All of your iPod or iPhone apps will run normally, or at upscale. You do not need the iPad specific version to play the game.
You should be able to play it on the iPad using the iPod version. You will get a small 320x480 window in the middle of the iPad screen to play it on or you can supersize it to full screen (but it will be somewhat blurry) and play. Or you can purchase the HD version and play it full screen with full iPad resolution (no blur). You might get a few extras in the iPad only version too, I haven't read the description of it yet. Edit: I have noticed WordPress and IMDb came out with updates today. They are including the iPad versions in their current builds for iPod/iPhone meaning their apps are universal and the UI will change depending on which device you use (be iPod/iPhone or iPad).
Here are some screenshots from the iPad version. Looks good, it has achievements, minigames, and survival mode and a few new things. http://www.maclife.com/article/news/first_ipad_screens_and_details_plants_vs_zombies_hd
Are these new features getting added to the iPhone verson? It seems pretty crappy that they gimped the iPhone version to only add in the missing features to the iPad one.
I wish they would add all the content of the PC version as well, specifically that mode where all the zombies have plant-heads. That's where the challenge of the game is... the campaign mode is a bit too easy.
I guess they want to justify why the iPad version is over 3 times the price compared to the iPhone one.
And half the price of the PC/Mac version. I think it's a bargain on any platform, but if you don't like the price, wait, it will drop.
I wish they would add in the features to the iPhone version as DLC and I'll pick it up. I refuse to get a half completed game (hence the reason I only got Puzzle Quest yesterday as they finally came out with Chapter 3).
I agree. I think Popcap and Square Enix are two developers that typically stick to the same price, outside of the occasional sale (ex. Square Enix had discounts with FF1 and FF2 came out).
computer version - $20 from Popcap's web site, $10 from Steam, $7 from Big Fish Games - Popcap certainly doesn't seem to object to discounting Plants vs. Zombies.
I was referring to the app store. Bewjeweled 2 and Peggle haven't moved from their prices, at least in the last 6 months or so. They continue to sell, so there is no need and I imagine the same will hold true for PvZ. This is as opposed to many other developers who usually have price drops and/or big sales within a six month window. The different prices of the PC version is irrelevant.
Well, Peggle started out at $5, dropped to 99 cents a month later, then went to $3, and was on sale for $2 in January. Bejeweled 2 started at $10 and then dropped to $3 two months later. It has stayed there since then. Everyone is subject to price pressure.
This game is so fun that I might buy it for my laptop. And why not include half of the stuff honestly it's kinda dumb NO OFFENSE POP CAP. Im stuck at the pool level at night. THE FOG IS REALLY ANNOYING!! but i rated 5***** (the stars resemble stars lolz) anyway. If anyone rated one star its probably a different dev jealous of how awesome it is. BTW ITS AWESOME!
Aside from that sale, popcap prices have stayed pretty steady over the last six months, much more than other developers. Bejeweled 2 was $10 at first during the whole iPhone App store opening gold rush like what we're seeing with the iPad right now. Any developer is subject to price pressure, but the success of their titles makes them less likely to drop prices compared to most other games on the store.
if I buy a ipad the 16GB wifi ($499), does the wifi mean that it is built in the ipad? or is it like iphones and ipod touches where you need to be in a wifi zone. so if I have no wifi at my house do I still get wifi on my ipad? ( I am asking this on plants vs zombies beacuase this is the factor that will make me buy an ipad if I am buying one I will get plants vs zombies HD today.)
Uhm..It will be like the iDevices, Apple doesn't have magical worldwide WiFi coverage. That's why they offer models with 3G coverage.
