Definitely takes some of the fun out of it, dealing with that nonsense.

Yeah..wish Apple can be a bit more flexible and let dev's have full control of leaderboards. I don't really know why Apple wants to give dev's opportunity to create leaderboards to foster some kind of competition in games..but not allow dev's full control. And it sucks there's a limit of how many leaderboards as well..

I may be able to do something to limit the range of possible scores. I'll try that. nightc1 is right though, Apple doesn't let me change or delete individual scores. I don't know why.

You know John, sometimes I think you and I are thinking the exact same things :D

It can't be possible to score higher than say, 2,800,000, at least with the current build. None of the top scorers have broken 2,700,000 and I would be surprised if any of us do.

Then again, even if a score is hacked, it would be fake and still show up as a fake score on the Leaderboards, even if it was only 2,800,000. But I guess it would be less incentive for the super nerds to hack the score if there is a cap.

The hacked scores are gone!!! Thank you SumoSplash for bringing this up and a huge thank you to Volbard for magically fixing it! I love this game and haven't been able to go a single day without playing

I'll just ratchet it down occasionally and knock the cheaters off the list. I would hate it if someone got an awesome score and couldn't post it.

The new build is out, the countdown timer should be fixed!

    Survival is more difficult. Great!

  9. Ok, I did some research and Skyriders by bluescrn has icade support and it uses Marmalade. I have pmed him to see if he in anyway can assist you if possible. If you can think of any other games that use marmalade and use icade let me know, many of the developers I am fairly friendly with here.

Anyway, thanks for trying at least, and hopefully bluescrn can pm you back. Good game, and if not this time, maybe next time, we can get icade support. Looking forward to your next game, cause this is a perfect iphone game, small, fun, and solid gameplay.

I won't be able to help with iCade support as we use our own Flare engine, but I can't imagine it's too difficult to implement (with your experience). Most annoying thing about iCade is it replaces your keyboard and you can't turn it off for a short period for...say... when someone wants to type in his name.

I'm playing survival mode exclusively now and I seem to be getting worse and worse at it :D Like it a lot, though I sometimes mistake projectile/enemy/bonus pickups, probably due to the similar movement speeds.

I was so pleased about having discovered a completely new-for-me genre and tried some other shmups, but I keep coming back to Plasma Sky. It remains a really great game. It's the combination of graphics, gameplay and music that stands out for me. The graphics are simple and beautiful, the gameplay is easy enough to understand and it never gets too complicated. The scoring is simple but because of the multiplier it's really challenging to get highscores. The feeling of blowing through everything when you're at max-power is awesome. I also like that the levels are predictable, so that even if I repeatedly die somewhere (those crossing lasers used to get me every time), eventually I'll figure it out and get further (I wonder if the powerups are random or if there's some kind of pattern. Only thing I figured out is that there is a particular ship that often drops lots of stuff). The music really adds to the gameplay and I like that it sounds positive.

WOOHOO! Thank you for the update! It's great being able to know how long I've got in survival now... =oD

    You rock.

I just got some help from another dev this morning, and I kind of half-way have iCade working. My release builds crash, but in debug I can get input from the device. So, hopefully I can get that figured out, and then I can write the code to actually do something useful with the input.

You would think I'd have some idea what I'm doing here, but I actually don't know objective C and just using the Mac OS is pretty weird for me. I compiled some libraries in xcode this morning to get iCade going, and half my time was spent trying to navigate the file system. :)

It's annoying that it replaces the keyboard, but it's better than what I've been trying, which left a keyboard onscreen when the iCade *wasn't* connected.

Remember, pink is bad! At no point should you steer your ship into pink things!

    I'm glad you like it!

Thanks! I really should have caught the bug earlier though.

  14. Yeah, I imagine that icade integration isn't so easy cause it is kinda a bluetooth keyboard hack, but thanks for trying. I have gotten about 10 different developers to implement icade controls in their games, but unfortunately about half haven't been successful.

The most recent game other than yours is the other brothers, which will have icade support in a couple of days. Lets hope that it works right. Anyway, thanks for trying, and if you ever need any help on testflight, just ask.

But if not today, try sometime in the future to tap into future sales, cause icade owners are pretty loyal about buying icade games, and plasma sky would make an awesome joystick type game.

Thanks for trying, and I'm glad you bought an icade. Hope you enjoy it. :)

    Hey Volbard,

Me again from a few pages back.

Loving survival mode, just got the no.2 spot after a couple of days of really trying to crack 1st... but I think it would take an almost perfect run or to do a couple of things different which im thinking but yet to try.

Anyhow, ive come across an.... I guess you'd call an exploit in survival mode where it would allow someone to crack the 3mil mark (not easily, would still have to be a really good run).

It's not hard to do (a bit tedious) and maybe an oversight on your behalf, but id hate for the scores to skyrocket a bit and I want to keep it the way you intended, plus the scores are really close and its kind of exciting =P

Should I tell you what it is or should I just leave it be and get over 3 mil ha. Maybe people have already discovered it and thats why theyve got high scores... but if I can get 2nd without cheating im sure others have and it would take the fun out of their hard work.

Also a suggestion, would be cool and I dont know how hard it would be for you to implement, but, if you could add in a Time Crisis style score system where it tells you the position that you are at based on your scores going by maybe the top 20 in the game centre?

If youre not familiar with Time Crisis score system, I can chuck you a link here when I finish work. Maybe it wouldnt be worth the hassle, but for us die hard high score warriors, would be kind of neat :)

    One more thing :D

Would you be able to tell me what final level the first place scorer achieved in survival mode?

I can get up to lvl 35 but my high score was set on lvl 34 :S

Ive got a feeling that it wont allow you to go past lv 35? Is it capped?

    Thanks!

Looks like you are at #5, not #2. Hmph ;)

PM the exploit to Volbard. Don't post it here. This would also explain that super high score.

Really? My Gamecentre for all time scores states #2 @ 2,721,142 :S

Anyways I missed the super high score, what was it?

Since I havent actually used the exploit to get a high score, Im not sure how far one could get in survival (It will only work in survival), that's why I asked Volbard if there was a cap (like lv35).

What level did you achieve your high score Sumosplash?

On my gamecentre it has you listed at #6 @ 2,609,817

I have you listed at #5, right above me. I was referring just to Survival Mode. That's the only mode I've really been playing.
