 63. :p

No, it isn't super-mega, but give me time. ;)

No rest for me then... gotta get back at least one top spot from my GC friends. That's only a couple levels past where I died.

Sure, I'll tighten the control sensitivity range a bit more, I think the high and low ends are past what people would really want to use.

I'd like to post some iCade explanation, but I don't really have anywhere to put the text. It does seem pretty important, maybe I can make a web page explaining it and other game mechanics.

I'm sure whatever I use next will have completely different annoyances. :)

Unless you dig in deep and code your own engine. Then you'd have full access to features and whatnot and have a much better base to build off of.

    ...

Side note, Hardcore mode today is just kicking my rear. I was consistently getting in the 60's... now I'm barely breaking 6Million in the 40's. I managed to up my Survival score into the 2 millions... maybe that's where my attention needs to be.

Glad the new wingmen didn't make the game too easy!

I added a new help webpage, it has some information about iCade. It's kind of ugly because I'm not a web designer. :)

  16. Right after the icade build is out, and we all are happy and things are going well, remember to ask Ion to add it onto the official ion icade list.

    http://www.ionaudio.com/products/icade-games/P20

Also, see the wording on Blazing star concerning the exiting out thing to initiate icade controls. For some reason early dotemu games did it, but the most recent metal slug x seems to be ok without it.

Thanks for working with me to get icade joystick support in this game. And thanks for working with me to have like 5 icade sensitivity settings and listening to me and making them more useable.

I think this is the first game in ios history to have different joystick sensitivity settings... It is so awesome, truely amazing, that we got so many different flavors of icade sensitivity support. I really do thank you for adding so many settings like I asked for, cause each sensitivity setting is pretty unique.

The slower settings feel like an old arcade game, the faster settings seem more like a reckless head banger. In fact, when I play with the higher sensitivity settings, I get afraid my ipad will fly off my icade core cause I am playing so violently, but man, the new settings rock.

Downloaded the latest build right now, will take another look at it once I get home in 3 hours, but I am happy that we got so many different icade sensitivity settings in.

I can't even think of any game in history, not just ios, that has multiple joystick sensitivity settings for speed. I hope this new style of joystick sensitivity will become the norm one day, and I am honored to have worked with you on it.

So good job, my friend. Very good.

  17. Got your pm, downloaded the latest build.

We got it close to perfect!!!!

Thanks for your adjustments, low is about what the old normal was.

Now to all, we got 5 icade settings for joystick sensitivity!

Low plays like old old slower arcade games

Normal is about like Danmaku 2

Higher is not bad either a little faster

Highest and max are both very fast, some may like, but man it makes you play pretty violently, so sometimes I get afraid of my ipad falling out of my icade core.

I think this is perfect, go ahead and release this build, you have my blessing. Shmup fans, you maybe witnessing the first ever ios joystick sensitivity settings game with 5 icade control settings.

Each setting makes the game play like a totally different game. I'm gonna be curious which couple of styles most players like. Wonder too which will be best for high scores. Good job Volbard! Icade support now is state of the art, and I personally thank you on behalf of all present and future icade players.

Icade players, trust me, you will love the icade sensitivity settings, the future looks bright for icade and console play through hdmi tv.

Impressive Volbard, awesome job. Awesome. :)

2.3 million now, and that's a great score. #17 overall, and beating most of my Game Center friends, including some Shmup vets. Not bad, young Padawan. ;)

    Playing iOS games, duh.
    Pennsylvania, U.S.
Damn! I edged out my old score slightly and made it to 2,880,724 and was literally RIGHT IN FRONT of another time extension drop. I mean, my ship was basically TOUCHING it. I thought a tie goes to the runner! Ugh! :p I might have been able to break the 3 million mark.
